Should we request a certain room/area at HRH or does it really matter?

First off, I really appreciate reading everyones advice/tips here! This is a great place to learn more about Universal and I just wanted to thank everyone.

My question is; when my husband and I go, should we request a certain room/area? or will it really matter? We will be checking in early afternoon so I wasn't sure. I know at Disney everyone is big on room requests in certain hotels and what not. Is this anything that I should ask for at check in?

we have a pool view reserved, its all they had when I phoned in the reservation.

I am also interested in hearing a response... we leave next week and are staying at HRH for two nights. We presently has a deluxe pool view room booked.
