Moving along . . .
We had watched fireworks from the Contemporary Resort on July 2. And, from the beach at the Polynesian Resort on July 3rd, and now here we were at the Fort for the 4th.
The audio played just fine, maybe even better than it had at the Poly, and then the fireworks began.
Because Discovery Island blocks the view of the castle from FW's beach, you can just see the higher up fireworks from here. And, the EWP boats must have been over at the Poly again, because they weren't here.
But, the fireworks were still good:
And, look at how many people were crowded on to the beach! (this is looking toward the dock- you can see the MK boat pulled up there):
I would say that there were more people here for these fireworks than there were on New Year's Eve.
More fireworks:
I really like the star-shaped fireworks:
And here's the grand finale.
Not as impressive as from Poly's beach.
But still impressive:
And that was it!
I thought that we might have trouble getting out of the temporary golf cart parking area, but we didn't. Everybody moved along, and there was no problem at all.
When we got back to our site, we decided to go and get some ice cream from the Meadow Trading Post before it closed. We decided to bike over there.
Here is one of the TCD twins heading back toward the 1500 loop. The pool is in the background;
Note the George Washington tat on her face.
I forgot to mention they had free tattoos down at the Freedom Beach Bash.
Free.
At Disney.
You don't see that every day.
We hung around the Fort for the rest of the evening. There were some packs of golf carts looping. But, not as many as I have seen before. Overall, it was much more subdued around the Fort than I had expected. I didn't hear anybody shooting off illegal fireworks, and things were pretty much dead by midnight.
And that was it for the 4th.
I was up early for my morning patrol on the 5th.
I took this shot of the Settlement Trading Post sign:
And, I did some looking around down the trail between the Settlement Trading Post and the 300 loop. There is a lot of space along the lake here:
I know there has been talk of late about possible new campsites in the old River Country area. But, if they were going to put new campsites on Bay Lake someplace, this would be the logical place to do it.
Over on the 1300 loop, I saw this finalist for a TCD Real Man of Genius Award:
I don't know exactly what was going on here, but it impressed me.
Here are some horses practicing pulling the wagon:
And, then I stumbled upon another mystery.
This was also in the group camping area.
Over by the canal between the group camping area and the 900 loop. On the group camping side of the canal I saw this:
What do you make of this?
It looks like it has something to do with the blue tanks in River Country.
My initial impression was that this was a communication device to communicate with the mother ship.
What do you think it is?
I was able to solve this mystery, too.
So, I'll tell you what it is after everyone has a chance to guess.
