Hello! I'm so excited to be going back to Disneyland in ONE month! And even better, just me and the hubby! This will be his 2nd time ever, and I've lost count as to how many times this will make for me :rotfl:

Who:
I'm Elena, stay at home mom to two crazy kids, ages 2 and 5! This trip is a much needed get away, just the two of us, for a week. Of course, I'm having mom guilt because I want the kids to come, but then again I don't! lol.

And this is my DH of almost 6yrs (our anniversary is a couple days before our trip): Eli. He doesn't really share my love of Disney, he mostly puts up with it and rolls his eyes lol. Although he does like Pirates, and I told him if all he does is like the villains, I'll be happy with that.

Over a year ago, I decided we needed to take an adults only trip. We never got a honeymoon and had never been anywhere just the two of us since we had kids. My wonderful in-laws are driving down from Oregon to stay with our kiddos for the week.

Originally, I decided we would go to WDW and Universal. Believe it or not, I was more excited at the thought of Universal because we are huge Harry Potter fans, but since we are on the west coast, flights were outrageous. It was at least $1,000 for just the two of us, and I just couldn't stomach paying that much for flights.

From there I thought, well maybe we should go on a cruise. Of course I researched Disney cruises but um..yeah, sticker shock LOL. Then on to Carnival cruises...to Mexico! My sister had done one last year and said she loved it so I thought, how perfect...then I can squeeze in a couple Disneyland days! Hubby vetoed that, so I said fine. I will decide and this is what we're doing! So two days at Disneyland with two down days, mostly. And here we are!

We are flying into LAX from Sacramento (though we actually live 2.5hrs away, Sac was $250 cheaper!). As much as I wanted to fly into SNA, LAX was also cheaper. All in all, for the two of us we paid $192 for airfare! Score. Much better than $1,000! I love flying Southwest.

We arrive on Monday, March 16th and fly home on Friday, March 20th. We're staying at the Super 8 on Katella. Never stayed there before but I found a good deal on Orbitz.

I bought our (2 day-one park per day) tickets last night through Last Minute Travel, saved $28! Can you tell I love a good deal? ha!

So that's where we are so far. I paid for our hotel and airfare a few weeks ago, but it didn't feel real or exciting until I bought our park tickets. Funny how that is!

We arrive in exactly one month from today! This month needs to fly on by!

Trip Report started on page 2! :thumbsup2 :cool1:

Hopefully there are actually people reading along! :rotfl:

In 3 weeks from today, we will be in DCA! We are only doing one park per day because A) cheaper and the biggest reason, B) I like devoting a whole day to each park since we will only be doing 2 park days.

I thought these few weeks would drag on, but there are a few things coming up that will keep me busy! One that just passed was my DD's 5th birthday party, which of course was Frozen themed! Along with every other girl in America...

And of course, presents!

In the end all her friends had fun, she was happy and my house was a mess but it was worth it to see the smile on her face! Happy girl, indeed. :goodvibes

I am currently working on outlining our Disneyland day. We missed so much on our last trip, thrill-wise, since we focused on the things our kids could ride and would enjoy, so this trip is going to definitely be at adult speed...including a visit to Trader Sam's!

Stay tuned!

I am reading, Elena. I am dragging my kids to Trader Sam's and we will wait until we get a table, no matter how long it takes, darn it! It is my only real request for me!

Yay!

Trader Sam's has been #1 on my list before any other planning was done! I think we may go there on our first day for drinks and dinner. I'm stupid excited about it!

We are doing a kids free trip in April. Same as you, 2 day base tickets. Southwest from Vegas to Burbank. I never flew into Bur before. And we are staying at a hotel I just stayed at for the first time on my Mother/Daughter trip in Feb. My Daughter is 13 and my boyfriends' son is 12. We have never taken a trip alone in the 2 years we are together. I feel so guilty, how the heck do we shake it off? :sad2:

Fun!! I'm in Reno, so we are on opposite sides of Nevada :thumbsup2

It's hard not feeling guilty!! Especially lately since my daughter keeps saying, "Next time when we go to Disneyland I want to do this...I want to ride that..." out of nowhere! It's making me feel bad, but I don't plan to tell her that we went to Disneyland until we get back or else she will have a huge melt down. :faint: She knows we are going on a trip and that Nana and Papa coming to stay with her while we are gone, so at least she's prepared that way. My 2yo won't know any different so I'm not worried about him. I also told her we were going to the Disney Store when we go on our trip, and asked her what she wanted because I know I won't be able to resist buying something for the kids! lol

For us, we really need the time alone. We almost never spend any time just the two of us. Besides that, my kids are always first and I always put myself last (the mom curse!!) so I try to think of that, too. On the plus side, the next trip we take, they will come along for so the guilt won't last too long...hopefully! lol. And you just took your daughter on a trip, so don't feel too bad! Easier said than done, though.

True I did just take her weeks ago. And yes, the kids always come first. Time for a reward. How's Reno? Any snow?

Adult time is important too :goodvibes

It snowed night before last all night and most of the day yesterday. Took the kids out to play, it was fun. First good snow we've had all winter! Sadly it has mostly melted by now. My daughter is bummed.

Two weeks from right now, we will be in Anaheim! Of course that means I need to book our shuttle so we actually can get to our hotel :rotfl:

I made an outline of our park days. It's a little ambitious but I want to make sure we do all the rides we missed last time, aka most of the thrill rides.

On our arrival day, we will check in and get settled, maybe nap or relax for a bit, unless we are completely starving. The plan is to head to Downtown Disney and eat at Earl of Sandwich.
*If you go to their website and sign up for their e-club, you will get an email with a coupon for a free sandwich!*
It will be a late lunch, since we are landing at LAX around 1pm and won't arrive to our hotel (via shuttle) until approx 3 or so (or so I figured out when I priced out shuttles). If we are still hungry we may get a snack or an actual meal later from Tortilla Jo's Taqueria and then end the night by getting drinks at Trader Sam's! :woohoo: :drinking1

DCA Tuesday March 17th

Cars Land
Radiator Springs Racers (ride and grab FP)

Paradise Pier
Toy Story Midway Mania
California Screamin'
The Little Mermaid--Ariel's Undersea Adventure

Radiator Springs Racers (ride and grab FP if there are any left)

a bug's land

Flik’s Flyers

Cars Land
Radiator Springs Racers (?)
Mater's Junkyard Jamboree

We may still have a lot of time left on our hands, depending on how busy the park is that day. May or may not see Aladdin...the time before WoC will be a toss up, since I obviously don't know how long it will take to get all that we want to do accomplished.

Of course no good trip comes without planning out meals! I love looking at food porn and hearing where other people have eaten and what they ordered. My hubby thinks I'm a little crazy for taking pictures of our food but last trip I had to reassure him, "It's a THING. I promise! I'm not the only one!" haha!

Lunch at Pacific Wharf
Dinner at Flo's
Snack at Cozy Cones...churros, YUM!

I'm most excited about our Disneyland day. It is where the magic started after all! :wizard:
Even better, the park is open until midnight so we will get to ride all we want, hopefully! I will probably want to die after, but it will be so worth it lol.

Disneyland Wednesday, March 18th

Adventureland
Indiana Jones
Jungle Cruise
Enchanted Tiki Room

Frontierland

FP for Fantasmic!
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

New Orleans Square
Pirates of the Caribbean
Haunted Mansion

Tomorrowland
Space Mountain (FP)

Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters

Roger Rabbit’s Cartoon Spin (FP)
Gadget's Go Coaster

Fantasyland

Alice in Wonderland
Teacups
Mr. Toad's Wild Ride
Snow White's Scary Adventures
Pinnochio's Daring Journey
Casey Jr. Circus Train

My meal/snack list is long. There are just too many delicious things I need to get while at Disneyland!

Lunch at Harbour Galley
Dinner possibly at Village Haus

Snacks!
Dole whip
Mickey beignets and a Mint Julep (this will be my first time trying a MJ)
Souvenir bucket with popcorn
Some sort of deliciousness from Jolly Holiday. Possibly a travel mug with hot chocolate and a Matterhorn Macaroon. Yum!

We have one day to relax before flying home. Since we will be right next to the Garden Walk, I think we are going to have dinner at Bubba Gump's and possibly lunch at Johnny Rockett's. Lunch is flexible but I really love Bubba Gump's...although I don't even eat seafood! Ha! I just love the atmosphere. It's a fun place to eat and the hubby loves fish but I refuse to make it for him *gag* so this is his golden opportunity to indulge.

The next day we fly out pretty early so we will have to grab a bite to eat at the airport. We should land in Sacramento around lunch time, so I'm sure we will grab some lunch there before driving home to our kiddos!

Elena,
I see we're going to miss each other by 2 days. We're planning to be there on the 14th. And I'm jealous you're taking an adults only trip!

Hi Fran!!!
That's a bummer! It would have been fun to meet in person! Can't wait to hear about your trip!
I am really excited that we get to leave the kids behind! Especially lately, they are being little hooligans lol.

We leave in one week from today and I've lost my motivation!! I'm so tired. That time change and having been out of town for a conference this weekend wiped me out.

My in-laws are coming on Saturday and will be watching the kids while we're gone, so I also have cleaning and laundry to get done and all I want to do is crawl into bed and take a nap!

This is not a good way to start off the week before our trip!

Checked the forecast and our two park days are supposed to be in the 80's!:sunny: :scared:
The first day with a high of 89! :crazy2: Blech. Guess I need to make sure I bring my sunscreen! ::yes::

I just came upon your PTR. How fun for you and your husband! I'm not married or have kids but I did take a solo trip to DLR last March and loved every minute of it. I even went solo to WDW just last month but would probably never do that again. DLR is more fun anyway. I've stayed at that Super 8 before and although I'm usually a hotel snob, I'm not that picky about the ones around the parks. Anyway, the Super 8 was nothing fancy but I absolutely had no complaints about it. Clean, friendly staff and well within walking distance. I don't think you'll be disappointed. I'm looking forward to hearing about your trip.

You're brave, I don't think I would ever take a solo trip lol. I'm too social to go alone!

Thanks for your review of Super 8! All the reviews I read on Trip Advisor were positive, so for our price range, I felt pretty good about booking it.

Today is a laundry day. Fun! Not. Since I have packing on my mind, I thought I'd show my two Disney shirts before they go in my suitcase! I also designed a shirt for the hubby online through the Disney Store, but I'm not sure where it is at the moment. When it surfaces, I will be sure to take a picture of it.
The Mickey, Pluto, Goofy and Donald shirt is actually a men's shirt from Walmart lol. I just thought it was cute! And I like the longer sleeves. That will be worn in DCA.
The blue Mickey and Minnie shirt I got from the Disney Store. I will wear that one on our Disneyland day.
