I’m a bit annoyed with this gift with purchase that started today. I know I saved more money but.. 😅
I thought you meant this was the gift with purchase of more points now...part of the Fall Incentives after 9/11/23? Sorry if you were just joking, but a framed (or unframed) print of this caliber would be such an awesome incentive! Also, great photo, it really makes the art pop!

Here's the link for others: https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/b...s-at-disneyland-hotel-wallpaper-desktop-ipad/

... But the framed print is so much better and soooo cool!

Ah you meant a link to the offer. I was told of the promo in person when I inquired about the print on display at the Starview lounge entrance. I took a photo of the back as well which had more info on it.

Wow, I just read it. It sounds like they will present it to the members lucky enough to have booked the first night! We didn't so I'm bumbed! 😭

I didn’t interpret it like that. The guide when asked said it’s for people that buy points with the fall incentives. When I told her Iots of ppl will be sad, she said we all got the better price. I have a booking for 9/28 so I hope your interpretation is correct. Fingers crossed!

With all of the great news and pictures coming out for VDH and the release of ideas they are working on for Disneyland Forward (they included that they might have use for a Skyliner at the Disneyland Resort....) we are so excited. Just need to get caught up on some work so I can be ready for our trip at the end of October.

Now if we just got word on when the VGC remodel would happen.....

New art from Disney’s environmental report for Disneyland Forward. Who knows when this would happen, but the tower would be right in the middle of the action.

Thanks for sharing. Took some digging but I found the report(s). Wanted to see a little more detail for the description boxes.

VDH has an indoor thrill ride of some sort. I'm sure at this stage this are "placeholder" and will change.

I think the entire thing is a placeholder and will change. in 10 years PPH will be there because Disney is legally required to have a hotel on that property, VDH will be there for similar reasons, everything else in this art should be considered subject to massive changes.

This is about winning over Anaheim's city council and changing the zoning laws, not about building new attractions or a third gate. It's disingenuous on Disney's part.

They know they aren't going to do any of this anytime soon. This is a wishlist for projects 10+ years out.

WED Peoplemover? Monorail extension? Give me a break. Those are not practical and will never happen. It's pandering.

Could they build a new hotel along Katella to replace PPH.?

While I agree a lot of it is hype, & doesn't seem practical (especially People Mover), but a monorail would be very fitting from Toy Story (3rd Gate & Hotel), to the new Parking lot across Harbor, & connected to somewhere near the current Monorail in Downtown Disney.
WDW has them going pretty long distances, and this one would have to be similar where it isn't ticketed transportation, but would have to try to keep the public from using it. lol

While this is definitely all "blue sky" and a currently a push to get Anaheim to change the zoning of these parcels, Disney wouldn't be going through all this trouble if they didn't want to do something here - they don't need the zoning to change in order to leave everything as-is. And while financially they are currently at a low point, Parks & Experiences is one of the bright spots in Disney's finances, and investing there is something they will do as long as it is making money. Assuming this passes the city council next year, I would be very surprised if we don't see something concrete started within the next decade. The Disneyland parking lot was announced to be the site of a second park in 1991, that was canceled in 1995, and construction started on DCA in 1998 with it opening in 2001. So I wouldn't be surprised at all to see something happen by the early-to-mid 2030s - which isn't that far off. But that is all speculation - who really knows what will happen!

The requirement isn’t with the government, it’s with the company that owns the land under the Paradise Pier hotel. The Tokyu group sold Disney the hotel in 1995, with some restrictions, but did not sell them the land.

IMG_1166.jpeg
Disney owns the hotel, the business, the Chao family (who built the hotel in the 1980s) own the land; it’s not clear to me who owns the building but various leaks from Disney in the past have indicated that Disney can’t do basically anything to the hotel without permission from the Chao family, and that they are required contractually to run a hotel on the site for many decades, a time period I’ve seen variously at 40, 50, and 100 years.

...I think you are a realist?

It would cost them a fortune. There were reports back in 2013 that a new monorail segment runs $100 million per mile in Florida where they (up until Bob Chapek) controlled the land, zoning and safety regulations.

Adjusted for inflation that's over $250 million per mile now. It's going to be even more expensive in California.

Plus, the trains run around ~$10 million per train. Walt Disney World is still waiting on new trains that were due to be replaced in the early 2000's.

The Disneyland monorail is an attraction only. It wasn't built to transportation standards like the monorail at Walt Disney World. It doesn't have air conditioner, runs limited hours and only has two stations. It's not a practical transportation solution for DLR.

As for the PeopleMover, WED has only ever built one real PeopleMover in the Houston airport of all places. It's been promised over and over again—from the original EPCOT plans to the themed hotel areas of the Magic Kingdom. Yet, they never built it. The two attraction PeopleMover's they did build were not built to transportation standards either.

I get it. I love nostalgia too, but I see plans like this and shake my head. It's all a manipulation game to get control of zoning.

Do I think they'll do things like build attractions around the two other hotels? Yes, eventually. They don't have a choice if they want to grow.
