Tropical threat?? Leaving in 9 days...

We are scheduled to go 9/25 - 10/1 with a resort change on Wednesday of all days! I am seriously thinking about cancelling and going some other time but not sure i we should just go and muscle it out. I do have a 4 year in tote. Not sure what to do.

I would no way want to be on the Skyliner with wind and/or lightening :sad2::oops:o_O
Lol and WDW wouldn’t allow it

We had a split stay during Matthew. Left WDW around 2 pm and it took 1-1/2 hrs to
Drive up to U due to rain, traffic and all the storm debris on road.

RP U took great care of us. Food, games, entertainment of sorts. Found it fascinating how all Pool furniture dumped into the pool.

Lots of clean up but parks were not open the next day at U. It was a clean up day. Was still heavy rain etc. more games in convention center etc. we went a bit rogue and walked to
sF for change of scenery.

Did wind up with 2 tires Alamo handled it, sent flatbed to RP parking lot on 3rd day & took us to a hotel to pick up replacement for rest of our trip

I'm flying in to Orlando next Thursday (9/29) for a 3-day Wish cruise. Following along with all the weather reporting. So far, it seems like the eastern/Atlantic side of the state is going to miss a lot of this storm. My concern at this point is flying home on 10/3.

We were there for Alberto (minor annoyance), Matthew and Michael. My biggest concern is getting there! Our flight leaves at 2:25 p.m. on Wednesday, September 28, 2022. Keeping my fingers crossed that the path changes and our flight is as scheduled. :headache:

I'm not sure for Disney you would need to have trip insurance. it would be worth a call if you're considering cancelling.

In 2017 we were set to arrive on Friday. Irma was set to arrive Saturday. Thursday I called and cancelled our 10 day trip and was refunded everything. Disney was very understanding as flights had also been cancelled so really no way to get there. They had many local people trying to move in for the hurricane so our cancellation helped them too.

That being said, even with the hurricane I still could have gone and had a great time! Disney is built with extreme hurricanes in mind. They rarely (if ever) lose power or water as these things are underground. If I were to make these decisions again I would have flown in a day early and ridden out the storm while enjoying quieter parks.

Appreciate it thanks! (I was actually there during Irma and did have a great time!)

If my flight stays scheduled for Tuesday I’ll probably go. If I can get there Tuesday and Wed is just a wash but everything else is good to go, I’d be okay with that.

All depends on strength, timing, and where it actually goes!

No. Room only reservation can be cancelled 5 days before arrival with no penalty. You can also modify that reservation up to arrival date, so that was an option if we had been willing to wait longer to see the forecast. Our park tickets can be applied to future purchase, and we have e-credits for flights that don't expire until end of 2023. Our biggest concern was giving our pet sitter notice of cancellation. They are a small business, and like others, they have had problems hiring. We are long-time clients, and they have always covered us, so I wanted to give them more than a day's notice. Lots of things to consider, and cancelling was the right decision for us.

This is my dilemma. We are supposed to fly in Thursday and leave Monday. I’m concerned about backlogs caused by cancellations. We’re getting a rental car; I guess I could go rogue and change it to a drop-off at my home airport. I don’t really want a 13 hour drive, though.

We are supposed to leave Sunday driving down, spend one night at universal Monday then check in to o k w on Tuesday( staying though oct 3 there then back to universal fro 4 days!). Just don't know what to do! daughter can't get her vacation time back, do we go and just ride it out? also worried about our car loln Anyone have any advice in this situation?

We are leaving tomorrow for Universal and Disney. We are staying at Universal Hard Rock this time. We are going. We are driving, and hoping to fill up one last time in Orlando as my only concern is getting gas on Oct 2 when we leave. I talked to Hard Rock and they assured me they had a back up generator for the whole hotel and was well prepared for the storms. I have read these hotels at Universal and Disney can take some pretty major storms. I did laugh when she said "the hotel will operate with food and some limited services, but we have to close the pool". I cannot believe some people want to go for a swim. LOL

Anyways. We have travel insurance, but I feel safe in their buildings. I did buy water, some pantry ready stuff, and snacks just in case we didn't want to bother with the hotel food. Our Epcot day may be canceled Wednesday. Fingers crossed we can still do halloween party this thursday night.
My big concern is finding gas to get home by October 2nd. :/

Read my post above, I read somewhere Disney resorts have back up generators as well. May want to call them to confirm. I do know Disney buildings are built to take these storms. We are planning to hunker down in our hotel room Wednesday if Orlando takes a hit.

We have friends who use the Seminole Hard Rock casino hotel near Miami as their evacuation hotel because of the generator systems. Much better than most hotels where generators run the electricity and elevators, but often not the A/C.

We have decided to go for it. Forecast is predicting it to hit Wed, and as of right now Orlando is on the west side so hoping that continues. That is the best side to be on.

Good luck, keep us posted. Hope you have great trips!

Looks like we may be making an unexpected trip to Disney middle of next week 😬 We are on the coast and did not leave for Irma and I won't be doing that again.

It will change (and change again) until it makes landfall but we will have to decide something in the next couple of days. We waited too long last time and lost our opportunity.

Gas stations were already busy this afternoon here so....

Downside of living in paradise!

Supposed to fly in to MCO on the 29th. Crossing fingers everything can work out, but nothing to do but wait and see

Thank you! Yes read your post and heard the same! then I looked at pics of pieces of houses blowing off including the roofs during a cat 3 lol. But as you posted, perhaps Disney is "built" stronger? than your normal building?
