We recently returned from 8 nights at Aulani. We have an 11 year old girl who is fairly shy and doesn't particularly like being put into situations where she doesn't know anyone. She didn't go to the tween zone the first five nights but then after a bit of coaxing agreed to give it a try on night six. Well, after that night we had to make sure our schedule accommodated her going the next two nights as well - she really enjoyed it and made a couple of friends! She wishes she had gone more often. Typically they alternate a games type of activity one night and a craft type thing the next. She made a beaded lizard, played a game where they ate watermelon in various fun ways - no hands, blindfolded etc - and another game balancing a cracker or something on their forehead and trying to eat it. Another activity was making a ramp for a racecar and then having a race with all of them. Silly, fun stuff - she enjoyed it! My 17 year old daughter went to a number of the teen activities that were from (I think) 8:30-9:30, and she really liked those as well.
