;) (hee-hee) Uh, no....Just that ROBOT's aren't supposed to make mistakes. :cool2: Especially expensive disney robots who should know better. :3dglasses Maybe I LIKED the red lipstick and white tongue on Minnie. :rolleyes1

Yeah, okay, if you say so......:snooty:
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: If you liked my embroidery skills, wait until you see my sewing....

That's what I tell my kids anyway! DS has me in stitches when he was telling the lady cutting fabric that I liked to sew but I wasn't very good because it took me "like a whole week" to finish a project. I thought I was doing pretty good! :rotfl:

My daughter looked at me and said, Mom, that looks homemade. I got my feelings hurt. :sad1: And I said, okay, you don't have to wear them, and she said, But mom, I love my outfits.

I'm sitting here wondering what happened to some of the designs..I have the same machine. Did you change bobbin thread as you went, or have the tension too tight? I use white as my bobbin color, and make sure it's full before you begin the design. Once it starts, I don't remove the hoop from the machine, just change the color. Also make sure your tension is loose enough that it's not pulling, around a 4 or 5 is good, and also use good embroidery thread. There's my 2 cents. Oh yeah, a good iron on stabilizer is key also..and get the hoop nice and tight...

I use the white thread in my bobbin and I dont change the bobbin while I'm embroidering. I keep the tension at about 4, and I use the coats/clark emb. thread. So, it may be the stabilizer. I am now on my 4th stabilizer. I did have a problem witht the iron on ones gumming up the needle. I try to get my hoop tight, so it might be the machine.:sad2: I'm glad there are people with your experience to ask.:goodvibes

I'm sorry, but I can't. As part of our transaction I promised the seller that I would not. I will email the seller and then if she agrees I will pm you her id and you can contact her to see if she'd sell it to you. She set up a custom package for me in which she included the pattern and the materials to make two of the shirts. She sells the shirts in her ebay store, so I can understand why she doesn't want the pattern passed around.

Okay, very understandable! Can you pm me with the seller's id please?

I am sure it is the stablizer. What i did to start off was to use felt and make sure it is in the hoop TIGHT< TIGHT, TIGHT! So tight that it is impossible to get the hoop together pretty much. That was my practice, with felt, I didn't need a stablizer. After that I had bought tons of different types, now I like best one sold by the yard at walmart, it is thicker and Does NOT iron on or stick on. I just put it in the hoop with the shirt or whatever. it is almost felt like.

I joined a yahoo group when I got my machine in 2002, it was so helpful but has died out. Search disney brother machine though, they were oh so helpful in times like this. Towels do well too. I don't like doing tshirts much, especially cheap ones, they stretch too easily aren't that thick. Try a jerzee brand sweatshirt from walmart, those do well. Towels are fun too, or blankets. Once you get the hand of it the shirts will look better though.

So the stabilizer you used had no iron on stuff on it at all and was like felt? Okay! I will go back to walmart and see if I can find some like that and try it. I did monogram on towels, so iI know t does work on the non disney designs. So off to buy stabilizer! Thank you!:thumbsup2

hmmm am I the only one who feels like they will have more outfits than there are days in the parks? :rolleyes1

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Uh, NO!

Okay, I think I have enough posts under my belt to post a picture. I did this Aurora t-shirt for my best friend's daughter. They just got back from Disney and she was so happy with it, she wore it three times during their five day stay. I'm not in love with it...I think her eyes look a little crazy. But I'm really excited to paint some more.

This is so much fun! My husband is so sick of seeing me in front of the computer...

WOW! Great detail! I'd say the shirt was a big hit if she wore it 3 out of 5 days! What kind of paint do you use? I'm sure your DH thinks the back of your head is lovely.

ET- "Homemade" is a good thing! Your stuff is wonderful, so never get your feelings hurt. If your littlest gets picky or grows her ", I know where you can UNLOAD her "homemade" stuff :rolleyes1 .
Is stablizer the pellon or wonder-under stuff?
So you just set up the colors of thread and place the cloth in the hoop and hold your tongue juuuuuust right and hope for the best...along with a bunch of other steps?

I really used to love hand embroidery and cross stitch and needlepoint. I should just do it by hand! THAT sounds a leetle bit like work, though.

I'm so glad to see I'm not the only one who goes a bit overboard on the Disney themed outfits for my daughter. We don't even have a trip planned but we'll need one soon if only so she'll have the perfect place to wear them. :rotfl: You ladies are all doing great jobs! I love to sew and applique so I'd be happy to answer questions if I can.

Wonder-Under is an iron-on fusible adhesive "webbing", like Heat-n-Bond & Steam-a-Seam & Stitch-Witchery ... Those are the name-brands for the various versions of this stuff that different companies make/sell.

Pellon is a company that makes many of the popular interfacings (iron-on, sew-on, water-solvable/melt-away, etc), stabilizers (tear-away, etc.) AND adhesives (they make Wonder-Under), etc. ... and adhesive battings & meshes ... the list goes on & on ...

There's other companies = 3M, Madiera, Hobbs, C&T, WARM, Fairfield, Sulky, ......
I can't keep up with them all ...

Once you see how fast the machine does it, you wont want to even think about doing it yourself! I used to sit around doing needlework, but no more! Now there's machines that do it for you IF you hold your tongue just right and DONT even think about breathing! :rotfl2:

Norah may be as big as my littlest Chloe, so it would be hand me evens instead of downs:confused3 !? Norah looks like she's nearly as tall as her. My poor girl didnt even get to ride soarin last year. :sad2: Short mother, what can I say? It was my middle girl Caitlin that said that about being handmade. Chloe is still little enough to LIKE everything! :thumbsup2

YEAH! An applique expert! Just what we like around here. Okay, I'm ready for you to start explaining the process right now! I cant seem to figure out how to get my lines straight, especially on dark shirts, and I dont seem to know how to do eyes. Do ya'll do that by hand? I'm terrible at eyes.:sad2:

I'm by no means an expert but I'm enjoying the experience of refining my technique. :) I'd say the best way to get good results is practice - sorry, I know that's boring and sounds like a mom. I started with simple shapes, like squares, hearts, daisies, etc. and progressed from there. I finally took the "plunge" in December to try more complex designs. Here's a close-up of a t-shirt I did for my DD this spring. I did as much as possible with my sewing machine, including stitching around all the pieces of the eyes, and then added the finishing details by hand, like the black line and eyelashes on the top edge of each eye and a brown line on the lower edge, the line to show the nose and the eyebrows. I figure if DD wears it a lot, it's successful. :dance3:

Good Evening! Or should I say early morning! Is it really this late???????

I got DD's next outfit done! Whew! All I can say is thank goodness the seam ripper was invented!

I really need to pratice my applique technique. It looks o.k. from a distance squinting with one eye closed in a VERY dark room!;)

This is the top:

I hate my letter "Q" Blech!
I really need to practice inside curves and circles!

I still need to add buttons and button holes, Yikes! I am skeered to try this, I might just mess up the whole thing!

The reason why did a duck themed outfit is that I am meeting up with some friends from the DIS in Baltimore in a few weeks. We are all planning on doing the duck tour! So while this is not a Disney themed outfit, it will be viewed by my Disney friends!

O.k. off to get some sleep!

alikat99 : The dresses in your sig. are beautiful, it's also a lovely pic, they are so cute... to bad it's not big enough to see the details
This isn't one of my DDs, but my niece who was "modeling" the finished product before my mom (Nana) sent them to the girls. I was so excited, I just couldn't wait for them to just be mailed!!:lmao:

I don't have a pic of the back, but it has a zipper up the back, with a red/white polka dot tie in the middle of the back. Really cute!

This is the last photo for tonight, I sware...I just found all of these old photos, and I got excited...

This is totally not disney related...This is a great reason to move to Florida...there are tons of these little beachy areas, and the girls love them...and they are just beautiful...this was taken at a place called the Turtle Mounds near Cape Canaveral Seashore...
I just love those kids of pictures! We live on the complete opposite coast over in St. Pete, but we just LOVE going to the beach to play in the water and watch the sunsets over the Gulf of Mexico!!!:thumbsup2

Any other FL girls on here???

That is just beautiful!! I want to give applique a try, but I'm frightened beyond belief. I just might have to dive in and give it a go!!:scared1:

I love that outfit... I guess my mom will have to make for my DD for next year's trip ha! ha! what pattern did you use? if you used any!!! it would not be to young for an 8 yrs old, do you think?

My 8yo loves it and she doesn't like ruffly/girly stuff, so I think it would definitely be ok!

I did this Aurora t-shirt for my best friend's daughter.

Great shirt, and tell your dh that this is just the beginning! My dh hasn't had the pleasure of my attention since early June!

OMG that is outstanding! Looks expert to me!

I got DD's next outfit done! Whew! All I can say is thank goodness the seam ripper was invented!

WOW TOM!!!!!!! You amaze me! That outfit is absolutely adorable :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 And you know, I'm glad my dh doesn't sew or else we'd be fighting over the machine and trying to outdo each other! :rotfl: Especially if he was as good as you, because I'm nowhere near that good!

ETA: My seam ripper has been my best friend lately! Might replace dh before long!

Hi, Lisa! You can see a picture of my chunky monkey you will be making all of the shirts for. Nice to have you join us!

hmmm am I the only one who feels like they will have more outfits than there are days in the parks? :rolleyes1

Um, I have made 6 outfits so far and we will be there four days. And Nana is shipping me some Epcot fabric and I have some Nemo fabric so that's two more in the works. And my mother is working a princess dress, so this child will have more than enough custom outfits! :rotfl:

I love that the duck is swimming in the ric rac! I think it looks great and your Q is just fine! I would love to see it on your daughter if you get a chance.

Hey, we are in Palm Harbor (don't know if you remember). I have always lived on the Gulf side of Florida and I really like it best. One of my friends from Jersey says it's like bathwater and prefers the Atlantic. I guess we are lucky either way!

I stayed up way to late smocking last night. This is really going to be a practice makes perfect kind of project. I started practicing cable stitches. The first row is a mess. I figured it out after I finished. Then I did the second row. I was not making my stitches even and tight enough at first.

Then I started the waves. The first wave was not long enough I may end up cropping that row out. The border is for the Mermaid smocking plate that will end up being Ariel!

Here is the first look.

Whew! I just went thru 15 pages to get caught up. I need to log in every day! Thats why I wasn't getting emails. ^_^

Hope everyone is well and I'm amazed at what everyone has been up to lately. Gorgeous! Gorgeous!
