Catherine & Jesse - PJ & TR: TR Day 2 - hair & make up trial, updated 11/5

Congratulations!!

We got engaged the day after you... October 20, 2007.

I love dress #1.

Good morning, Catherine! I have to vote for #1, as well. I have this philosophy -- you only get to do the poofy dress for your wedding. It's not like you'd wear that for an evening gown or to a black-tie event, right? I just think a wedding dress has to be a dream dress of a style that you'd never get to wear for anything else.

All that said, you will look absolutely gorgeous in any of those choices! Have fun with the selection process, try a bunch of dresses and find your "dream" dress! :sunny:

ETA: Okay, I feel like a total goof! Was your name always in the title of your planning journal? :rolleyes2 Silly me! I was looking at your user name and your signature!
BTW, you need to add your engagement pic to your signature. It is way too cute!

Hi Catherine,
So glad you started a PJ. I LOVE your ring. It is so pretty! Can't wait to hear all of the details!!!

Hi Keira! Thanks for reading along! Have you heard back from Randy yet? I can't wait to see your engagement pix!

you need to go with #1. poofiness is a word. if the poof is important to you then you need to go with it. that's one of the reasons i'm a 2 dress bride, my #1 didn't have enough poof!

Yea, something about the poof screams "I'm the BRIDE!" I just love it! :goodvibes

I STILL cant believe nobody told me. SHOCKED. just SHOCKED.
Hello everyone MOH here :goodvibes Incredible on far left:yay:

Ah! And here is my sister and MOH :woohoo:

Hi Catherine! All of your plans look great so far! I like all three of the dresses, but I also like #1 the best. Every girl needs a little extra "poofiness" on her big day! It's absolutely gorgeous!

Thanks Shanna! I was a little bit worried that it was too much poof because I'm on the shorter side - 5"0 to be exact and I was afraid the poof would make me look even shorter.

Hey there!! My vote is for dress #3. I love all of the embroidery and the way that the sash cascades in the back. :goodvibes

I love this dress too. Its just so elegant. The other thing I love about this dress is that its so light. Well compared to dress #1 that is. It might work better because October can still be kind of hot. I'm definitely going to put this on my "dresses to try on" list.

Congratulations!!

Wow Cam! That I couldn't agree with that philosophy more :goodvibes! You are too cute! Don't worry about the whole name thing - actually speaking of names, I keep calling you Cam from your user name and I'm not even sure if thats your name :rotfl:.

Thank you so much for your wedding dress opinions! I think one day I'm just going to go in and try on every Maggie Sottero dress I can get my hands on and go from there. I will definitely post those pictures because it is so different seeing a dress on the actual person than a model.

Anyway, on to shoes!!! I'm only 5"0 and DF is 5"11. I definitely want something with a heel because I don't want him to look like a giant compared to me. These are my favorite so far:

These other 2 are also cute and have a lower heel:

What do you think?

Catherine – They are all really cute. Key consideration –your shoes MUST be comfortable! You don’t want to forego walking to different places to take pix or having your feet hurt during dancing at your reception. My philosophy on shoes (LOL!!!) is that if I am making decisions about whether to walk over and greet someone or whether to dance or whether to pose for one more picture based on the fact that my feet hurt, I chose the wrong shoes! :lmao:

Oh, and yes, my name is Cam. :)

Haven't heard back from Randy yet. Friday will be 3 weeks since the pictures, so I will hopefully hear something soon! I couldn't see the dresses, it says the website is doing maintence so I will check back later, but I love the first shoes, I am looking at those for me as well.

Hi Catherine! I really like the first 2 dresses. I think that either of them would look really good on you.

I tried on #1 on saturday, and it's SUCH a beautiful dress. I'm really into the poof factor, so that's why it caught my eye.

You will love it! I didn't have a "the one" moment with it, but it's one of my front runnners :goodvibes

I love shoe #1 too.. the more heel, the better (I'm 5'11, so I never get to wear heels :sad2:.) You're so lucky you do! :)

ETA I got engaged the day before you! That was a great weekend! heh

I agree with you that the shoes should be comfortable. I almost decided to wear flip flops because I LIVE in flip flops. I decided not to go with them because DF is almost a foot taller than me. I figure its my wedding day and I can be 5'3 if I want to ;) . I really do love shoe #1, maybe I should order them now and take the time to break them in. Is it silly to buy the shoes before the dress?

i like #1!!!

It is my favorite of the 3. I also thought about buying the ones you bought at David's Bridal. I believe they were called Marissa? Do you remember how much they were? I think those have a lower heel than shoe #1.

I think the site is back up now. Let me know what you think ;). The shoes are from a company called Coloriffics and the name of the shoe is Desire. They are dyeable which is also a plus.

Thank you mla1977!

Awww I love your proposal story!! I'm glad you started a PJ... I cant wait to read more!

Hi Kristen! I'm glad you stopped by! Were you able to get a lot done this weekend at Disney?

Congratulations on your engagement! I think there is another disbride here that got engaged that weekend also.
Yay! You tried on the dress too!! I don't know that I got "the one" moment in it either, but I know I really love it. I think I'll know for sure if its the one after I try on a couple more. I'm into the poof too, but not too much poof. I feel like that dress has just the right amount.
Wow, whats it like to be so tall? :rotfl: Its funny you say that because I'm jealous of you! People think I'm still 16:headache:.

Catherine -- Have you considered a wedge flip flop? A lot of the girls, including my DD, wore them to the prom and they were really cute. Very decorated with satin trim over the top of the foot, embellished with sequins. I'd bet you could find very fancy wedge flip flops if you were interested. DD said the good thing is they give you the comfort of a flip flop and the height of a heel, without all of your weight being on the ball of your foot. Does that make sense? Just something to consider.

As for buying the shoe early, the only disadvantage I see is if you ultimately decided to go with a non-white gown and had purchased a white shoe.

Hi Kristen! I'm glad you stopped by! Were you able to get a lot done this weekend at Disney?

I sure did! Hopefully i'll have time to update my PJ tonight.

I completely missed the posts about your dress and shoes... dont know how that happened! I like dress #1 (you're right, it is more princess-ey) and i like shoe #2. I tried on a few like #1 and the heel wouldnt stay on my foot.

People still think I'm young, even though I'm so tall! I always get IDed (even in Canada) and I got pulled over a few weeks ago because the cop thought I was too young to be driving :confused3

yes, i have a pair of marissa shoes. they were really cheap. i think under $50. i remember thinking that they were super cheap and looked very similar to stuff they have in the department stores for a lot more money!

Thanks Cam! Thats a great idea. I will have to look into it. I know what you mean about buying the shoes early. I'm pretty sure I will be getting a white gown, but who knows - I may change my mind.

I sure did! Hopefully i'll have time to update my PJ tonight.

Wow really? That hasn't happened to me yet. I've been asked to show ID when I go to see rated R movies. I keep my ID in my back pocket when I go into casinos . Oh well, I'm sure I'll appreciate it when I'm in my older years :).

I agree. I love that shoe too, its very simple. I wanted to get shoes that maybe I can dye and wear some other time too.

Here are a few bouquets that I really like. I want my bouquet to be mainly purple, but not all purple. I also definitely want stephanotis with little hidden mickeys in them to go with my theme. I'm not really fond of greenery so I'm going to skip those. I think my bridesmaids are going to have bouquets similar to mine, only smaller.

I also really like this bouquet, but I would like some purple colored roses in there

After doing some research, it looks like some of the most popular purple colored flowers are allure roses, cool water roses, blue bird roses, and blue curiosa roses. I've also seen some purple mini calla lillies that are really pretty too.

I love bouquet jewels, I think they are so cute. I haven't decided if I'm going to get them yet, but if I do - I want to either get our initials or the butterfly. The jewels are kind of pricey though.

i'm making my own bouquet jeweled initials out of initial necklaces i bought that were on sale for the holidays. i also bought a huge rhinestone pin that i'm going to convert as well!
