Week of May 4th WISH Walking/Running Club

While I'm working on a proper trip report (sorry it's taking so long!), I wanted to try and get back in the swing of things here on the events thread...

Carrie - Too bad I missed you at the airport also (saw Amy wave, but didn't know who she was waving to!)..and what a bummer about DL, but I bet the San Antonio race will be AWESOME!

RoyalCinderella - WELCOME! This is such a great team to be a part of. I think they'll make a great event out of the Princess Half and it will be a great first Disney event for you :)

Leana
- Nice to have met you and glad you got back safely. Congrats on that PR, nice work!!

Claire
- Thanks...I'm so hungry now for some ice cream or cake or candy or chocolate now after reading that post :goodvibes:

Cosi Bella - Enjoy the pilates!! You'll find it helps out the running a TON!!

Joan - Congrats on the nice post-Minnie run!! I've got to get back out there myself at some point.

Cecilia
- Cool that you are gonna run just for the sport of it :) I hope it goes well for you

Corinna
- Was nice meeting you this past weekend, you did an awesome job...loved the TR!

TXAng
- Sorry to hear about that nasty stomach cramp...were you able to get back out there today??

Craig - Great job on the 15k! It was nice meeting you and fun running with you for a few.

Krista - How's Carter?? :)

Christa - Great Half report! Can't believe that course!! Looks like you guys had a blast out there though, and that's what it's all about :goodvibes:

Debra - HI! No photos of Bingham in a compromising situation, but there may be one or two that you'll get a kick out of. Missed reading your posts over the last few days...hope all is well with you.

Amy - Miserable and grumpy are two words I would not use to describe you...it was a tough run for you, it happens to everyone from time to time. I still enjoyed every step, thanks for doing these races with me!

Scott's World
- I know I missed many of you who have posted, but I'll have to catch up as the thread moves forward. I did zero training other than the races this past weekend, so it's time to get back into the swing of things. I might do a 5k on Memorial Day weekend and might do the Peachtree on July 4, so that would give me a couple of things to train for. I'm toying with the idea of adding strength training again (after failing miserably the last few times I've said that statement) and/or adding another day of running. For now I think I'll finish out this week with some fitness center cardio tonight, a 4-5 miler tomorrow, back to the FC on Friday, a nice bike ride on Saturday and some sort of 6-8 mile long run on Sunday.

Between the layoffs taking place here at work and the huge emptiness that I have from returning home after an amazing week in WDW, it will be good to just try and work some of it out by getting back into the training groove.

I'll say once again, it was a pleasure meeting the folks that I did during the Minnie experience. You guys are all wonderful people...thanks for making it such a fun trip to the world!

I hope everyone has a great day!

Sorry I haven't been able to put together a race report yet. I just want to say thank you to all the WISHer's that were out in force this weekend. We had a great showing. I had a really fun time and enjoyed my first (and I guess) last Minnie. I know alot have commented on how humid it was on Sunday but to me it seemed really nice. Being from south Florida probably helped with that one - I found the weather to be great that morning and even went through patches of what felt like air conditioning (but I know it wasn't since I felt it when we weren't in a park as well as in Epcot around World Showcase) I heard the comments about the high humidty in Oct at the TOT race but then again I am so use to it that it didn't seem to bother me. I must say this weekend was alot less humid than the TOT race. I barely look like I am sweating in the finish picture from Sunday.

I am planning on going for a walk this afternoon after work with my friend. She strictly walks and mostly on the TM at the gym but occasionally will walk along the sidewalk by the beach. Since that is my normal training route I am joining her for a walk. No running for me today. I probably won't run again until this weekend. I just don't want to take a big layoff like I did after the 13k.

Mel- Great job on the “Endurance PR”.

Craig- Good job on the 3rd place.

Morgan- I know the course you are talking about in Lakewood. If you run closer to the center of the road you usually will have less potholes. As far as sidewalk running goes on that course it doesn’t shorten the route so I don’t see it being a big deal. If you run on the right sidewalk you actually make the route longer since the turnaround is to the left. The biggest disadvantage to running on the sidewalk is actually that they are usually cement while streets are usually blacktop. It might not seam like a big deal but the blacktop is much softer and better on the ankles.

Eva- I saw on the bio page you plan on doing the Akron half this fall. I did it last year and it is a great race. It is well organized and the spectators were really good, especially at about mile 10 when you go back towards U. of Akron. The course is pretty brutal though so make sure to get some hill work in.

Chris- How was the Flying pig? It looks like there are some challenging hills. Had my vacation not been so close to the race I had planned on running it this year. I will be doing it though because I want to do the Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincy halfs. So far I can only check off the Cleveland one.

Debra/Craig- I will be in Siena for the CL final and can not wait. Even though no Italian teams will be in it I am looking forward to seeing how proper calcio fans watch a game.

I haven’t had anything really to report. I have just been plodding out the miles and getting ready for the bike trip. Speaking of which, I got the hotel information for Venice and Florence today. I have all the flight/hotel info now for the whole trip with the exception of where we are staying in Rome. Can you tell I am excited? I found out that the place we are staying in Venice is literally overlooking one of the canals. I will be doing a dawn run along it the first day since I am sure the 6 hour time difference will mean I am up at 3:00am. I know once I am back I am going to want to start doing bi’s and then tri’s but the start up costs are pretty high. Maybe I will get a big enough refund next year to put towards a bike and tri suit.

Hi, everyone! Sorry I have been MIA, but I was sick with allergies last week, then away at the Minnie and pretty sick since I've been back. I have almost no voice, so it's a good thing I didn't have any hearings this week.

Minnie Weekend -- I am so sorry I didn't get to meet a lot of our newest team members. With almost no voice, it was kind of hard to say "hi" to everyone. What a fabulous time, though. I'll do a race report on the other thread, but I wanted to thank everyone here for all the encouragement in the weeks leading up to the race. I can say without a doubt that this was my favorite Disney race ever. Rhonda and I jogged occasionally and our splits for those parts of the race are something I am proud of. It looks like every time we jogged, we were right around the jogging pace that I've been training at on the treadmill. So, my body remembered that and how to do it. Cool stuff when a training plan works! :thumbsup2

No training Monday, but I did get up at 5:30 Tuesday morning (after arriving home late Monday night) and went to the gym for Couch to 5k Week 3, Day 1-- couldn't let down my training buddy. Oh, and a HUGE shoutout to pjstevens who did W3D1 Sunday night and was smoking W3D2 :cool1: while I was dying on the treadmill next to her on Tuesday morning. :faint: Boy, were those 3 minute running intervals tough!! Especially with a tight hamstring (where did that come from? :confused3 ). Looking forward to W3D2 tomorrow and hoping I'll feel stronger at the end of that session.

I know there are other threads to do this more appropriately, but I absolutely must mention here that the WISH team was a HUGE source of pride for me this weekend. Not only was there a sea of lime green and other teammates who weren't wearing lime, but I can't tell you the number of times I heard teammates spreading encouragement and kudos on and along the course to everyone around them. Coming toward the finish line and seeing and hearing so many of my teammates cheering for ALL the race participants made me choke up. Very cool, guys. Very cool! :grouphug:

Good evenig . I'm new to this board. I live in the beautifull province de Québec and like my nickname says my first language is french so you will have to excuse my grammar. Otherwise, I will have to write in french (LOL).. Like all of you, I'm a disney fan. Last year I was there for the Minnie and loved it.
Next year, to celebrate my 50th birthday, I will be at the Princess half-marathon (not because i'm a princess, but for the break in the winter). I've been running for fitness for a lot of years but now I want to do races for the challenge. I've been lurking this board for a couple months and now here I am. Bonne soirée, good evening.

French Lady - So glad you came out of lurk-dom!!! Welcome to WISH team! Look forward to hearingmore about your training!!! (And anythign else that you may want to share. ;) )

GOOD EVENING TEAM!!!!

You will NEVER believe what we just did. It is official, both DH and I are official:

:scared1: WE SIGNED UP FOR THE DISNEY FULL!!!!!!:scared1:

So now I have to get serious about core/pilates/strength all the "stuff" I need to do to make sure I make it to the starting line good and strong. Once again I am so thankful to my WISH team for all the help through the MINNIE training because it gave me some ideas of what to do and what NOT TO DO, when getting ready for the FULL!!!!

I did rest tonight, last night I did BodyStep - haven't done that in forever!!! and BodyPump.

BTW -
Amy I read your report on the other thread and let me say that I was completely HONORED to cross the finish line with you. I am so very sorry that you did not accomplish all that you hoped to this weekend. I will second what a lot of other people said about how hard you ran the 5k on Saturday and how much that takes out of you. Also it was wicked HOT :scared1: this year compared to last year. I do however understand your frustration  it's all relative. My pace this year turned out a little over 9.5 which is great but last year I finished with an 8:58 pace so of course there is a little disappointment!!! You ROCK!!!!

And for those of you who did not see the pic on the other thread, here is me and Amy right before we crossed the finish: AMY ROCKS!!!!:dance3:

Now I want to say:

ROYALCINDERELLA :welcome: ANOTHER NEW WISHER!!!! YEAH!!! I hope your "first day" went well. I have much respect for those who have to do a lot of training on inside tracks. Living in the sunshine state we do most training year round outside. Of course July and August prove a bit difficult with the heat. I know there are many negatives to the princess marathon but personally I have done the Disney 1/2 and the MINNIE and I think EVERY Disney race is awesome and really the princess course is an extension of the MINNIE and I LOVE THE MINNIE!!!! YOu are going to have an awesome time and I am so glad you have chosen to share your journey with us!!!!
French Lady :welcome: to you too!!!! We are going to make so many new friends joining us for the princess marathon. Maybe you can teach us some French over the next 10 months. I took 2 years of it in High School and didn't learn anything!!!! I think it is amazing that you are going to celebrate your 50th bday doing a 1/2 Marathon
Firedancer Your trip sounds amazing. The one thing I want to do before I die is visit Italy!!! You are so lucky!!
Tricia I hope your walk went well!!! I know what you mean about not wanting to lay off!
Carrie I don't know what to tell you about the San Antonio, as you guys know I am kind of the reckless - GO FOR IT!!! - kind of girl!! BTW -- :dance3: AWESOME JOB PR'ING THE MINNIE!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so proud of you!!!
Leana    5 MINUTES!!!!! That is amazing!!! It was so good to see you again!!! Can't wait to see you in January!!

OK I can't go any farther, have to get kids to bed.

BTW - in case you guys did not realize, I am so stoked about January because it will be our first FULL!!! :scared1:

Amy! I read your RR and I have to say this is is what happened to me at charlotte marathon....I had to come to the place where I needed to figure out what I wanted and needed from running. More stress was not the choice for me...and always PRing caused stress....so I know where you stand.
Your life, like mine, has enough stress in it and running is what I do to work through the stress. From what I read...you did wonderful and I am so proud of you getting out there and running even though you did not feel like it.

Add me to the list of people who aren't sure about the Princess Half, even though I'm tempted by an inaugural event and meeting more WISHers. The racce seems like a good deal for DOOD and me, as it falls during his institution's Spring Break. But it's during SPRING BREAK, among other irritating aspects like the resort transportation--oh, and a household budget--to consider. Anyone want to talk me into it?

Allie: Does your post mean we're not going to see you in January 09? I forget.

CarolA: Another non-princess type here. Still, don't you think that special Tiara Medal would make princesses of us all, even those of us who think of ourselves as more pirate-y? pirate: Seriously, though, I think I'm going to focus on the January events and a fall one at this point, and your reasoning seems sound. I hope you got away from your conference for a little Disney fun!

Vic: If you have nothing significant to report, how about something insignificant to report about your runs? Like the color of your shoelaces? I'm just overinvested in your life, I guess. For instance, I found it very useful to know you, the much more experienced of the two of us, want a 405. Helps validate my want-wants as a need-need.

Angie: What I love most about your posts about the Minnie is that you really did concentrate on being at the whole of the event--not just the race but the social experience and being with WISHers. You also paid attention to your body's needs. Now I think your pace was awesome, and your quads are telling you that you challenged yourself, but I just loved hearing you had the total experience! What a good way for the Minnie to go down in the history books for you. :dance3:

And speaking of good races, :yay: for you and DH signing up for the full! Not only will it be a fabulous event, I do think it will help you focus on all those things you want to work on: core, Pilates, strength training. Plus, we'll be on the same course (if not at the same time--I'll have your back).

Aloha Jeff: Thank you for the quick rundown on the 405. I'm almost certain I will get one down the road, and am hoping to see one at the Cleveland Expo. And I'm with you on having the watch in Black. No one can convince me that Kermit Green is an acceptable substitute for Lime Green, which itsnot (thank you, Mr. Jungle Cruise). Have you told the Queen about the top finishers?

Sometime, when you get a chance, I'd like to hear about how you met your running Guru. And maybe more on how you and Mooshu decided to run together.

TXAng: Yeah, Kennywood is supposed to have good roller coasters, but I'm more of a theme-park lover than an amusement park one. Confession: I've not been to Kennywood yet, but the area around it is kind of, well, dumpy. Not much of a draw, even though I know I'll go at least once this summer since it's so close. Who knows? It could be fabulous.

Don't let your W4D1 session get you down. You only fail if you don't try it. The cramps sound pretty miserable, but you're going to do it again and finish the session, I know it. :yay:

Mel: That's great news about running a good race & feeling the difference a good base & training makes in finishing strong and having fun. I also loved that you and Jen got to run together and your different intervals didn't mess you up. I have such fond memories of the two of you on the January course; you were really an inspiration to me. (I know I've said it before, but heck! It's worth repeating.)

Craig: Have I thanked you yet for all the good advice and coaching you've given all the Minnie-goers? I know I've benefitted from it in terms of my training for Cleveland. And it makes me smile to know you enjoyed watching others' accomplishments as much as you enjoyed your blazing success!

Cecilia: I'm glad you had the opportunity to spend time with your Dad and to say goodbye. Did you avoid your tantrum with a good run, as you so greatly deserve something that makes you feel good. :goodvibes

MB Michelle: Have I mentioned to you I'm a cupcake lover? And that I'd be willing to serve on snake-patrol detail in exchange for a baker's dozen? :rolleyes1

Eva: Yay for getting back on course, hills or no hills! (No hills is better anyway, IMO!)

Kristi: I know what you mean by the depression about missing the Minnie. I didn't even know what I was missing, but could feel it. And I keep telling myself that it's because I'm a responsible adult, but I've been acting like a sulky adolescent. :lmao:

Claire: WTG with having a rock-climbing route in your name. And orange! (What level is lime green?) I don't envy you moving out of your dorms, although it wouldn't be bad if your stuff moved itself. Even if it gets the HR up, moving seems far less enjoyable than any of the activities you usually describe. And that includes "beginning cake decorating" and "chocolate candy." If I'd only taken those classes back in the day....

Allyson: Great job on W5D2. You faced the running barrier and sped right over it! As we all knew you would.

Kim: Wow! W1D2, 1 mile walk, a 4K, and kickboxing. Someone here also kicks booty, and that would be you. I do hope we get some training insights on doing races mid-marathon training. Maybe we need a Training Questions thread?

Kira: The Disney/Poly planning is progressing, I assume. And your running funk has passed, I hope, with a couple of great runs. What ballet were your DDs in, and do you have pics to share?

Morgan: A 405 as an accessory. Hah! I'd never get one, then, as I'm not really a girly-girl. Not well put-together, so to speak. I do try to shower daily, however. :upsidedow As far as racing etiquette, Betsy's answer is probably the most useful one for races generally. I'll give you my self-centered, situational one. I think on a course such as the one you describe it would be acceptable to run on the sidewalk rather than risk injury. Such a short race, on roads like that? Naw, I wouldn't worry about sticking strictly to the course.

Joan: How many days off after a race did you take total? Just wondering for my own recovery plans. Not wondering as strongly about that as I am about the cookies, but asking the question about recovery makes me feel more like an athlete.... Speaking of being an athlete, you've definitely got the running bug. It's a disease I tell you.

Jackie: Your Garmin is your best friend, huh? That's pretty high praise, and it says something about your loyalty that you're not willing to throw that friendship away for the new hotness! It's too bad about your blood bank experience. :sad2: I'm impressed you're awake enough at 5 a.m. to laugh at the idea of the TM (and to hear the alarm), and hope your week gets easier as Saturday and your group run approaches.

Tracy: Wow, you're doing back-to-back events. Your RRCA Florida racewalking 5K Open Division sounds interesting. I don't know much about racewalking--what does it mean for you, competitively? I imagine Garmi and the new 405 (which will be named....) are very helpful for your training in ways that I can't imagine right now in my Nike+ world. (Btw, thanks for posting your Eye2Eye shirt fit & evaluation. Very helpful.)

Betsy: So, you *might* be in for the Princess half due to spring break? Dang it all, that's the kind of enticement I'm hoping to avoid. As for your planned indulgences, remember you're allowed only the planned indulgences. No sugar cookies. :rotfl: Don't make me use my Jillian stare-down. :scared1: :thumbsup2

And how are you "making the cut" today?

Jen: I've seen some of the meet pics with you in them--and covet one of those Ohana bandanas--and think you look fabulous. Still, I understand the ambivalence about one's pictures. I haven't had a picture taken of me that I truly like in years. Oh, it's SO cool that you ran with Mel using her intervals. You must have an iron will. I hope that your WI weather in warming up and you'll get to run outside, asthma-free.

Stephanie: "Good times." I have a friends who say that, in his deadpan way. Always cracks me up. Thanks for making me smile at the thought of landscaping.

Scott: And THANK YOU for posting updates on your exciting weekend on your blog. It was the next best thing to being there. (Okay, it wasn't even close, but I still loved reading your posts.)

RoyalCinderella: Welcome to WISH. :cheer2: It's great to see another C25K graduate, another FT wedding princess, and someone for whom W.I.S.H. carries special meaning. Your plans for the Princess half sound delightful, and I know you'll find a home with us here. (I agree with Carrie--not a Princess girl, and am a bit in awe of those who are.)

Corrina: Woo hoo! You're back, and you did so well! (Not that I expected anything less from you and your hardcore self.)

Maura: Wow. Back to nice, long XT sessions already, Plus you're checking out the recommendations of three books, two on tris? Sounds like someone's embraced her athletic destiny all right! Welcome to the dark side.

Chris: Okay, I have to say it because you started with "on the horse." Way to get back in the saddle! (You asked for it.) And smart move on the slow, easy recovery runs. :thumbsup2

CB Michelle: May in WDW is wonderful! Good weather, beautiful landscaping, happy crowds. All great accents to a wedding. :cloud9: You've got plenty of time to shop for THE dress, and I hope that's fun for you. I figure if you have the patience for TJMaxx you can do the bridal shop thing. (Me, I'm just cheap.)

You actually have done tons of research on training, IMO. I'm a MfM girl, because I find it so inclusive and was able to tailor it to my needs. Unsolicited advice: I think the best training plan is the one that works for your needs and goals, of course, but cannot stress enough the importance of rest days and XT (including strength training and core work). These are things I tended to "overlook" or slight the last time--and I regretted it. Now I'm paying much more attention to the whole training package and not just the running. So I applaud you for getting into Pilates. Stick with it!

Mike: Thanks for the feedback on the CamelBak; it really sounds like it would be useful for me to have one. It's strange that I find myself getting interested in more HR-raising activities since I've started running; it seems like that happens to a lot of us. Now, I'm not a triathlete like you/Betsy/Cecilia/et al, but I love that you're here encouraging me to be a better, more well-rounded athlete.

Carrie:  for the PR, your feeling strong and happy about the race, and for enjoying the WISH meet and seeing friends. Of course, we missed you here, but it was more than worth dealing with your absence to learn that your Minnie served as a marker for your return to top form! I can hardly wait to see what you do in January!

Leana: Congrats on your HUGE PR (I wrote this, then read Amy's exact same statement--hah!) on the 15K--quite worth the jet lag, I'm sure. I hope your recovery & next training plans take you to the next level, wherever it is that you want to be.

Amy: Welcome back, girl! First, :woohoo: on your 5K PR. That speed work is paying off in that race, I think. I'm not the sentimental sort, but I loved reading about you crossing the finish line with WISHers and becoming part of the WISH cheer team. Made me a bit misty. I'm sorry about the humidity and its effect on you--I can't imagine how difficult it must have been. I'm even sorrier for your pace, not because I think it's bad but because of all the expectations with the training runs. I have to believe that your 5K pace is more representative of how you will get faster even on the long runs. And even though you're working on focusing on the FUN--as I am--I also think you enjoy challenging yourself with speed work, hills, etc., and that you should continue to do so in moderation. I think the balance between the fun and the training for improvement will provide you with the biggest satisfaction. Plus, I really groove on the training anecdotes, so you can't give those up. :rolleyes1

Scott: Welcome back Mr. Minnie-verse. (Craig gets the title of Mr. Alice Wonderland.) I missed you and your wittiness, and I'm ready to read your full-blown RR. No grass growing under those feet of yours, huh? Already planning your next races. Wow. And yay for making new training plans (woo hoo for strength training--although I'll deny saying that if you ask) as a coping mechanism for job stress and Disney withdrawal. Much healthier than eating chocolate-chip cookies. Plus, that means more for me. P.S. Were there no situations for pictures of Bingham in a compromising position to be taken? No pictures taken? Or are you just choosing not to share?

Tricia: Congratulations on your good time (event and pace-wise) at the Minnie & for getting right back into an appropriately easy recovery. We'll try to inspire you to get back to running without an extended recovery time, although you sound pretty self-motivated to me.

Frank: I have absolutely no problem envisioning you as a bi/triathlete. You strike me as already in that mindset. Your Italy trip has ME excited. The opportunity to run along the canals in Venice sounds romantic, even if at dawn/3 a.m. Maybe even better than football or Disney. (I blaspheme, I know!)

Cam: Oooh, sorry to hear that you were voiceless over the weekend. That's pretty rough, especially since there were so many WISHers to meet up with. Good news that you're continuing to rock the C25K plan, even with tight hamstrings. I think that your body is going to like the challenge of C25K just as much as it responds to a solid training program!

French Lady: Welcome to WISH! :cheer2: It's great news to have you de-lurk and join the team. I'm so excited that you've signed up for the Princess Half--being a participant in an inaugural race will be a great way to celebrate your birthday!

Christa: Thank you for your post on running to alleviate and not induce stress. It helps put things in perspective for many of us. It certainly made me pause and think about what I want from running. And that's just another reason why I know you're so good at your job! :flower3:

As for me: No real time/energy for a post about me tonight. I've been overcommitted to the housing search--no new news there, although I do have a couple of anecdotes I'll share later--and dealing with my mitchiness over it. You know I try not to bring that to the DIS. I've been squeezing in WOs when I can, but it's not been a consistent week for exercise or reading the DIS. I think I'm going through withdrawal on both counts. And yet....I see these addictions as healthy. :confused3 :rotfl2:

Where does Deb find the time? :lmao: Oh wait, has anyone see her out running lately? House hunting with DOOD, a likely excuse. MMM HMMM.

Deb, I thought you read my blogspot below my signature?

That pretty much sums up how I blame Mooshu (Marcia) for me being a running nut? If not, check it out.
http://mkymsehi.blogspot.com/

Marcia is my original running Guru :worship:. We met way back in high school through a mutual friend, and became great friends despite going to rival high schools. Being runners with a Disney problem, it was inevitable we'd start racing together. She actually started running around 2000, and ran several WDW races before coming out to Honolulu in 2005. I didn't return to running until 2006, after an 11 year hiatus. The Disneyland Inaugural Half in 2006 was our first race together.

Here's Marcia's upcoming (June) AIDS Lifecycle race blogspot http://www.aidslifecycle.org/1506#blog. We're tossing around the idea of the 2009 Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon. We decided not to do the 2009 Goofy, and wait until 2010.

My local Guru is Les. He's about 62, retired, and can run circles around us younger kids. He's been with the Honolulu Marathon Clinic volunteer staff for years and years. He comfortably races at a 8 minute mile or Les (get it? :rotfl2: ) if he's in a groove. He usually runs about a 4:15 hour marathon. In another 20 years, I don't see myself being as fast as Les is now.

I try at all costs to avoid eye contact :scared: with Les on Tuesday's and Thursday's. Because just like the Goddess Mara at the Indiana Jones Temple of the Forbidden Eye, if you look into his eyes he makes you go for a fast run with him. :lmao: Thankfully on Sunday's I help lead the slower group, so I don't have to struggle chasing Les.

Cruella de Mom (Cecelia)
: Come on now, haven't you ever dreamed of coming to Hawaii in December, when it's the peak of winter and you're up to your nose in snow? (Honestly, I do not work for the Honolulu Visitors Convention Bureau.) :beach:

Online registration for Honolulu should be available in mid-June, according to the website. http://www.honolulumarathon.org/site3.aspx

Welcome to the WISH boards to all the newbies. :welcome:

Enjoyed reading everyone's Minnie weekend race reports, and all the team photos.:thumbsup2

DKP---I have to report that I was a little bad tonight and had a glass of white wine. :sad2: Please give me a Jillian talking-to and not allow that again! My "excuse" was that I lost 5 lbs in 6 days and I was worried that was too much (considering my start weight was 130.5, and my goal is about 122). I didn't think it was healthy to lose everything so fast. But on the good side...the people I visited had a fish fry, and I went to my workout first, then brought over my chicken and wild rice, so I didn't eat the other stuff. :thumbsup2

So...did I report yesterday I finally ran on land for the first time in a few weeks? It seemed to go well, so hopefully my tri this weekend will be ok.
Biked and swam today. Tomorrow, it's back to the gym to see what Jillian has in store for a weight workout (via her book), and another swim workout.

Welcome to our new people!
RoyalCinderella, you mentioned TX in regards to spring breaks...what part of TX are you from?

Just want to pop in and report that I was able to get in a 4.5 mile walk with my friend yesterday. It was nice and relaxing.

I have to run (not literally) now because I have an all day meeting off site from work and I can't be late.

Deb - SOrry teh housing search has gone so poorly! Have you tried expanding your search radius to mor than 1/4 mile frm teh ice cream shops? :rotfl: Thanks for teh kind words. Don't worry, though, I'm sure I'll be due sfro another stonker in January. I'd hate to break my streak of being worse every year. ;)

Scott - :grouphug: :grouphug: Hope teh post-WDW and post-Amy blues lessen quickly! BTW, I looked ro you when I saw AMy, but didn't see you either, so I gues you are forgivine. :p

Angie - SO glad you did well Sunday. How are you doing now? BTW, I'm confused. WIll this be your first 1/2 or oyur first full? Either way, I'm excited for you!

For all that sent Hi's adn hugs to Scott - Thansk so much! It made him feel good to know he was missed. I feel more like a schmuck, but that's ok. ;)

What's teh best way to get dh to commit to aother trip? Show him your WDW count down that shows some 280+ days. :rotfl: I need to wait to see if SOuthwest has decent airfare, but he is definitely chomping at the bit for a trip, especially one that includes WISHers!

Thanks for the heads up on the post, our first full!!! I was still in shock at the fact that we actually committed and that I spent THAT MUCH MONEY signing up!!! :rotfl: I feel great this week, my quads were sore but I can handle that.

That's what I thought, but maybe I had missed th tyou were going Goofy or something.

French lady -- Welcome! :welcome: Can’t wait to hear how your training goes! :cool1:

Amy – I am so sorry that you were unhappy with your 15k, but by now the more experienced runners have reminded you that we all have bad days and you had run all out the day before for the 5k. I am so proud of you, Amy, for how far you have come in such a short time. And a "bad" run for you was absolutely awe-inspiring for so many of us! Thank you for being such an inspiration!

Carrie – I am so proud of you for all you accomplished at the Minnie! What an awesome result you had AND you were having fun! Those ASI pix of you show the Carrie we all LOVE to see – smokin’ and smilin’!!!

Craig – Man, you ROCK!!!!! Demons, be gone, right!?!?!!! I am so happy that you got to do that last part of the marathon course in a way that you will always remember proudly! And, if that weren’t fabulous enough, there you are up there at the top of the results list, completely entitled to the BRONZE MEDAL!!! Congratulations, my friend! (Oh, and if Howard’s sluggishness on Saturday caused you to get some unexpected and never-before-achieved rest, I am REALLY glad you and Charlie talked him into making the trip to Orlando! )

Deb— I WISH you lived around here, so we could help you and DOOD in your apartment quest. Good luck this weekend!

Angie – It was so great to see you at the Expo and to meet your Mom. I am thrilled that she enjoyed her race experience and how awesome that you and Amy were able to cross the finish together! Geez, you guys look like sisters in that picture, both beautiful, fit, strong, smiling women! Oh, and CONGRATS on signing up for the FULL!! :woohoo: I'll be out there majorly WISH scream teaming!!!! Although I should probably my voice to say my vows Monday. ;) Howard might take it personally if I stand there mute! :rotfl:

RoyalCinderella – :welcome: You have found a great place for support and advice and we are all so excited to hear how your training progresses! :cool1:

Firedancer – your trip sounds so interesting and exciting! What a great opportunity!

Mel – Congratulations on your great race! I know how amazing it is to have a great race partner, too, so while ordinarily I might have envied you and Jen, I am so blessed to have my own fabulous race partner, Rhonda, to share the course with. AND this event, we got to share the last mile or so with Heather, too, so that was totally cool. :grouphug: Congrats again to you and Jen for your fabulous race!

Congratulations to all of our awesome teammates who were out at races this past weekend or who were getting in great runs/walks! It all makes us smarter and stronger for whenever and wherever the next race is!

I was up at 5:30 this morning ONLY because I knew Patty would be at the gym for us to do C25k together. It was W3D3 for her but only W3D2 for me. I am hoping to feel much stronger when I do W3D3 on Saturday, so that I won’t be so intimidated at the prospect of moving to week 4 next week. My right hamstring is still really tight, so I stretched it a lot this morning and did an easy ½ mile on the TM before Patty got there and then we did our week 3 workout. I am still so congested that there isn’t much room for air in my lungs. The fortunate thing for those around me is I still have almost no voice. Yeah, my secretary is LOVING my dictation tapes. Poor thing!

Oh, and by the way, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! to my training buddy and friend, Patty! :cake: party: :cool1:

I feel badly about not getting to everyone, but unfortunately, I have to turn back to the work piled on my desk. Have a great day, everyone! :grouphug:

I did get in a much needed therapeutic run. Then came home to find my Peachtree Road Race application in my mailbox. I was one of 8000 that didn't get in. What a bummer. ALL 55,000 spots were gone in one days mail! Amazing.

But my BIL has asked me to do the runs for him on his summer triathlons! So I still have some races to keep me motivated.

Thanks for the heads up on the post, our first full!!! I was still in shock at the fact that we actually committed and that I spent THAT MUCH MONEY signing up!!! :rotfl: I feel great this week, my quads were sore but I can handle that.

How exciting!!! Its gonna be so much fun, you'll see. and um, you have yet to begin spending money...... Marathoning is NOT a cheap sport! Lucky for me, my husband does triathlons and all I have to do is say "how much were the new tires for your bike?" and I have a race entry (even Disney!)

ironz - you are right, you don't want to lose that weight too fast. A glass of wine isn't quite off the charts either. At least it wasn't a bowl of ice cream or a dozen oreo cookies. You are doing great, rewards are important too.

Jeff- One year, when I am not training for Goofy, I will do the Honolulu Marathon. Its on my list.

Well, I am watching the temperature climb as I type so I better get moving!

Cecilia

Cecelia - I was thinking of you an your family last weekend. Sorry you had to come home to not so fun news. :(

Just popping in to say "hello" to everyone to what I sometimes think of as the "big kids" thread. I'm so sorry I was unable to attend either of the WISH meets. Saturday evening John and I were doing some heavy duty bonding time with someone I strongly expect is going to be our future son-in-law and Sunday evening Nancy and I were at Victoria and Alberts with our hubbies.....getting totally sloshed, I might add. Warning: do not do a wine pairing meal right after running an event.......that alcohol went straight to our thirsty bloodstream and the 2 of us provided a good deal of entertainment for those around us. If we ever want to make another ressie at V&As again, we're gonna have to use a phony name!

It was so good to see the few WISHers that we did catch at the start/finish.
I always think of this as the running thread, since I mostly post on Windwalker's walking thread, but as one of you so aptly pointed out, it's really for all of us. So I am going to try to get over here a little more and not be such a stranger.

I don't know how many of you "front-of-the-pack" people caught this on race day, so I will share it here......About 2 minutes into the race as the last of the group was going over the start line, the announcer says something to the effect of "Let's give a big shout out to all the members of the Wish FOUNDATION who have come out in such a strong showing for this event!"
I'm sure he was thinking we were part of the Make a Wish group. Nancy and I just about peed in our spandex! I wear my WISH shirt for all my events and I get comments like that all the time. Too funny!
