attractions that need to go!!

Sad to see some of the responses here. :(

There are a few rides/attractions I don't care for, so I don't go on them. Doesn't mean they should be taken away, as there are others who do enjoy them.

WDW is a huge place, something for everyone. Enjoy what you like, and leave alone what you don't like. :)

And with all sorts of you tube videos there is no reason to go on a ride/attraction and not know what it's all about or that it would scare your kids because it's dark.

Agreed.

It's much like the recent thread about the Tomorrowland Speedway. Some people have no use for it. For others, it is a very important attraction.

I don't like the idea of taking down the Tiki Room. Not at all. Some people do. Grrr. On the flip side, I wouldn't mind if they took out Jungle Cruise. Walt Disney's original desire of having real animals as part of a ride was largely accomplished with the safari attraction at AK. And the cruise has a huge footprint. It could be replaced by multiple attractions. But for many guests, a ride on the JC is as important to them as the Tiki Room is for me. And I know that, and respect that fact and their feelings.

A ride doesn't really need to be removed until it substantially underperforms or becomes a hazard for some reason.

Thats the beauty of its a small world it's another one of walt's big things disney just had a big celebration for the 50th anniversary I love its a small world ride it every time I'm in WDW. It is outdated but not every ride needs to be 3D and the most advanced thing possible. Also it has come a long want from the original version 50 years ago.

I don't think it's "outdated" any more than The Haunted Mansion or POTC is "outdated".

I prefer to call them "timeless".;)

Yeah...Jungle Cruise isn't going anywhere. It's actually a really popular ride. I love it at night! Last time we were there we had an absolutely hilarious guide!:lmao: The girl could have been a professional stand-up comedian with boundless energy to spare at 11 p.m.:hyper:

The Jungle Cruise is much like The Great Movie Ride at DHS. It can rise or fall depending on the caliber of the guide.

I think you people really go to Disney way too much if you think Epcot is a half-day park. Its obvious you've lost the "magic" from being too familiar.
For us I'm not even sure if Epcot would be a half day park if not for World Showcase. With only a few exceptions, Future World is lame and outdated. And yes, we have been many, many times. :)

I really enjoyed the Hall of Presidents but thought it started getting depressing after Teddy Roosevelt, I don't know if it's simply recent Presidents haven't had enough time to reach the iconic status of the older Presidents but there was only 1 President in the last 100 years I actually like. I won't say who because I don't want to get political. ;)

As to the OP's question, NO and NO. No reason to get rid of rides that many people still enjoy unless they absolutely have to for space reasons.

Um..... FDR alone would qualify as iconic. Many would argue Kennedy, Eisenhower, Reagan, and Clinton as well especially when looking at the historical rankings put out every few years.... I mean there were some bad presidents but to say a lack of Iconic after Teddy????

I love the classics and as the mom of a 7 year old boy we have to drive cars every time on the speedway..but Figment can go away

To be honest one ride that doesn't fit the theme of Hollywood Studios is one that is consider popular by the older generation. Rockin Roller Coaster has no business being in a zone based off of the 1930's of Hollywood. Now the idea works fine and would be ok if it was in a land dedicated say to the music industry of Hollywood. But no they placed it right next to the Tower of Terror which happens to fit perfectly in the land. I mean you walk down this beautiful street feeling immersed in the world of Hollywood. The Tower of Terror sets the mood by being that old looking building (Thank God it doesn't look like the one at DCA or Paris). Then you turn the corner expecting more Hollywood charm but nope.......now let the fire rain from angry DIS members.

Edit: Did I say older...I meant younger....my bad

You're absolutely right! I'd never thought about that. It's not surprising, though. DHS is just an all-around mess. I still love it though.;)

I love all the classic attractions at Magic Kingdom. I have found memories of them from my childhood trips to Disney World with my grandparents. :) My children however, don't have that same sentimental attachment to them as I do. They don't like Hall of Presidents or It's a Small World, but they know how I feel about both, so they humor me. :thumbsup2

I think Stitch would be my least favorite of all Magic Kingdom attractions. I wouldn't be sad to see it leave.

"It's a Small World". That ride was out-dated and obnoxious the first time I rode it in 1983.
This is one of my faves. Always has been, and I think always will be.

I feel like they keep HOP more for nostalgia than for its big number of visitors. When I'm there it's always empty. Maybe just my experience though :confused3

I personally feel like Carousel of Progress, Ellen's ride and Backlot tour occupy way too much space that could be used for something else.

HOP may be empty because most Americans hate/have no sense of history. I remember when I was young seeing this and thinking that Lincoln was a real person just playing him.
Same with COP. People these days don't want to sit through a "history lesson". They go to a park to ride rides. The more thrills and the faster, the better, it seems. Everyone is always in such a rush. They don't want to experience anything they might perceive as "slow" or takes too long. It's rush, rush, rush to the next attraction.

The ride will never go just because, it was one Walt's ideas. Its one of the oldest rides there. If there one negative thing about that ride is the song is impossible to get out of your head.

I happen to love the song...

::yes::

I also love the Tiki Room and the JC. While I have never been a fan of the Speedway, I think it's an iconic part of the park. Any of the classic attractions would be a real loss to Disney.

Actually based on that reasoning Star Tours probably shouldn't be there either. But like you I love the disorganized mess that is DHS. ;)

I agree with you!!!! I personally hate stitch and think t was a cheap way of adding a new and look and stitch ride. So it can go. Bye.

The really great thing about Disney that there really is something for everyone. It is really neat to see our focus change with each trip as my kids get older. HS used to be the park I wouldn't be upset if we skipped. Now it pushes Epcot for our second favorite. There is nothing new there really, but my oldest has grown into it. The MK is still the best just because there is so much to do and SEE. To really get the full effect of the park you have to forget FP and FP+, forget dining reservations, and just walk around and look around you. As lame as people say it has gotten we still cannot do all we want to in a 6 or 7 day trip.

And by the way, It's a Small World IS dated, but all classics become dated. That's why they are classics. My family knows that nobody rides anything or does anything else until we ride it together as a family. That ride personifies Disney to me and we are not officially at Disney until we pay homage by riding. If this makes me lame or dated, then so be it.

Wow. My preferences really are very different than a lot of people who have posted on this thread.

I love HOP. I make it a point to go at least once every trip but then again I majored in history and love it so..... Interestingly I have never been to the American Adventure show. If I have it had to have been when I was 5 or so and I don't remember it. That is going on my must do list for our next visit.

I also love COP, ISASM, and Swiss Family Robinson Tree House. I have never been a fan of the Speedway or Stitch.

As far as EPCOT goes, that is my favorite park. I agree, it could use some TLC but I still love it. I have never been on TT or Mission Space but they are on my should do list for next time. I don't know why I keep missing it. I always found Spaceship Earth enjoyable and it was DD8's favorite ride in Epcot when we went last time. Soaring and Living with the Land are both musts for me. I can spend hours in the Seas looking at all the displays and whatnot. I really adore Maelstrom. Even the little video after it. We went on Maelstrom last spring and I wanted to stay for the video but got outvoted. I used to really like the Mexico ride but after the refurb I just find it obnoxious and annoying. I hope they change it back. I do enjoy the Canada film though. I even enjoy Ellen's Energy Adventure.

I do detest the Imagination Pavilion and really miss the Wonders of Life. The ride with Dreamfinder was much better and I thought Captain EO was obnoxious and ridiculous the first time I saw it in the early 90's. I adore Honey I Shrunk the Audience but I was at the prime target age group when Honey I Shrunk the Kids came out and I can see how some would find it dated and ridiculous now. I still wish they would bring it back though.

AK is the park I know the least about. We only had time for a 1/2 day there and didn't experience as much of it as I wanted to. Hopefully our next trip will allow more time to experience more.

DHS is by far my least favorite park. It has always been a half day park for us and frankly, I would not be at all sad if we didn't go there at all next time. I do enjoy TGMR and it's a must do whenever I am dragged to the Studios. I just really don't get the appeal. There are only a handful of rides and the rest is all shows. Shows that I really have no interest in. Although, I have never seen Fantasmic because it is a half day park for us and we would go in the morning then leave at lunch time and never come back for Fantasmic. That is on my must do list next time.
