With It's a Small World, there was a plain white tarp up originally and then it was changed to printed. So perhaps that will happen with the castle as well.

I'm hoping.

Ok, in all seriousness...Did the people at Disney stay awake at night thinking about what the UGLIEST tarp would be to cover the castle? So then if they put up a painted one everyone is thrilled to have the ugly one gone, instead of complaining about it being covered in the first place? I mean come on, that thing can not get any more hideous!

We have friends going for two park days Sunday/Monday... Their kid's first visit... I wish she had talked to me before spur of the moment buying her plane tickets a couple months ago... I could have at least warned her about the refurbs... Sad that the kiddos will see the castle covered. But I guess they have to refurb it sometime.

Still holding out hope that they cover the castle with something more attractive & also that it gets unvailed (uncovered) March 2nd as previously info'd to me. We would get to see it on our last day on our trip if all goes well.

So I was paging through my Costco Connection magazine and I noticed an ad for Disneyland promoting their 60th anniversary and it showed a picture of the castle draped in diamond garlands, with clear diamond/crystal turrets and blue mirrored roof tiles- best part- it looked like the castle took on a purple hue, which I think would be super beautiful!! How close do you think the picture will come to the real thing? I noticed also that the much debated decorative trim is back in the picture, perhaps repainted silver instead of gold? Can't wait to see it revealed, but I'll have a chance to see it tarped on our upcoming February trip!! Oh well!

The TinkerBell 1/2 Marathon runs through the castle. This year it takes place on Mother's Day which is May 10th. The 5K and 10K may also, but, I've not run those so I am not sure of the route. RunDisney would have to change the course for at least the 1/2 Marathon if the tarp was still around the castle and we couldn't run through it. That would be a lot of trouble. Just thinking "out loud" here and making a guess that the castle tarps could be down before the TinkerBell 1/2 Marathon Weekend. At least I will be crossing my fingers.

Anyone there right now have anything to update on the castle tarp? Is it fully covered now? Does it look like it's going to get a castle picture tarp?

When I phoned guest relations a while ago to find out what was happening, when everything was just a rumor still, I was told that the castle was getting a castle picture tarp. Well that brown one is hideous and certainly doesn't look like a castle. So I am wondering if they CM was wrong, or the plans changed, OR hopefully a nicer tarp is being put on right now in time for our trip

this is what the castle looks like today. I highly doubt the tarp will ever include a photo of the castle. The reason I say that is because even for the 50th, it was just a blue tarp

Well I'm glad they are decking it out I will be there for dapper day and I'm not even disappointed. I'm hoping I'll be able to come back soon and see it all done!
