It's almost as bad as all the parents who molest and attempt to kill their kids by smoking around them. Even one child with a parent who smokes is far too many!

Can't quite believe I'm understanding this correctly - are you equating parents who sexually abuse their kids with parents who smoke?? And/or that a kid who is exposed to 2nd hand smoke is worse off than one who gets shot?

It is in Ontario as well. Not sure about the other provinces, but I think that most of similar laws. Like you, I have no idea how well policed it is (or if anyone has actually been charged under the law).

Manitoba is the same..no smoking in cars with kids. I don't look for that but I always keep an eye out for texters.

It's illegal here apparently to smoke in cars with children as passengers, but I'm not sure how well it's policed.

And this is ONE reason why I have a hard time with all these "laws" telling us how to live. No one enforces them! Or it's cherry picked. So why bother? Let us be free citizens and if we make bad choices, well, suffer the consequences!

I would argue that a smoking parent definitely has hostile intent and is most assuredly annoying. Science has shown that second hand smoke kills and to smoke around a defenseless kid is definitely a form of molestation.

A little smoke to your lungs day after day and you have a life time of increased stroke risk, lung cancer, coronary heart disease, reproductive issues, SIDS, lower respiratory illness, impaired lung function, middle ear disease.

The parents are the primary source of protection for a child. Smoking parents are slowly killing their kids and saddling them with lifelong health issues.

A responsible gun owning parent is not putting lead into the brain or heart of their child.

Keep in mind I don't care if people smoke.

It is when they slowly kill their kids with smoke like my mom did to me that I have a problem. People should be allowed to smoke, shoot up, vape, whatever it takes to supply the drug of their addiction. My drug addiction is caffeine, I drink it.
