DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Its better than its sounds. You should give it a try. We raised and processed our own beef growing up; and we use everything but the mooo.
Amen. I am still trying to find a part of the pig that my boy won't eat.

An interesting start of the weekend. Major traffic jam from LaGuardia and the cabbie decided to regale me with his political views. After a bit, I told him enough and put in the ear buds. You may have heard about a situation that occurred in Times Square today. I was there 30-45 minutes before it happened. They speculate the a$$ was high and drunk. The roads around it and the TKTS booth are still roped off. So theater tonight is off, which considering the people killed and injured, is a VERY minor thing.

Called an audible and and walked around looking for old haunts. Stopped in at the Playwrights Celtic Pub, a pretty decent bar I used to go to. Tonight I am going to check out Junior's BBQ (never been) which is supposed to be good. Could be a tourist trap. Then an old favorite, Joe Allen's. When the Pirate Princess and I went to the theater, there was many a time we would go to JA's to have a pre-show cocktail. The bartenders were pretty cool and let her sit at the bar for her Shirley Temple. Reminds me of good times.

Oh and did I mention they had record temps today?

Still had a very good day today and am looking forward to tomorrow. Ground Zero and dinner with a good friend of mine. I'll try to post pictures at some point.

It's a sad thing that happened in Times Square. So senseless. I'm sure you'll enjoy your time there even if the theater doesn't work out. I can't stand talkative cabbies, especially ones with political views.

Evening All,

Been a hectic week up here . Started off on Monday taking a short 90 minute drive after work so DW could pick up her new vehicle. Got to the dealership, went through everything and then the contract wouldn't print. They offered to let us take it and they would bring the paperwork to us the next day but DW didn't want to take it without everything being signed so back home we went. Tuesday we met the delivery guy in town and she took delivery of the Tuscon.

Last night I took DS to his basketball practice in a neighbouring village and about 50 minutes in he rolls his ankle. He hobbled over to where I was dong some work and I had him tighten his sneaker and the coach brought in some ice. Thought all was good until we started to leave about an hour later, he took off his shoe and we started out only to have the ankle swell like crazy and he couldn't put any wait on it. He immediately flashed back to two summers ago when a freak kick in the hand during a soccer match put him out of action for most of the summer. Off to the ER we went and they diagnosed it as a bad sprain, no sports for 2 weeks and crutches for 2 or 3 days. Today it looks like a big, purple grapefruit.

One more day to go and we are into a long weekend.

Hope you have a great time. Saw some pictures of Times Square a little while ago and it looked like people were going about their business with some of the areas blocked off.

Saw it on FB. Looks nasty, but at least it's not a fracture. Hope he's doing better.

Sounds like you made the best out of a tough situation. Such a senseless act.

I'm glad you're getting some good time in with your daughter, though.

Yikes. That photo looked pretty nasty. Here's hoping it will look worse than it is.

Ok boys. That's it. Work time over. Everyone out. Last one at the (insert bar name as specified by Mike) has to take Snow White home. And let me tell ya, if she invites you back for a "7 up", she ain't talkin 'bout no soft drink.

Top O the Mornin Dads! 2 weeks from wedding and 39 days from cruise. Had to go to the County Clerks office this morning as I got a jury summons the other day and had to change date as I was assigned July 5 and we will be in the south Caribbean then. Have a great one and see you all at Dawa Bar in AK!

Sorry to hear about DS ankle - sounds like a couple of weeks chillin out should take care of it though.

Enjoy the weekend mate, all the best to Declan
I'll try to post pictures at some point.
That'll be good cj, hope today was an improvement to the Times Sq tragedy and nut job Taxi drivers.

Hope everyone has a good weekend, I'm one curry and 3 Anchor Steams to the good.

Happy Friday. I'm late to the party and am sure Dan called it with one of his clever twists. Enjoyed a relaxing day at the work. Played tennis with younger dd and her friend. Now, time for beer and pizza. Have a great day.

If anyone remembers a couple months back the bottom element in my stove shattered. The replacement works, but it's way hotter than the old one. DW complains about burned cookies all the time. She's already moved the rack up and turned the heat down 50 deg from the recipe. So I'm not sure but I might just get a new stove. Adult stuff sucks.

After all your hard work. Turning it down seems like a great solution. Enjoy your new stove. :lmao:

.......and therefore obviously been raised by Mary Poppins.
.

I figured all you Brits were. We even had a couple tv shows about nannys going to people's houses. They were British as well, or at least had the accent.

Hey I was on recycling duty and took all the beer cans to the recycle center. We are well on the way to moving our clubhouse to Golden Oaks.

Great news. We only need about what, 100 trillion more cans? :lmao:

Sorry to hear your trip was marked with more stupidity. Sounds like you've been able to salvage it. Have a great remainder of the trip.

Congrats to DW on the new car. Saw that picture on FB. Hope he recovers quickly.

Wedding, cruise, Dawa Bar. Sounds like a lot of fun over the next month.

About that. I figure a couple superbowl parties, a national championship game, 2 Stanley Cup finals, and the women's world curling championship should get us there.
I'll throw in a couple of FA cup finals and there's a football world cup next year, so this should let us upgrade to the infinity pool and hot tub.
