My friends and I treat our children as if they were our own, and I bet you and your friends are the same way.

I called this morning to cancel 2 tours - only 1.5 hours on hold - but got some useful information about the cancellation/change process.
All cancellations/changes require the CM to fill out a form to get the fees waived. That form is sent over to a team which has to process the fee-removal manually. They are backed up ( no surprise) and it will take them several days to get it all processed. Our packages and reservations will still show up on MyDisney until they get them processed, likely several days from now. Once they do get them manually processed, money will be refunded to the credit card on which it was charged. The cancellation will have the same transaction ID as the confirmation code of the original transaction. So, if my tour had transaction code DIS123, the cancellation and refund will have the same code of DIS123. That will help you if you need to follow up.
Good luck to everyone!
Yes this!!! I have family in Florida and they said do NOT come down if you dont have to be here. Its a nightmare.I have family in the path of this storm and they are doing everything they possibly can to get out.
Yes!Everyone who posts on this board is crazy Disney people, I think we all understand how devastating it is to cancel or postpone a trip. People have every right to feel sad and vent.
But FYI, if tourists had been around competing for resources while my family was digging out of 3 feet of flood water in our houses during Sandy, I would have given them the Jersey middle finger salute. If that makes me a bad person, so be it.
Not saying that Orlando is going to get floods or damage, we don't know what will happen. Reason why it's best to stay away if possible.
Based on my experiences with MDE over the years, I would not be at all surprised if there is a delay in having the changes appear -- even in addition to what AngieTN posted above. That happens under normal circumstances with MDE, let alone with all of these changes being made in the system right now.So, not to beat a dead horse, (and no offense meant to horse lovers), if I cancelled over the phone last night I can be confident that it is done even though I don't see it yet on MDE? I don't mind calling later to check, but hate to take up time from other people who really need to get through to actually make changes.
That's my frustration. It's still showing as a check-in even though I cancelled via phone yesterday. I do not understand why for everything else (car, air) I receive an email confirmation except for cancelling the WDW room. I kind of want to move on from this trip. So, not to beat a dead horse, (and no offense meant to horse lovers), if I cancelled over the phone last night I can be confident that it is done even though I don't see it yet on MDE? My travel agent cancelled mine Wednesday and it still doesnt show cancelled. She said they are soooo backed up with cancellations that they are delayed. I wouldnt worry just yet.So, not to beat a dead horse, (and no offense meant to horse lovers), if I cancelled over the phone last night I can be confident that it is done even though I don't see it yet on MDE? Cat. 5 is 157+ mph winds. This storm is not that far away from having been a Cat. 5. Does it really matter if it slams into southern Florida as a Cat.4 at 150 mph or as a Cat.5 at 158 mph?No one is suggesting otherwise. Naturally. But having it a 4 and then gaining a bit is still better than having it a 5 and gaining a bit. Silver linings.
You are missing my point.Cat. 5 is 157+ mph winds. This storm is not that far away from having been a Cat. 5. Does it really matter if it slams into southern Florida as a Cat.4 at 150 mph or as a Cat.5 at 158 mph?
Sounds like things are still fairly good in Orlando proper. That's good.Just an FYI on road conditions from last night.
My son works at Universal Orlando, there was no traffic coming back home, he takes Universal Blvd. to John Young Pkw and then the 417 and the gas stations he passes were operating as normal, no line and no gas outages.
(I'm not saying there's no traffic anywhere just locally around this area of Orlando)
Also Universal provided Team Members with full packages of 24 20oz bottles of water for $5

Yes and Yes.I pray the best for everyone! I personally don't believe this will be the same as Matthew. That was a dusting in comparison. I do believe that in my heart that Orlando could fair better than most of the rest of Florida!
I think the point is that for purposes of this thread some people are feeling bad and second guessing cancelling because the storm is "weakening." It is still a very large, powerful and dangerous storm and no one should take the sign that it's dropped to about 150mph top wind speed as a sign that they should, in fact, try to come to Orlando during this storm because now it is "just a cat 4". Even a cat 3 storm can do TREMENDOUS damage when it makes landfall and cat 1-2 can cause quite a bit of disruption as well. Weakening is a relative term, it is still a very very large, fast moving and strong storm and no one should stop being vigilant because it's "only" a cat 4.You are missing my point.
