OFFICIAL CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY SEASON & NEW YEAR'S 2017 THREAD

That's sad.

I still don't get why they aren't at least running the Christmas parade at night. Seems like a bad idea not to have something to occupy the crowds at night.
They aren't running the Christmas parade?

Still see Monday thru Thursday December 18th thru 22nd have shorter hours than previous weeks. First was just thinking it might just be Monday and Tuesday- but no, all week. I am beginning to think it is because most APs are blocked then.- which may mean lower crowds and probably less nighttime crowds as the AP cannot come after work as in prior weeks. Kind of funny though- as APs are supposed to be blocked during busier times and now they are reducing park hours when blocked. They are probably thinking it will be like summer and crowds now less when APs blocked. Seems more room availability and cheaper rooms that week, too. I think the first week of December is going to be one of the busiest weeks of the holiday season- at least before Christmas. So all you folks thinking the first week of December is good- think you better be prepared for big crowds. I personally know quite a few people heading down that week from Northen Cal as they think it will be quiet- think they are going to be in for a big surprise. Maybe Disney will rethink blockout dates in the future. But in any case, whenever you go- just gotta go with the flow!
Can I ask where you're getting hours for that week? I can't see anything past 12/3? Thx!

I am not actually seeing the hours, I am basing it on the closure of restaurants- such as Blue Bayou. For example, some days the Blue Bayou closes at 10pm- so would guess it is safe to assume Disneyland is open later than the days that the Blue Bayou is closing at 8 pm.

They have only posted hours through 12/3. But even Thanksgiving weekend only has the Christmas parade running at 1 and 3:30.

Oh, okay thx. Disneyland is kinda new to us, so not having hours out less than 2 months out seems so foreign to us.

Yes. It will be every night from Dec 22-31 if I understood her correctly.

I was wondering about this. I have been watching the park hours and noticed that Fantasmic isn't running during the week in December. We are planning on doing the Fantasmic Dining package at BB on Christmas Day and was getting worried that since Christmas is on a Monday, that would not be happening. Glad to see that you got some clarification on that.

Hi all. I will be there with my Two kiddos and MIL on 12/11 and 12/12 Hoping to see fireworks in DL one night and WOC in DCA the other night...I’m wondering when the snowfall happens—during the parade or fireworks in DL? Also, does the snow fall only on main street or other parts of the park as well (i.e.close to the castle). Trying to figure out where we should try to sit so kiddos can be surprised by the snow :)

Its towards the end of the fireworks. The best place to get to experience it is in main street. If you ask a CM they will be able to tell you the best places to stand in main street.

:tigger:We finally decided on going to DL (instead of Las Vega):dumbo: I can't wait because it will still be Christmas there. And no kids!
We are going Jan 2-5. I decided to ditch the Disneyland hotel because of the price and we are going to be at the Holiday Inn on Walnut so we can have a short walk home after Trader Sam's and a few others :drinking:.
Last time the two of us went, my friend was pregnant. This time we are looking forward to trying some new places for dinner and a drink or two.

Does anyone know what time dining opens for phone reservations? We want to eat at the Blue Bayou and try a couple of new places.

thanks!

Sounds like fun. Dining phone lines open at 7am PST.

We will be visiting Jan 3rd to 6th. If I am reading correctly, this is the last few days of the holiday season? I had booked in the hopes that we had missed all the holiday stuff and it would be really quiet. However, if this is the last of the holidays will it be crazy busy with everyone trying to get visits in before the decorations come down? I am taking my 6 year old who has some mild special needs and I'm not sure how he will cope with huge numbers of people and exceptionally long waits....

Also, how/when can we find out what will be going on at that time? There doesn't seem to be anything on the website just yet...
