So Is there a way to use ur points to book a campsite at Disney? Also does anyone know if they ever offer a discount on the campsite? Thanks

If I remember right, @SouthFayetteFan had contacted someone at the UR site who said anything we could book through Disney could be booked through the portal. I think I also saw a contact number and extension.

My huge scare this morning: I received an email from Singapore Airlines telling me my flight was changed :scared1: The email stated I was now in a First Standard from JHK-SIN and Business standard from SIN-HKG. I called up KrisFlyer to explain this was so not acceptable because I'm thinking my aspirational suites flight is not happening. It was explained to me that First Standard is the suites (whew) but the SIN-HKG flight changed planes. Now after spending 500,000 KF miles (300,000 SPG, 25,000 TYP and 100,000 MR give or take) for this flight I was not about to slum it in business from SIN-HKG. So I asked if there was any other way to get me on a different flight in an A380 with suite availability. Naturally, I am hoping to get lucky and go from the old suites class ...

to the new redesigned A380 suites class and get to experience both!

No such luck. Anyhow, the folks at KrisFlyer are super helpful and nice and were able to get me on another flight an hour later and in the same double bed seats. Silver lining - more lounge time. No sooner did I hang up the phone I received the email with my new confirmation. Talk about a scare though when I read that email. I thought I was going to cry!

Sorta wish I had never seen these pictures - lol. Holy cow!! I imagine its difficult to go back to coach after something like this. I want to visit South Africa. Will have to research how to get one of these.

so...this card seems like a no brainer to get! right? I like cashback.... if I want the IT and the SPG biz, which should I go for first? I'd like to do them both quickly

We have enjoyed DH's Discover. The only reason I'm not jumping on getting my own is cause I don't want to take up a 5/24 slot. Chase rules my world!

Wowww:worship::thumbsup2

I will soon be making a purchase of approx $4000. I was going to use my Discover IT thinking 1% cash back now and 1% on my one year anniversary with the card. This would equate to approx $80.

However, now I am thinking Chase Sapphire would give a better value with UR points transferred to SW RR or travel through the UR portal. 1 point per dollar would give me approx 4,000 UR points which would be worth more than $80 depending on how I redeem the points.

Is my thinking correct - use the Sapphire?

Can you apply for a new card? That would easy cover minimum spend on a lot of cards. CIP??

It really depends on how you will use the points. I value UR at 1.5% to be conservative (I use their travel portal a lot vs transferring out to hotels/airlines). So for me, I would value 4,000 UR at $60. If you can get > 2% value out of your UR points, then that would make more sense obviously. If its close for me, I always take the cash back simply because cash is immediate as opposed to UR's that I might not use for a while.

Well, here's one thing.... keep looking for discounts on that cruise! we took a 'small' AK cruise last spring...it was 7 nights, Seattle R/T and a screamin' deal! We are 4 adults, one cabin, ocean view, BOGO deal- used 2 CSR card openings to reduce the cost by $900 after that, plus I think we got $50 onboard credit for booking where we did....total cost for an AMAZING week was like $900 before all taxes incl. for 4 people(those taxes always getcha lol) anyway my point is look to combine a discount price with cc options. (also used a free hotel night in port the night before, and airline travel points to fly into port for free) I've never cruised before, and I hadn't realized how good the deals can be for an all inclusive great vacation!
What cruise company? I'm waiting for DCL to announce 2019 AK cruises to see if we can afford. If not, I've been looking elsewhere.

hmmmm...didn't look at it that way. Thanks. Now I think I might use the Discover card.....

I see United has that, but for domestic united end up costing more for main compare to American. Their taxes make it more somehow or I am missing the times to check.
From Chicago, United, American and Southwest are all viable options. Each may have better options depending on destination. I have AA & SW cards. Have easily used miles to book Orlando (SW) Anaheim (AA) and Arizona (AA)

Can you get a new Discover It for double cashback? Or get your purchase at one of the 5% categories? Or use a Shop Discover deal? Max that bonus! Lol

I have the Discover IT - that is what I was planning to use. Nope to the 5% categories - it is from a specific furniture store not on Discover deals. I do want to max the bonus and I think out of all my cards Discover will give me the biggest bonus - 1% now and 1% in about a year. I also have the Amex Everyday card, but that wouldn't give me the 2% that Discover would. It would give me 1.2% with the 20 purchase rule they have.

DH says to go for the UR points (travel). I say Discover IT cash back - get discounted gift card with the points - receive more than 2%. And we have a lot of UR points right now that I don't plan to use anytime soon.

Bummer on the categories. So you're already getting 2%. Missed that. I just got a second Discover to use for cashback this year. Plan on using cash towards 2019 cruise.

I saw on Reddit that people are setting up a 529 for themselves deposit GOC gift cards and then getting a withdrawal. Contributions don’t have the 10% penalty only gains. Does anyone do this here? I have no clue what type of 529 I should set up if I don’t want a high risk investments and I want a low expense ratio. My parents have a 529 set up for me, but the fund has a few dollars since I’m in my last semester of grad school. Maybe I can use that?
