the picky kid and his foodie mom (with tiny tummy) ride again... NEW! 3/21 CP PPO, CHH & WCC

I think you may be my spirit animal :rotfl:

Loving your reviews! That is a really great picture of the two of you by the Beauty & the Beast topiaries :)
:rotfl2: I keep saying I'm not a dessert person but I found so many desserts to love this time. But I still really only eat a few bites and after that I've had enough. But I will eat myself sick on any chips with some kind of cheesy powder!

Alright well I am still attempting to amuse myself at home and hoping we keep power (have lost it twice but came back twice, everyone send me good juju!)

But before I move on to day 3, I forgot to share this little jewel. So we were having a great time taking pictures with the topiaries so of course when I saw a figment one, I wanted a photo with him! Who wouldn't!

I nearly died when I saw the photopass photo, as the exposure on it made figment look like a demon from hell rising up to eat us and I look like I peed my pants.

28059346_10155060126266286_4428123660490062013_n.jpg

This may be my favorite photopass shot ever, actually. We did a retake with different lighting later and it wasn't much better, I think that figment topiary is just majorly creepy!

Day 3: MK Day, Room service breakfast!

So far, we had two amazing days... AK and Epcot. Today we were due for a full day at the MK and since it was the Saturday ending President's week and also the princess half marathon, I was prepared for crowds with many ADRs and breaks from the crowds. The park was set to open at 8am and we planned to rope drop, which meant I got to wake the picky kid's butt up early. I swear this was almost the most fun on vacation, as the kid is generally an early riser and never lets me sleep in. Turnabout is fair play and now the kid got to see what it's like to be woken up! He was dragging pretty badly all morning though and I think the 4:30 wake up for travel day and then 7:15am to 10pm (including travel) Epcot day were cumulatively taking a toll on him. But too bad, mama lost 110 lbs and had nothing but plans and energy!

Anyway I knew we had an early morning and he'd be slow moving so I decided to do Room Service breakfast and order it the night before. We wanted to leave by 7:15 at the latest for rope drop so I ordered it for 6:30am the night before. She told me they could not guarantee a time delivery and it would come anywhere between 6:30 and 7am but she'd leave a big note on it.

Anyone want to guess when it came? yup, pretty close to 7am.

Anyway the kid ordered a VEB (very expensive bagel). $5.50 for a bagel and cream cheese and the thing came untoasted!

20180224_065041 (1).jpg

Luckily, we were in a Poly Studio so I popped that thing in our toaster and he ate I think half of it... he has a pretty good appetite but generally half of a big bagel is about all he will eat, unless it is a NY bagel then he can eat 2 whole ones, lol. PIctured also is the chocolate milk that came with the kid's meal that I ordered.

I ordered a kid's mickey check meal Ham and Vegetable Scramble, which came as below (on the allears menu it is listed as coming with fruit cup, which I would have preferred)

20180224_065158.jpg

Right about here is where the oxford comma would come in handy, because this was NOT a "Ham and Vegetable Scramble" but rather "Ham, and Vegetable Scramble." Seriously, they are like two different things!

Room service breakfast at the Poly continues to be lackluster as it was on our last trip, but the name of the game here was getting fed easily and conveniently before a very early start to our MK day. This was not as bad as it could be... but it lacked any salt at all (though they sent packets with the tray... I guess so much for the little salt and pepper shakers) and eggs definitely need a little salt. The veggies were pretty decent, it was really just broccoli rabe (stems and leaves) and tomato, but this would have been way better with cheese, onion and the ham diced into it. I don't really like ham and would never order a hunk of it on the side like that and only didn't try to sub it because I thought it came IN the scramble, but I would have preferred sausage. I didn't even eat this but it looked kind of pathetic and dried out. I bet it was salty though.

I made a healthy choice to put protein in my belly to start my day but this was pretty soso. I can't find the receipt but I think it was around $20 all in and it was worth it for the convenience and to be able to eat while getting ready but nothing more. I had much better room service breakfast at Bay Lake Tower in 2014, and thanks to the magic of google photos you can see it (and how stinkin' cute my kid was 4 years ago)

Also it kind of annoyed me that I made the effort to call for tray pickup and we didn't put everything back on the tray, they basically took the dishes and left the trash (used coasters and opened salt packet and the saran wrap from the bagel) sitting on the table. Really, Disney? at a Deluxe? You actually left the trash of a $5 breakfast that cost $20 behind? We LOVE the Poly but their room service breakfast leaves a lot to be desired.

20140914_081319.jpg

I don't know, maybe the key is things like pancakes and waffles and sausage make much better room service breakfast items but this was awesome (from the wave, the sweet potato pancakes and chicken sausage, and perfectly crispy mickey waffles and bacon) and our last two Poly room service breakfasts were definitely underseasoned and just "edible" as the nicest thing I could say. Also, I bet a mimosa helps too.

But anyway, our day definitely went up from there as we went over to the MK for the 8am rope drop!

Day 3: MK Rope Drop & Snack

So we did the 8am RD thing and it went pretty well. Kiddo was dragging butt a bit and kind of grumpy but he was willing to stop for a few shots on main street. I loved this one that the guy took JUST as the welcome show fireworks were going off! Great timing!

28168818_10155061338351286_802674880214592716_n.jpg

Also I loved this tinkerbell magic shot we got, cracks me up. I might frame this.

28059187_10155062034596286_7972345548736216342_n.jpg

Anyway my RD plan was to hit frontierland first, followed by adventureland. This turned out to work out REALLY well, as we went on Splash Mountain first and we had an empty boat. Also, when we were supposed to get off no one was waiting so we asked if we could stay on and we did! The overhead for getting on and off Splash is pretty high so this was awesome. Pretty much by 20 seconds into the first ride the kid started to cheer up a bit and I grabbed a selfie on our second ride though, and now I will subject you to it.

20180224_082916.jpg

I totally messed up our ride pics by raising my hands and casting a shadow over both of our faces with both of my arms, though. Oh well.

We then rode BTMRR a couple of times too with no wait:

20180224_094004.jpg

and then over to adventureland, where we rode pirates and said goodbye to the classic redhead scene (it was 2 days before they closed it for renovation).

20180224_094424.jpg

After that the kid announced he was hungry. Now we had an 11am adr for breakfast at LTT but I was in vacation mode where most things are a "yes" and I asked him what he had in mind. He's been watching DFB video reviews where they talk about the dole whip a lot so he was dying to try one. I thought Aloha Isle was one of the places where they did mobile ordering, and they did. Totally unnecessary at this point in time but I had a new toy and wanted to use it.

Now no one hate me, but I am not a fan of the dole whip. I think it tastes kind of chemically to me. And the kid is not a huge fan of citrus in general so I pretty much gave it a 0% chance he was gonna like it. That said, far be it from me to deny my kid ever trying a dole whip. But I DID hedge my bet on a dole whip SWIRL, swirled with vanilla soft serve and we parked near the tiki room to enjoy it. Here he is, super excited to see what the fuss is all about!

20180224_095533.jpg

and in case you are just here for the actual food, here's a better shot of the swirl by itself:

20180224_095436.jpg

I don't think they were expecting a mobile order so early in the morning because I said I was there on the app (to signal them to make the order) while walking over and by the time I got there the guy was super apologetic about it taking so long because he didn't notice it. It was no biggie at all. Also when he handed it to me, it is REALLY hard to see the swirl in bright light so I wasn't sure it was the right thing but it was.

Anyway, I tried a bit of the dole whip part by itself and still meh. But with the swirl? OMG. It was this cool, creamy, sweet and sour pineapple creamsicle. YUM. I know I am not the only non dole whip fan who wants to love it... if you're like me, give it a try with the swirl. It will change your outlook. I seriously wanted another one later but unfortunately the kid was not nearly as enamored and the thing is huge and I didn't want to buy it and pitch 3/4 of it. We finished the whole big top swirl and pitched the bottom part and he ate some of it but as predicted it was not his favorite. But yay to him for trying something new and I'd definitely get the swirl again and maybe just get him vanilla or a mickey bar or something, I don't know, but this is on my list of things to have again when I am no longer in the "don't want to squander the golden weight loss phase" of the surgery and just in maintenance and can let half of that thing slide right down without guilt.

Next up: LTT Lunch

Like you, I’m not much of a dessert person. Even though I like some sweets, most treats are too large and too sweet for me to have more than a bite or two. So that macaron ice cream sandwich is a game changer!!! That looks so awesome, it’s the perfect size, and I usually find macaron to be just the right amount of sweet. You just added something to my must eat list. I would like to try something fruity though, like strawberry or lemon. Must look at menus after writing this post...

Your Le Cellier experience has also inspired me to be open to eating there again. We haven’t dined there since the early 2000s and it has been off my radar since it got so popular, crowded, and loud, but the early dinner worked out so well for you. And the kid’s soup as a pretzel bread dipper— GENIUS! I will totally do that too.

Yup, you are right in that most sweet things are just way too much (even before the surgery). I have discovered that the first bite is always the best, the second is pretty good and then after that I'm just eating it because it's there and not enjoying it much. I don't really like cakes, cookies, cupcakes but I do love custards, creme brulee, ice cream, lava type cakes and souffles, macarons. Basically anything fancy and usually with a more gooey than dry texture, hehe. I don't like things that are overly sweet. I don't like "mediocre" baked goods, if I have them I want them to be warm and fresh. I'm basically just a real fusspot about it and on my last trip in 2016 I think the only dessert I actually enjoyed was the 'Ohana bread pudding. I enjoyed a whole lot more sweets on this trip but I still limited myself to about 2 bites (of anything but ice cream). The macaron ice cream sandwich hits all of my high points for dessert which are 1) chocolate 2) ice cream 3) not too sweet. If I could only have ONE sweet treat the whole trip, that's what I'd pick.

I like to go at off times. It is just so much less chaotic, smaller wait, the wait staff and kitchen is not backed up. I find when on vacation my sense of time goes out the window anyway so I will almost always book a restaurant at opening if I can or at an odd time if I can't (like early dinner vs. 6pm when everyone is there... so sort of when they first turn over to dinner service, though there is no difference in most restaurants now). Less waiting and quicker service and a bunch of empty tables is just much better with the kiddo and I don't care all that much about when I eat, I can plan the rest around it.

Loving your reviews! I’m also “meh” on sweets and a fan of the Oxford comma. Congratulations on your weight loss!! It looks like an amazing trip for you and your son!!

I'm definitely a salty crunchy type snack person than sweet, but for some reason, the looks of that sticky bun bake at Garden Grill just calls out to me, lol! I discovered the macaron ice cream sandwich in France a few years ago, and I've never looked back. It is one of my all time fav WDW snacks, if not my favorite, which is weird, because like I said, I'm more of a salty person, lol. The fact that it is gluten free makes it even better! We haven't eaten at LeCellier in quite some time, and I really want to go back, but every time I read someone's review I change my mind. As I started reading yours I was like, yes, I'm going back. Then by the time I got to the end I was like nevermind. I'm not a big Dole Whip fan either. I can take it or leave it. The swirl looks like it might be a better choice. Do you have your dates for next year during the Festival of the Arts? We're going January 17th-25th, to celebrate my grandsons' birthdays. They'll be 6 and 13 during the trip.

Thanks. It feels so good to be able to do what I want without everything being so hard. We got about a foot of very wet, heavy snow and I just shoveled for 45 minutes without worrying about having a heart attack! It was an amazing trip :)

There has got to be a GF cinnamon bun somewhere on property. There is a local bakery that does all kinds of "whatever" free stuff, they do vegan, gf etcetc. They make these amazing gluten free brownies and the first time I had one I was like "WOW BROWNIES DO NOT NEED GLUTEN!" That said, I don't really like brownies. But I love theirs, lol. So maybe I just prefer the texture of gluten free fudgier baked goods. it is less of a "cakey" texture that way.

We are looking at going... I think the same time? does that include MLK weekend? The thursday before MLK to the following Saturday.

edited to add, yup... looked at the calendar. Same time!

Lisa, I feel like you and I are food soul mates :lovestruc I made a lot of ADRs my first trip based off your last DR and I’m pretty sure I’m gonna do it again! Plus, your pics with the kid? STINKIN CUTE! Every single one! I snorted so hard at figment as a demon :rotfl2:

I nearly died when I saw the photopass photo, as the exposure on it made figment look like a demon from hell rising up to eat us and I look like I peed my pants.

Untoasted! :crazy2: I hate when you order a bagel somewhere and it's untoasted. I ordered room service at one of the Universal resorts last year, and had some VEMS (Very expensive mozzarella sticks). It was also a really poor experience with room service.

Next up: LTT Lunch

Ooo I can't wait! So far we're planning to eat there in May.

This thing looks delicious! I've eyed it up a few times, but I'm never hungry enough to order one....

Yum! That's a really great sized portion for the price too!

I don't really care for pastries, but that cinnamon bun thing looks amazing.

The kiddo of course had his 3 basic food groups:

20180223_082210-jpg.307696

I like the way your kid thinks. Those are three of my important food groups too!

Cute picture! One day I will make it to Flower and Garden Festival...

I also love your shirt!

Here is the bread basket, with a pretzel bread stick, some kind of multigrain thing, and some kind of white roll. He couldn't wait for the soup to try the breadstick so he tried it with a little of the maple butter, claimed he could not taste the maple though:

Mmm, pretzel bread from Le Cellier is so delicious!

I need to try this! I actually love Dole Whip (despite not being a fan of pineapple, go figure), but the swirl is really interesting me...

Where did you end up going and how was it? Aw thanks. Yeah, the lighting there is pretty interesting! I wish they would teach their photopass photographers a little about photography!!!

:rotfl: That's so hilarious. #ThanksPhotopass

Ooo I can't wait! So far we're planning to eat there in May.

We have a 2 hour delay at work so now that I've cleared the rest of my snow (my angel of a downstairs neighbor cleared my entire car and parking area last night for me!!! but I had to start the car and touch it up a bit as snow was packed into certain areas, but wow!) I'm gonna get to my LTT next since I'm sitting here drinking a protein shake milking my two hour delay at work!

I hate that too, those bagels are not exactly the freshest and toasting is the only thing that saves them. reason number #84,516 I love my DVC :)

You are never gonna be hungry enough to finish that thing. it is HUGE. also see my rule about the first 2 bites being the best. I could have eaten more but even in full stomach days I could not finish a dessert that size.

His 4th major food group is "molten cheese". I can get on board with all of that too!

My shirt I made at redbubble, google it (custom shirt maker where artists upload their art). lots of fabulous figment art there! I have never found a ready made figment I like, obviously this guy who made this art is a classic figment fan, I ended up with two, I couldn't decide (and a third for the kid).

Try the swirl! I really enjoyed it a lot! it's a nice balance. I think just when I see something frozen I want it to be creamy not sorbet-ey.

OK on to LTT!!!

Day 3 Dinner: Liberty Tree Tavern

This was probably kiddo's most anticipated meal of the entire trip (after CA Grill). On our last trip we were going to do LTT and at the last minute I changed it for Skipper Canteen because I felt like trying something new. I loved my appetizer that I had for lunch but thought the kungaloosh dessert was disappointing. Kiddo had basic mac and cheese with a side of fries subbed for the broccoli and the mac and cheese was cold and fries were steak fries (that was still in the days of "there is too much potato in this french fry" - he has a wider range of acceptable fries now) so he was not a fan, but he did really love the volcano dessert. So basically while I'd go back to Skipper Canteen and want to try other things, it did not hit it out of the park.

LTT is an old favorite of mine too. I have those dated souvenir glass steins from the late 90's and early 2000's and then a couple when they stopped dating them (the ex kept some so I only have one or two). It used to be my favorite character meal. I have a degree in art history and historic preservation so I am really into any kind of old americana stuff, it just makes me feel warm and fuzzy and at home in that restaurant. The kid was really looking forward to it too, because he played Ben Franklin in his school's "revolutionary wax museum" where the kids were all "wax figures" that came to life to talk about their life and times. He was so stinking cute too, just have to embarrass him for life and share:

18922063_10154435609166286_5053353440372751665_n.jpg

So I may sound like a bit of a broken record, but really it is the best way to get what you want and avoid waits, an 11am LTT lunch was an absolute MUST on this trip. We only had one full and one half day in the MK and I know LTT can get backed up at peak times so I didn't want to wait a long time for a table. I did warn the kid, however, that I wasn't sure how they opened the restaurant and whether we'd be able to sit in the Ben Franklin room, but we could ask. He seemed ok being flexible on that.

So we showed up around 10:50 and checked in. There were not a lot of people there. I do love a mostly empty restaurant. Kiddo got a kick out of the fact that we are from a "colony" when almost everyone else was from the territory of Florida or Texas. I asked for the Ben Franklin room and someone came up to us a couple of minutes later and asked if we'd be ok waiting 10-15 minutes for that room because they weren't seating there quite yet, and the kiddo was all a huge enthusiastic YES so we settled in to wait. And once again it was really more like 3 minutes before we were surprised to be called.

Our waitress was kind enough to take our photo with good old Ben, kiddo was thrilled:

20180224_105605(0).jpg

We were seated at a truly lovely table right in a bay window. I would book this at opening again and request this again, it was really nice! So nice I had to grab a pic of it ("MOOOOOOOOOM ENOUGH WITH THE PICTURES ALREADY!")

20180224_105637.jpg

So once again, we had decided WAY in advance what we wanted to eat. I wanted the kid's pot roast, and the kid had originally wanted the turkey but then decided that the AYCTE sounded better. We were planning to share an ooey gooey toffee cake for dessert and a the price of a kid meal + OGTC = the AYCTE option with OGTC included for kids, so I said sure, why not? The one thing I fretted over internally was whether there would be BIG DRAMA over me having a few bites of the cake after not paying for AYCTE. I'm sure if you go over to the restaurant boards you will see people who will give dire warnings about that, if you eat so much as a morsel off of someone else's AYCTE meal, expect to be charged the full amount for an AYCTE meal. Spoiler alert: It was NOT BIG DRAMA.

I will just say quickly here that the kiddo did 3 AYCTE family style meals where I ordered a la carte and all 3 times we were explicitly told it was no big deal. I will go into detail about that as I go, but if anyone cares... but in general I think if you are ordering your own food and not asking for refills on the AYCTE option, they don't really care.

Anyway our waitress was super sweet and she started us off with rolls and butter. I did not actually try these but the kiddo had a piece of one.

20180224_110242.jpg

He ate it but didn't ask for more and I should have realized something was amiss at that point. See, kiddo is on meds for his ADHD and did not react well to the long acting version so he takes 3 doses all day long. There is a period when he has no appetite after taking them and it is a real balancing act for me to juggle his ability to regulate his body and not be sensory seeking in a way that is disruptive to people around him and for him to have enough appetite for him to enjoy mealtimes. Also I get about 12 hours of "regulated kid" and our disney days are longer than 12 so it is hard to manage all of that. Well I had given him a pill with the dole whip, around 10am because quite frankly he was driving me bonkers with the sensory seeking stuff and the park was getting more crowded so it was getting harder to manage... but unfortunately that put us into prime "not hungry" time when we showed up for this meal. It has actually gotten a lot better and he seems to have more appetite for a longer stretch of medicated time but I really did not know when the cutoff was and so I wasn't thinking. I was thinking "omg I can NOT take this anymore, this kid needs a chill pill and if I start now 12 hours from now will get me close enough to park close, by which time he will be too tired to be doing the stuff he's doing now."

But anyway, he still ate half of this roll and I think he liked it, not his favorite (which is a crusty roll) but not something weird with seeds that he won't touch. The roll was soft and the butter was soft and very spreadable, which is a must with a soft roll (rock hard butter + soft bread = not a good combo).

Then the waitress brought the salad and I said "oh, I'm sorry, I forgot to say that he won't eat that and you don't need to bring it!" She put it down in front of me and said "well maybe mommy wants a nice salad" and left. So here is the salad.

20180224_110248.jpg

Now I eat a lot of salad at home and have even come to crave it, but since I can eat so little it's stupid for me to pay for a salad and eat a fraction of it and then eat even less of my meal. But I was really happy to have this salad. It was already getting quite hot out (it was already over 70 when we were on Splash at 8am!) and this salad was AMAZING. I know @kastoney will completely disagree with me here, but I LOVED the iceberg in this. Maybe it's because iceberg is kind of taboo in salad now, sort of the "junk food" of salad, with little to no nutritional value. But this salad was ice cold, perfectly dry, perfectly CRISPY, perfectly dressed. I really really REALLY enjoyed the heck out of this salad. It also had other greens as you can see, spinach (which is my second favorite salad green, I think spring mix is my least favorite) and also spring mix, purple cabbage, shredded carrots, red onion, chopped english cucumber and grape tomatoes. This was the perfect garden salad. I love their house dressing too, a sweet and tangy vinaigrette. I also always ask for dressing on the side to minimize the extra calories but truth be told, I really PREFER a well dressed salad coming out of the kitchen that way, rather than a tiny taste of dressing on every fork, which is how I typically order it, so this was a huge indulgence to me. It was not swimming in dressing or going limp, it was just salad perfection. Have I mentioned just how much I love this salad??? I think I want to marry this salad.

Well the kid was nibbling bread and not too long after, the main courses came out. This is what they brought my child:

20180224_111118.jpg

I will say that this happens rarely, but this plate being brought out made me kind of sorry I can no longer pack it away... like I wish there was a switch where I could throw open the floodgates and just go to town. Alas, it doesn't work that way but this food looked SO GOOD. Unfortunately, since the kiddo had a waning appetite due to his meds, this amount of food was completely overwhelming to him and he started to freak out a bit. I asked the waitress for a separate plate and talked him down about how he didn't have to eat it all and he calmed down... here is the plate I made for him:

20180224_111314.jpg

I actually totally get how he feels to be honest. When I order in a restaurant I am often overwhelmed by the amount of food I am presented with and will ask for a bread or salad plate to portion myself out a comfortable amount of food. It's kind of weird how like me the kid is in some ways (he is a lot more like his dad than me but sometimes I come shining through). From 12 o'clock going clockwise he had turkey with gravy, mac and cheese, roast pork, pot roast, a tiny bit of stuffing and tiny bit of mashed potatoes. His appetite was definitely affected but he still ate about half of what I dished out. His favorite by far was the pot roast, he did not like the pork AT ALL (I tasted it and found it to be extremely salty/strongly seasoned on the outside and dry on the inside). The turkey was fine, but not his favorite and he liked the mac and cheese and considers it a step up from the bright yellow stuff. He was not into the stuffing or mashed potatoes.

I ordered a kid's pot roast and this is what I got:

I think this is actually a pretty generous serving for a kid's meal. it's a full big scoop of mashed potatoes, a decent serving of pot roast and a decent serving of green beans. The pot roast was KILLER. I'm not sure I ever ordered this here (or haven't in decades... but the last time I ate here they still had the tavern cheese appetizer!) but it was amazing. Fork tender, flavorful, not fatty, delicious gravy and even some caramelized bits. This was amazing. The mashed potatoes were creamy and buttery and the perfect bite was a little potato, a little meat, a little gravy. Seriously, heaven on a plate.

Now I AM a veggie eater but as beautiful as they were, I did NOT like the green beans here. They tasted too... green beany. You might think I am nuts but sometimes green beans have this flavor that I only associate with them as "green beany" that I do not like. I make them a lot at home and when I make them they are a little bit nutty, a little bit sweet. Maybe it's the variety of green bean, I don't know... these looked fancier and smaller than what I make... maybe these are french style? I also associate that "green beany" flavor with frozen green beans, I don't like them no matter how much I try. So the princess has to have green beans made her way or it's a no-go. I didn't like these, but luckily I had my lovely salad.

And here is what I had left when I was done eating. I ate a lot of the salad, but salad has a lot of air and water and crunches down to almost nothing in your tummy.

I really really REALLY enjoyed this meal. Like, I already had pretty high expectations and it exceeded them.

But the best was still yet to come... the ooey gooey toffee cake. But you're going to have to wait for the next post since I am at my image limit!!!!!!

Day 3 Lunch Continued: DESSERT at LTT!

20180224_114016.jpg

The waitress brought it and set it down with two spoons "to share with mommy." Kid took one bite and his eyes rolled into the back of his head... then he took a second bite and the waterworks started. "Mom, it's SOO good and I HAVE NO APPETITE! THIS IS THE THING I LOOKED FORWARD TO MOST IN THE WHOLE TRIP!!!!!!!!!!!"

OMG I felt like such an awful mother at that moment. The waitress came back over because he was so upset and I explained that I had given him meds that sometimes affect his appetite and he was sad he couldn't really enjoy his meal because it was the one he was most looking forward to. She of course noticed how much he left so started talking to him and he reiterated how upset he was at how much food there was, and told him that it is a LOT of food, they gave him an adult portion, not to feel bad about it. He said his favorite was the pot roast and mac and cheese anyway and she told him next time he comes, just order the pot roast and ask to substitute mac and cheese for the green beans. No worries, no problem. He calmed down a little, took one more bite of the ooey gooey toffee cake and I promised him that we'd come back on our next trip, which seemed to mollify him along with the conversation with our waitress. But MAN did I feel bad in that moment. He really had seemed so much less affected by the pills but I think the first 1-2 hours is still not good for appetite. So, lesson learned.

I had a couple of bites too but since the kid was getting so upset really couldn't enjoy it myself either, but it was good. It's hard to enjoy that kind of thing when your kid is in tears.

Total spent at LTT: $36.76 including 10% AP discount and a 20% + $2 tip .. when I order a kid meal I tend to add on a few $$ for a tip as if I had ordered an adult meal. Just because I can't eat as much, doesn't mean I am necessarily getting less service from the server. Since the adult pot roast was about $10 more, I added the equivalent of that difference in tip. This is really not that much more than we spent at CS when we each got a meal... so HUGE value there I think, especially with 2 kid meals. That's about what I spent at Skipper Canteen too when I went last year.

We managed to catch a bit of the muppets show right after lunch and then started using our fastpasses in fantasyland and it wasn't anything a ride on 7DMT couldn't fix... so as we say in our family, it was just a "bump in the road" and we had an awesome day in spite of the LTT disappointment due to mom's med mismanagement.

Here's a bonus pic of the muppets, because I LOVE the muppets. We only watched a couple of minutes of this because the kid was far less interesting.

We spent the afternoon doing fantasyland... a few funny bonus shots:

I love the kid's expression on it's a small world, lol

and finally, what happens when you keep backup magicbands in your backpack (my child has lost them mid-day, I always keep a backup so I don't have to interrupt our day or deal with guest services):

the kid got an enormous kick out of this.

Next up: the highly coveted Be our Guest DINNER!

I love the Muppet's show.

Great moments in history . . . . but only the American parts.

After seeing it, I will hum that line over and over, for hours. Drives my family nuts.

We just ate at LTT for the first time on our last trip, and it’s probably my favourite restaurant at Magic Kingdom now! The food is so good!

Where did you end up going and how was it? Aw thanks. Yeah, the lighting there is pretty interesting! I wish they would teach their photopass photographers a little about photography!!!

We did sci fi cafe, Wolfgang puck, the wave, garden grill, Casey’s corner, aloha isle, and then we did contempo cafe many many times as we were staying at CR because we found it so convenient and the food was pretty good. Next time (in November), we want liberty tree tavern, Ohana breakfast, California grill brunch, be our guest (not sure if dinner or lunch. The two credit really puts me off especially since my kids won’t eat any of the dinner options). I used your tips in first service of ADRs which totally helped us out. We always had great service and got food! Your DR helped to navigate what would work best for both my boys. The youngest LOVES steak and the oldest loves fries.

yes, it was elevated for me too! The kid also wants to try the plaza, which is one of those rare ones I have NEVER been to in my 20+ years going as an adult!

I don't think we did Wolfgang Puck last time but it is the kid's favorite DS option... that is before all of the new recent additions though, but it's the best QS if you're on the dining plan IMO. We want to try Homecomin' on our next trip. The wave is always well reviewed and I have eaten there but I can't get over the non-disney atmosphere... I can get "good food" here at home, I want DISNEY and lots of it, so I tend to gravitate toward the more highly themed even if not as well reviewed restaurants. We did caseys this time, will be reviewing that in a few more meals :) I am jealous about your CA Grill Brunch, and my BoG review will probably make you cry :) I will be interested to see how BoG shakes out with the new menu. a mandatory 3 course is kind of a non-starter for me, I am not sure I can justify wasting that much food just to eat there. I also won't do dinner buffets. I think the $35ish (give or take) for breakfast is about the most I am willing to pay to not eat much. Dinner buffets are closer to $50 and that is just toooooo much for me. BoG will start at $55 and who knows, maybe I will lose my mind and give it a try next trip if it is well reviewed but I bet it will go up from there, I'd guess to CRT/CA Grill brunch price levels to make it worth it on the DDP. But with tax and tip for two adults to eat at BoG it would cost about $140 and with tax and tip CA Grill dinner was about $110. I could have a glass of wine and we could share a dessert and still have food left over for that, and I bet the food will be much better.

As absolutely crazy as this sounds, I kind of want to try breakfast there. I know it's crazy overpriced but I feel like the kid and I could easily split something and for some reason it seems like the breakfast might be more low key and less chaotic than lunch. Like we could get the feast a la gaston and I could eat the eggs and sausage, he could eat the bacon and pastries and we could each have a few bite of potatoes. That's about how it tends to go at buffets anyway, lol. Maybe a PPO if they still do them. I like the PPO even if it's not a "ride advantage" because it moves a meal completely out of the park day.
