DD went to Colorado last week and was due to fly in late tonight to Dulles. Due to our stormy weather for today and tomorrow, her flight got canceled this morning.

At least it was canceled before she left Colorado Springs to drive to Denver.

Some interesting negative data points on Amex RATs:

Not only will BMO funding not count towards MSR, you won't even earn Starpoints on it.

Don't buy VGCs from OD/OM (and Staples too) with an Amex if you don't want the RATs to see what you're buying. So far it looks like you'll still get points for the purchase, but that could change (see above example).

I hope this is more of a trend with Southwest flying to Hawaii.

There was a lot of hope that Virgin America entering the Hawaii market would drive down prices. It did initiate a bit of a fare war early on, but flying to Hawaii is expensive and prices crept back up. You can still find good prices during the weekdays and offseason, but that's not useful for a lot of us juggling work and school schedules and vacation time.

I have to say that with Alaska's companion fare and Southwest's companion pass, Hawaiian's companion discount is mighty pathetic.

OMG those sale prices are AMAZING!! Luckily we can't swing the hotel stay costs right now so pass... But I have some serious hope for the future!!

Saw a roundtrip SJC to LIH for $207 on American mid-end April. It's spread for sure but only to the routes AS services and days of their sale it seems...

I would call ‭1 (800) 945-2028‬ and have them expide the card. I called Tuesday morning, the card arrived Thursday.

I totally agree! I just got rid of my Hawaiian airlines card because I was never able to use it. I love the airline itself, but I've branched out thanks to the British Air/Alaska link. This $197RT price is insane though. It's the lowest I've seen in years. We already have a trip planned (10 days and counting) or I'd take advantage. I hope my mom will be able to use it though. She was planning to go in May. I, too, hope SWA entering the market will see more fares like this. I try to hit the $358 price point, which seems fairly consistent from Bay Area except for high-seasons. But I wouldn't be adverse to a $200 price point

So, I have the CSP and CSR. I use the CSR more due to the benefits. So, I am thinking that I should just go ahead and call to do a product change from the CSP to a Freedom or Freedom Unlimited. I understand that the cc number does not change so you don’t have to do anything if there are recurring charges on it.

I am just dragging my feet in making the call as I keep on thinking that once I let go of the CSP, I won’t be able to get another CSP unless I cancel the CSR, right? Though I really am not using the CSP that much. I have one recurring charge on it.

Maybe, I just need somebody to tell me that this is a reasonable decision. Or just need somebody to push me in that direction or just hold my hand, lol.

Would appreciate any advice

I actually cannot come up with a single reason why you’d want to keep both a CSR and CSP long term... like I really tried to come up with one.

EDIT: It seems to me that the CSR has EVERY benefit of a CSP and then some. Based on that I'd say it makes sense to have EITHER a CSR OR a CSP but NEVER makes sense to keep both long term (i.e. beyond earning the bonus on both in yr1).

The Freedom will give you rotating 5% bonus categories and earn URs which can transfer to your CSR to be used at the higher redemption rate thru ur portal. If you decide you want another CSP you have to wait 2 years to get the bonus again and you could downgrade the CSR at that time. ( or just pc the CSR to CSP sooner if you just want CSP)

DISchurners REMINDER: Please remember to copy and paste your links into the new support threads Here's my original post (with instructions) from the other day:

IMPORTANT DISchurners "SUPPORT" LINK UPDATE
One limitation of Reddit is that after 6 months a thread gets locked. This would not be fair, as it would not allow anybody new to add their links (although existing posters could still edit their comments). Therefore we will refresh the "support" threads every 5 months. Today is the 5 month mark. I have created 3 new identical support threads which you will find on the DISchurners main-page. The old threads will also be left up for a few weeks to allow time for everybody to copy and paste their links over. Here is the process I would recommend to efficiently get your content added to the new thread:

• Access the DISchurners main page
• You should see three "new" threads near the top and three "old" threads near the bottom (one each for Chase, Amex, and Other/Misc)
• Click on one of the "old" threads and then find your comment
• Click Edit on your comment
• Select all of your text in the comment box and then click "Copy"
• Find the corresponding "new" thread and click "Paste" in the comment box, then click "Save"
• Your links and text should come over with the same formatting
• I then advise that you click EACH link to make sure they still work, update/remove/add any if necessary
• Then repeat this step for the other 2 threads (Remember, there are separate threads for CHASE, AMEX, and OTHER/MISC)

If you need help with any of this don't hesitate to PM me. During the next 1-3 weeks we will have 2 threads up for each "issuer". Once the majority of people have moved their links I will PM a reminder to those that haven't done so and then remove the "old" threads.'
