Another lovely day in Oklahoma. . .

I had a lot of catching up to do!

Love the photos, Jane! Looks like a fun trip if you don't count the ridiculous flight delay.

Kitty, you guys are all special to me, too!

Jevs, what's going on in your part of the world?

Micca and McKenzie, I hope you two have been enjoying the same break in temps that we have. It has felt like fall here for the past several days. Extraordinarily rare for this time of year and had me hoping for an early end to summer. Sadly, the forecast says this won't last much longer. We have been enjoying it while we can, though!

ronandannette, thanks for saving the thread!

Cicada music is on my mind. The megatibicen auletes (very large, very loud cicadas) have hatched and have been singing day and night. They're louder than my white noise machine at night. We have oak trees, their habitat of choice, all around our house. We joke about how annoying they are now, but I know I'll miss them when they're gone. Hopefully all that noise is put to good use and they all find mates so they can carry on to regale us with their music another year.

Now, how did I do it? hmm... And, it looks out of focus, hmm... how to adjust that too.
A breakthrough!:cheer2:I'm sure you'll get things into focus.

It has been very pleasant here, glad you're getting a heat break too. Soon we'll all be grousing about how miserably cold it is.;)

It's my first time there over the holidays...my first time staying in a deluxe...and I'm
That's wonderful! Which resort will you be staying at? You know it'll be up to you to get your group coached up on hitting the parks early that week due to the crowds;) So crowded yet the weather will likely be delightful, and the holiday decor will make it seem like Christmas all over again.:earsboy:

We've only been once during that week but every time I hear about someone going during the holidays I sorta want to do it again (with the DGDs this time!)

Yeah, we'll definitely be trying to work the crowds!

We're doing a *really* split stay:
Port Orleans (FQ) before Christmas - MK and Epcot
Christmas with family - 2 nights, about an hour away
Animal Kingdom Lodge after that - DHS and AK

I want to go to AKL with you, PollyannaMom! LOVE that resort!! I bet the lobby will be so pretty at Christmas. Drinking tea on the balcony every morning while watching animals is so relaxing. We have never managed to get over to Sanaa because we enjoy Boma so much. Breakfast and dinner are both delicious. I hope you have the best trip ever. Super excited for you guys!

, Micca - we're just enjoying the moment today, remember?
Oops... To make up for that I'll be enjoying many extra moments today. I've had a nice moment already-- My son-in-law took 5 yr. old DGD for her immunizations for school this morning, and no tears! She was a champ and got TWO suckers for her bravery. (And no I don't mean me &DW.)

Good morning, everyone! It's 82 degrees, overcast, and 97% humidity in Orono, Maine, at 9am! They are saying mid-90s today once the sun comes out. As we say in New England, it's gonna be a scorch-a today! Once DH is ready we'll head to work and the a/c. I'd planned to stay home to grade today (end of summer session) but without a/c? Not happening!!

DC was lots of fun and the JT/Eagles concert was amazing! JT's age is starting to show in his voice, but the songs were set to be in his range and it was great to hear him. The Eagles were INCREDIBLE. Glenn Frey's son, Deacon, took his place in the band and did a pretty decent job of filling his dad's shoes. They played ALL the old songs we could ever have wanted to hear. Watching them (on the big screen) play the acoustic guitar parts at the end of Hotel California was incredible- totally amazing. They closed with Desperado, under a full moon at Nationals Stadium, and it was... inspiring. Terrific concert, and an amazing way to celebrate turning 62! We ate good food, drank good drink, did a bunch of touristy things, and it was over too soon. The weather was pretty damned hot, but at least the rain stopped. Looks like it's raining again in DC, so I guess we were there at the right time.

Now I'm planning two more jaunts before school starts in September. DH and I are seeing the Beach Boys on 8/10. He needs to be in work for the weekend, so I think we might go down to the Boston area on Wednesday evening, spend Thursday in Boston, see the concert on Friday and drive home at the crack of dawn on Saturday. My other journey this summer is to WDW with DD. We'll be there 8/22-8/28, staying at AKL to celebrate DD's 25th birthday. I got a killer rate from a TA (about $195 a night, including tax), and it's always been a dream. I've asked for partial savanna view, so we'll see. We have dinner reservations at Sanaa, Boma (our favorite, never-to-be-missed), Biergarten, Raglan Road, and Narcoosee's. We've only been to Boma and Biergarten before, so it should be fun. We also have a breakfast at Boma and will be going to the MK fireworks dessert party. I don't usually do that kind of thing (bariatric surgery has left me with neither the desire or tummy space for desserts) but DD's up for it and we'll get a decent view of the fireworks. This may very well be our last mommy/daughter trip (she and her boyfriend are saving to go when Star Wars opens, and then he said they probably won't go back until they have kids), so I decided to do it up. Having $1200 in Visa rewards points and $450 in gift cards makes it easier, too. We are both VERY psyched for this trip; we are going to take it easy and stretch out park days with afternoons by the pool bar, hahaha!

Today is the last day of summer session; I am giving an organic chemistry final this afternoon. Fortunately it's multiple choice; once it's over, I'll have to grade 16 quizzes, 16 finals, and 16 lab reports and then I AM DONE. Of course, then I have to stock the labs, fill the student glassware drawers, and get the chemicals ready for fall. Classes start on 9/4, and as of now we have about 185 kids signed up. we have space for 210, so I have quite a bit of work ahead to be ready for 9/4. It seems like a long time, but I KNOW it'll fly, especially with being away. UGH. I like the job and the big increase in our income, but I DON"T like working 50 hours a week. That's gonna have to change; I am contracted for 40 hours, specifically, even if I am salaried. I just need to get my feet under me and be there for a bit longer (only started 1/1/18) before I start making waves.

Anyhow... that's what I am up to. Hopefully everyone will have a terrific end to their summers; even though it's still warm, daylight is getting shorter and shorter. That's OK- I love fall; it's what happens after fall that I am SO not looking forward to!!

@leebee this is the kind of post it's great to see:thumbsup2 Great to hear you & DH (and DD)are out there seeing some shows and doing some trips. Sorry about the heat though. As a fan of the "In-of-doors" I don't know how I'd cope without a/c. Your WDW trips sounds like a blast. We usually have at least one DD on our trips to WDW, and we all have a great time. They sort of grew-up going to WDW every few years and now we're taking DGDs so they can have the same experience.

Wishing our fearless OP, King Schultz/Willy J, a very Happy Birthday, a day early. Seeing as how Willy's birthday tomorrow falls on a Saturday this year, I thought it good to maybe wish him his good wishes today while there are more people around.

Here are a few pictures of our buddy from the Riddle-Con dis meet from 15 years ago....a beer or two, maybe a bottle of NyQuil in hand. Sure do miss you around here, Willy.'s Really do. Hope you are well.

Happy Birthday, Willy!!!! And many, many more.

And here is a link to some pictures from that Riddle-Con dis meet back in 2003. People came from all parts of the country to Cedar Point. One of the best get-togethers we ever had here, wonderful memories of so many good people, most of whom are no longer around here any longer. :(

I've bought a new Samsung Tab A and having 'Fun' trying to navigate it!

My BlackBerry finally bit the dust!
To make a long story short on 4th of July I dropped my phone on concrete and after over 2 1/2 years had to upgrade. While an S6edge to an S9edge isn't too too much of a difference there were some navigation things that took a bit and still are. Probably the biggest one is that there's no physical home button and it's just a touch feature..I'm finding it to be a bit annoying at times but *sigh* oh well.

We also got a new tablet the Fire HD 8 from Prime Day but we're used to the functionality of tablets so it's not been too hard. The hardest I think is remembering to switch accounts. We have an Amazon Prime account where it's sharing the benefits to Aaron's account so on the tablet you basically can have multiple accounts. I'll open it up and wonder where the game I was playing went to only to realize I'm not signed in under my account and instead under Aaron's so I have to switch accounts-still getting used to that.

BTW loved the vacation photos! :)

OMG this past weekend was glorious. We 'aired' out the house for the first time in a very long time. Between my allergies and the heat and before that the longer than normal cold it's been a long time since we could have the windows all open.

:tink:Working on plans for my next Disney trip!!!!

(POFQ Dec 22-24, Christmas with family in Florida, then AKL Dec 27-30)

Yay! How exciting and Deluxe! I bet you'll have a lot of fun.

DC was lots of fun and the JT/Eagles concert was amazing!
Glad to hear it was a good time ::yes::

Now I'm planning two more jaunts before school starts in September.
And that's very exciting another concert AND a WDW trip :hyper:. And that price is awesome!

@Dan Murphy thanks for posting those photos.
