I love credit cards so much!

Yeah, this likely seals the deal on dining plan for my trip next year. If I'm paying cash, it's definitely not going to be worth it now. I'll just take advantage of every Disney GC deal I can and go from there.
I was kicking around the idea of DxDP on one room with the ILs trip, and using the credits for all of us on the more expensive options. Guess that's out.

Also, how will I justify all of my last minute Disney trips if I can't use URs, either by calling or through the portal?

It's a serious bummer. I'm definitely going to be playing with different date/hotel/ticket options a lot between now and our trip.

The "marketing speak" in here is just sooooo bad. How can they in good conscience write some of this stuff:
  • we are constantly looking for new ways to deliver the best experience possible for our guests
  • guests are increasingly looking for easier ways to plan a vacation with personalized options that fit their individual needs.
  • These changes are designed to simplify the booking experience
  • give guests an enhanced way to purchase theme park tickets
  • help them more easily plan
Nothing about planning a Disney trip is EASY. They are welcome to do whatever they want with pricing...they run the company, but to claim this is the "best experience" and an "easier way to plan" and "simplifies the booking experience" and is "ENHANCING" something...is A COMPLETE LIE.

The ONLY true statement in the whole thing is this:
  • Introducing date-based tickets and pricing will allow us to better distribute attendance throughout the year

And of course they follow that up with this gem of a line:
  • so that we can continue to improve and deliver a great experience

Again - I have no issue with Disney making changes they feel will benefit their profitability. It's up to me to decide if I will continue to go or not based on any changes...BUT please don't patronize me with 4 paragraphs of marketing speak telling me how great these changes are...

but marketing speak necessary.
did you want them to tell it in plain english. that would not help their image at all.

I am still naive enough to think that a company can communicate honestly and not treat us like we're stupid... :) (and yes I fully acknowledge that it is naive of me to think that, LOL)

They didn't need to be blunt about it...but they could have used a lot less words...Here's the same announcement without a bunch of fluffy marketing speak:

At Walt Disney World Resort, we are constantly looking for new ways to deliver the best experience possible for our guests. Beginning Oct. 16 on DisneyWorld.com, guests will be able to access our new online vacation-planning destination and purchase tickets priced by the date of visit.

As our parks have increased in popularity, there are more and more guests who wish to experience our world-class attractions. Introducing date-based tickets and pricing will allow us to better distribute attendance throughout the year so that we can continue to improve and deliver a great experience.

The new online vacation-planning destination features park offering overviews, travel tips from Disney Parks Moms Panelists and customized suggestions based on each guest’s personal preferences – helping guests make more informed decisions.

When guests are ready to purchase tickets online, they may use an interactive online calendar, which displays different prices based on the dates guests choose to visit and states tickets will need to be used during a specific time period. The calendar also allows guests to quickly see the lowest-priced days within a month. For example, prices may be lower during off-peak travel periods.

Once tickets are purchased, guests will be able to continue seamlessly planning their vacation on the website through My Disney Experience, which guides guests through the different phases and steps of personalizing their vacation to make the most of their travel party’s unique interests. Guests can manage their plans through the My Disney Experience mobile app as well, where they will also be able to access the interactive calendar and purchase their tickets on the go.

This is an incredibly exciting time at Walt Disney World Resort, which continues to grow and expand with industry-leading immersive lands like Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Toy Story Land and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. In addition to these groundbreaking expansions, guests will also have a chance to experience upcoming attractions that take creative storytelling to the next level from the recently announced “Ratatouille” and “Guardians of the Galaxy” attractions at Epcot to a Tron-themed attraction at Magic Kingdom Park, to the first Mickey Mouse-themed attraction with Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway and so much more coming soon.

I did say though that IF by some miracle...Disney actually REDUCES prices for some travel times that I will GLADLY eat those words :)
Actually, might happen for like one specific random ticket lol. When they moved Disneyland one day tickets to value/regular/peak the value one day ticket was actually cheaper than the previous price. Someone tried to get a refund (it was like $15 cheaper?) and that was a solid no from Disney. But don't fret too much, everything else was more expensive!

So AMEX offers...I added one for Boxed.com to our new BCP card like an hour ago. Am I good to order from Boxed now...or should I wait a day to be safe, lol. (Yes I know that I sound like a newbie, but I rarely use AMEX offers...haha)

I don't recall any DPs of people not being able to use their Amex offers the day they add them.

Good to go as soon as you add them in. I did one 30 seconds after adding and I got the credit...Done multiple times.

That's it, screw it I'm going for the Starbucks card next! Bring on the free grande hot chocolates :drinking1 :coffee:

But really this does make me think about the next step with what I've got. Does it make more sense to PC my CFU to the CF to use the bonus cats and get the extra there I can and then switch my everyday stuff I'd been doing on the CFU to the AS biz, Hyatt and DL Amex biz. It still gets me UR's, also keeps the other cards being used and therefore the banks happy and it gets me some earnings in what I use most. And then CSR/CSP once I PC for travel and restaurants.

I have to meet the MSR on the AS biz first so time to figure it out. But if I'm going to have to continue saving money for WDW hotel's (which I'm ok with and what I've been doing) then the other vacations need to more fully pay for themselves.

Lots to think about over the next few months.

Definitely need to get my plans settled over the next week or so and decide where I'm going...

Did @amalone1013 end up getting her tickets that way? I know she's down therr now but can't remember on the tickets since she combines so many different things to save
I ended up going with UCT tickets for USO.

I forgot to share earlier that I received an email for the Starbucks Visa. This time for 6,500 stars for a $500 spend instead of the 2,500 originally advertised... That is A LOT of free drinks.
That's 52 free drinks... if you always get a Venti at $5.50ish, that's about $286.00 in free drinks, minus $49 fee. that's $240 for $500 spend, great ROI.

Yeah...also kinda like when Marriott improved their award chart with the merger??? :rotfl2::rotfl:

Wait...too soon??? LOL!

So the ticket discussion has bled in r/churning. u/nuhertz who is kinda the Disney expert over there feels that the Chase URs w/ Disney change and this new Ticket change are linked. I personally don't see the connection...Why would they remove HOTELS from the Freedom portal over a ticket change?

Wondering what everybody thinks here?
