I’ve skimmed some of TPG’s Disney week articles (don’t hate me! I know, I know, “but clicks!!”- curiosity got the better of me!). They have some good info, some old info, some bad info, nothing that interesting tbh. Unfortunately one of the restaurants they mentioned as don’t do was be our guest at lunch because it’s a zoo- I have us scheduled for BoG lunch. They put this picture up of the hallway packed to the gills to prove their point, it looks like crowd hell.... I do NOT want that! But I also don’t want to cancel a hard to get ressie because I was TPG’d with bad info. Anyone here familiar with BoG lunch?

Ok, really dumb question since I feel like I’m the only one who has never bought a visa gift card, but does it matter which one I buy? I see fees for $5.95, $3.00, $1.95. There was so many I got confused and just left. My van has been in the shop and it does not take Amex so I was going to buy a $500 GC so I could at least put that much on my Amex. Can I just buy it on my way and use? I know some people talk about registering them so I’m unclear on what to do. Also I was going to buy at Kroger for 4x but then I noticed a sign that said variable load financial gift cards get no fuel points. Then I see a coupon in my app for up to $100 visa/mastercard gets 4x. But I don’t want to buy several when I could buy one. Ughhh Help me please, feeling dumb.

And if I’m not getting fuel points should I get elsewhere?
No need to register it. Only if you are going to use it online as most merchants require a zip code to pass the security test.

Don't know how interesting this is to anyone but I got an email from United about a purchased miles bonus:
Buy 5,000 - 14,000 miles | Get 25% bonus
Buy 15,000 - 29,000 miles | Get 50% bonus
Buy 30,000 - 88,000 miles | Get 70% bonus

So 30k miles is a 21k mile bonus, $1130 after tax for 51k miles. I know that doesn't usually make sense to do, but I also know there are edge cases where it works out, so FYI just in case someone's on the edge :)

Yes,exactly I have to upgrade before that date. I think it's the word prorated that has me confused.... I just want to calculate the cost of the AF I'd have to pay this fall ....if I do nothing,I'd pay $95...if I upgrade, what am I paying instead? or in addition to? or less than? wouldn't it save me $ off the Luxe Af to upgrade now? (I thought I read that somewhere)

Your $95 is due in November?

I would think that if you upgraded now, your $95 annual fee would be prorated by 1-2 months = $95 divided by 12 =$7.91 per month. So if they gave you 2 months of credit, that would be 2 times $7.91 or $15.82 off the $450 Lux annual fee, which would get posted in your first statement. My first statement closed Sep 10 with a due date of Oct 5. So You would owe at least $434.18.

Now, this just my math - no telling what Amex will do, but any proration again in my opinion will be a minimal amount as they are prorating what you already paid, I would think. I could be and hope I am completely wrong.

I guess it could be that they would prorate the $450 but I doubt it.

It's been three years since I went to BOG at lunch so my DP is outdated. Yes, it is crowded, but my experience was not like in the picture. We easily found a table and our food was brought out very promptly. You can also order through the MDE app now, so I think you can just go in and head almost immediately to a table without the craziness of people trying to order at kiosks. Someone correct me if I'm wrong on that last bit.

I've had lunch there 3 times and I didn't feel in crowd hell. There's a small area inside that gets packed right after you are called and right before you find a seat, where they sort of process your order if you haven't done the advance ordering. I never advance ordered and didn't find it to be too much, and I don't do a lot of lines. They manage it quite well I think.

Also, I do not agree with their suggestion of eating in the Beast's dining room. Yes, it is a really cool room, but it's SUPER dark in there. We've always eaten in the ballroom for all three of our visits. It's no problem at all to get up and check out the other rooms after your meal if you want to see them.

Quoting myself because I have another idea. Our SW CP expires at the end of this year and we got a lot of use out of it. I earned that one by opening two SW cards concurrently. I know October is ideal for starting the process of getting another and DH is eligible. I did it by opening a Plus and Premier at the same time. What is the current advice for getting the SW CP? He can easily and legitimately open business cards.
The Biz has the 60k offer, you should definitely apply for that. The Plus & Priority only have 40k bonus. If you have SW flights coming up you can apply for the 50k inflight bonus.

I wouldn’t give it up. I went recently. We checked in and went to wait in a line outside the castle to go inside. There was maybe three groups ahead of me. I was inside fairly quickly maybe 2-3 minutes. Once inside we got directed to someone right away to place our order. We found a seat after some searching that was in the back corner of the room right when you walk in (idk what it’s called). SO and I took turns going to the bathroom while the other held the table and waited for our food. We got drinks and then a few minutes after all that our food arrived. We both got French dips and loved them. Definitely one of the better quick service restaurants.

I'm not a Kroger shopper, but from my recollection you only get the fuel points on the financial gift cards when you have the coupon. Check the fine print on the coupon, some coupons are for 1 time use and others are for unlimited use, it would seem. @pillow - was that you on the GC thread that gets unlimited use ones?
I'm out of my element here... just jealous you all can get points :) Acme fixed the glitch that got me points before so we get $ off coupons sometimes now but no points to go with it.

I wandered around all over the place the first time to see where I wanted to sit. and the minute I sat out came the food.

Thank you all. Keeping the ADR! (And not skimming any more Disney week TPG stuff...)

Please refresh my memory. I got the CSR last Nov 14\15. I know the af will hit Dec 1
Will the travel credit become available on Nov 14\15 or q different day?

We did it on our 2016 trip. It was crowded but if you ordered your food ahead of time that line was almost non existent. However, somehow I ordered it but it wasn't really ordered so I still had to recreate it. So I accidentally skipped the line (would have been nicer to have just had it pre-ordered though) The hallway looked daunting until you realized it was all the folks ordering that took up the space, if it's the same place I'm thinking of. I'm TPG challenged it would seem, I can't find his Disney articles (just the one from yesterday's price announcement) to check the pic. Once inside it was the same as any other QS, people roaming around for tables, drinks, checking out the pictures. It took us a few minutes to find a table, but again, kinda felt like the same as Cosmic Ray's except cooler décor.

I'll add the grain of salt, we did it early Nov so not sure how that crowd calendar compares to your trip.

For @gottalovepluto - while waiting outside, I needed a bathroom before entering the castle. I asked the guy at the door and was quickly directed inside to the bathroom, which is to the left near where people exit.

Just want to say I got approved for the CIP! Got my card in the mail yesterday and should be at least halfway through the MSR in a couple weeks. Thanks for all the encouragement!
:jumping1:

One question for timing my next card - I'll probably do the CIC. I read online that 90 days is a general rule before applying for another card (I'm also a slow churner so generally every 3 months is fine) - is this a strict rule? And does it mean 90 days from when I applied or from when I was approved? I know I have another big expense the middle of December so I'd like to put it on the CIC to meet the MSR in one shot. I applied for the CIP on 9/9; approved I think 9/17 (or within a couple days after).

We did lunch there on a previous visit, not last week. I don't typically pre-order due to allergies, but I did pre-order this one and I did not feel crowded at all. I felt we spent very little time in line. We were able to walk right past everyone ordering.

We've eaten lunch there three times, the most recent being July. The area that can be zoo-like is the potential line before the ordering area. This past time we showed up 45 minutes before our ADR time of 12:30, checked in, and was directed immediately to the line across the bridge into the building. A cm split the line into preorders and non-preorders. We cannot preorder because of allergies, but still we only waited maybe 5 minutes until we were directed to an ordering kiosk *especially for allergy orders with a cm there* (which was incredible). Ordering was fast and we chose our table in the room to the right of the main room (forget what that's called). We like it there because it is quieter and there's enough light to see. Food came pretty quickly, despite being an allergy order.

Oh gosh, I can't imagine :) We checked that one out last and couldn't believe how dark it was. It might seem fun for a few minutes but I'm not sure I want to eat a whole meal like that. Is it that dark during dinner too?
We ended up in the room on the right, is that the rose room I guess? not the main ballroom and not the beast's dungeon.

In May last year the travel credit went from personal year to calendar year. I'd think you now have to wait until 2019 if you weren't grandfathered.

EDIT- I got it backwards...calendar year is now when it refreshes. Thanks @amalone1013
