Not sure if you have this info yet, but the multiple use of a biz mailer could be fairly loose if timed right:
https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/b3p7e6/comment/ej5tlbz

Here's the DP I would want - using the same mailer from different PCs. I don't think Citi is that sophisticated to notice different locations, but with my luck it'll be the one thing they did right (or have a bug that creates this unintended restriction that seems right). So as to not jinx anyone I won't hop on the train :p But I sense some application parties coming up potentially.

so P2 just got an email from Amex offer- upgrade from Hilton cc,spend 4k,get 150k points. $450 AF(!) anyone think this is a good idea? Can you help me with pros and cons here? (We've got quite a few hilton points so that seems to be 'our' choice for now) I'm just AF averse unless there's a really good reason for one that high....

Anyone use points from Capital One Venture card and if so, best way to utilize towards Disney vacation?
We used them for flights in February. We booked 5 tickets through the Chase portal using UR's and we booked 3 directly through the airline using DH's Venture. Then we "erased" the charges with the Venture points. It was really simple. You have 60 days I believe to erase charges. I haven't done it but I'm assuming WDW charges would be redeemable.

:offtopic:
Made my ADRs this morning!! Not a complete list since I'll play around with some of our days depending on where we get FPs to.

9/21- Homecomin' 4:00 (only time they had other than 9:20 for dinner for 6)
9/22- BOG lunch 11:15
9/23- Yak and Yeti 6:00
9/24- Teppan Edo 6:40
9/25- Boma 9:00 a.m., California Grill 7:15 p.m.

Really happy with these ADRs as these were all the places I HAD to have! Not thrilled about the 4:00 dinner at Homecomin, but we're flying over lunch so I figure we can just eat a big breakfast, have a snack while flying, and then eat an early dinner. I will probably book somewhere in Epcot for dinner on 9/26 or 9/27. Not sure which parks we'll be at on those days yet. It'll be more of a "where do we feel like going today?" more than anything.

Presumably this is for the Aspire, which in itself is a great card - in addition to what you listed, it also includes a $250 annual airline credit, $250 Hilton resort credit, free weekend night 6-8 weeks after account opening, and free weekend night 6-8 weeks after account anniversary. It's a fantastic deal even with the very high AF.

That being said, I'm guessing you've never had the Aspire before, in which case you do NOT want to take this offer. Amex bonuses are once per lifetime, so it's more advantageous to sign up for the Aspire by itself, then upgrade the Hilton CC so you can get the bonus twice. The upgrade offer does not include the lifetime language found in regular CC application terms.

I have been to all of them except Boma and I love them all. So jealous of your plans. I booked a free dining deal for September but it looks like SO won’t have enough vacation time so we will have to cancel.

It’s already been posted on the DISchurners news thread. :P

So far, the two DPs I’ve seen seem to be using the same device with different browsers and incognito mode. My suspicion is that if this method works on incognito mode, it should also work on two different devices as long as the mailer code remains active in those ~5 minutes.

Well, it was myself and a 3 year old, so long meals just weren't happening. And I've gotten to the point at Disney that I just don't have much interest in more than 1 or 2 table service per trip. They are time consuming, and if we have the whole family there, it is easy to drop $400 on one meal. No thanks. The less I spend on food, the more money I have to squeeze in alot of trip on my AP this year.
There was a time, before I had all these children, where I did enjoy nice meals every night at WDW. That ship sailed...at least for the next several years.
this is how I am now, after the kids are grown...I prefer snacking around the 'world' to all in at one table service place.....

@hsmamato2 DH and I each have our own Hilton Aspire $450 AF card. We are actually planning to work our way via upgrades to a second one for each of us and keep it too! We don’t put spend on the card but it’s a card that can easily pay for itself and then some if you can make use of it. The card comes with diamond statsus which I don’t even factor into the long term value of the card.

Here is the value for us long term: A $250 airline credit which we can both easily use even if AA doesn’t trigger it anymore. Then there is a $250 annual resort credit! I would have no problem using that combined with the annual weekend night certificate. We just used the $250 resort credits to pay for the ridiculously expensive sea plane flights to and from the Maldives. Granted I won’t be flying to the Maldives every year but there is a nice list of resorts where I can stay and use that credit. The annual weekend cert is not restricted to a category so it can be used anywhere there is a standard award night available.

And, I'm thinking it has to be somebody between The Doubletree in Madrid and the Hilton booking site. Some kind of inside job.

I often used to get Sheraton or Westin emails from the actual hotels after booking through SPG. They would offer upgrades for a reduced price but never did they ask for payment of the existing reservation through the email. I only once took an upgrade to club level, because usually I would get their upgrade anyway on checkin for free.

I had this e-mail this morning:

"Dear *WDW*Groupie*

Hope my email finds you well. I've reviewed your incidence while trying to make the payment through our safelink.

First, I would like to apologize for it and then I confirm you can pay at the checkin.

Doubletree by Hilton Madrid Prado

C/ San Agustín 3, 28014 Madrid - Spain"

I am going to take all documentation with me to the hotel to check-in (which I always do). I have a nagging feeling that I could get there and not have the rooms I booked. I am not getting a good feeling from this booking. And now I'll lose the AmEx offer of $45.00 off a Doubletree booking since it expires June 30th and my trip is in July. Maybe they'll have another offer for the summer.

Have you gone into every member of your family’s profile with Delta and entered each person’s KTN? I didn’t when we first received it and didn’t realize that the airlines (each one) needed it. So I had to go to all of my memberships-delta, american, united, BA , etc and enter them for DH, DD, DM, DF and me. It took a little while but definitely worth having TSA pre check, especially at some of the busiest airports.

@speedyfishy is correct- only the platinum card holder is allowed in without a fee ($29/pp). I did the math and if my AUs used the lounge 6 times in a year the extra 3 AU platinum cards pay for themselves (plus all of the extra amex offers). If your family travels even a couple of times a year you might want to consider that.

Have a good trip :)

Thanks! I’m the only one in the fam with a KTN right now. So I’m just happy my son got it too. Last time we flew DH got precheck for seemingly no reason. I thought maybe it was because he’s over 60 and was hoping he’d get it for this trip too. Hopefully this will make him want to go for a GE interview.

Chase Biz cards..... really strange way of charging..... is this standard? I had a large charge that was supposed to go on our SWA biz card two weeks ago....it was furniture order- so the first time csr rep ran the card thru(phone order,Macys is in the dark ages) it failed,b/c I gave number wrong. He redid the order, and I saw it the next day pending on card. then it disappeared....nothing for two weeks! We got our delivery, but no new charges, nothing. (WTH?) b/c of how the order processed I didn't get a real invoice, nothing. it was SOOOO strange but I had what I ordered so I didn't stress about it. Today I go look at the acct,bc I look daily to see if it posted, and there it is!!! IS this normal? I would guess if you aren't paying attention to charges etc this could mess with your budget etc. ETA- so it shows the charge as posting on 3/18,payment due on the 22nd!!! and yet it just appeared there since the last time I checked (friday afternoon,ok I guess the weekend checking got away from me) They'd better not charge a late fee on this

Ok, my computer refuses to quote. Trying to quote @miztressuz post about the SPG fee increase. I guess I will just have to wait it out and see what happens. I just assumed Amex was like Chase if you open in March, annual fee posts April 1, but with people saying their fee posting at random times, now I am confused. When does the fee post? Per my spreadsheet :thumbsup2 I opened the card on March 7, 2018. I could have sworn I opened it at a time of an elevated offer that did not waive the first year fee, but I just looked and have never been charged the fee.

For AMEX the fee posts on the last day of the statement, I think the statement your anniversary falls on? As far as I recall, all of the SPG cards always had the AF waived the first year...

I... uh, DH... opened his SPG Biz on 3/13/18, his statements usually close on the 12th, so I am predicting 4/12.

Just 12 hours late :p
Still trying to catch up, I didn't see it here or the Choo choo thread. Didn't think to check the news thread since I didn't notice it here; I'll correct that for next time :)

And right, since incognito worked as long as they don't have any kind of location tracking checks (like, this code was opened in Philadelphia and San Francisco in the last 2 minutes, or this code was opened from two different IP addresses at the same time) there shouldn't be an issue. Being Citi, I can't imagine this is a problem. That's taking fraud prevention to an extreme. Given how long it took them to correct the multiple use issue in the first place, I doubt this was high on the list of implementation.

Are you sure it’s not April 22nd? That would be too close for it to be due a few days after posting. I do remember the biz cards being weird about pending things disappearing.

Hmmm, looks like my statement should close today. Nothing posted yet. Will keep an eye on it.

@WVMomof3 This is correct. I opened 3/5/2018, 3/20/2019 charged the AF, statement closed also 3/20.

Also got my email about the free night 3/2, I'm timing them.
