Stroller rules to be enforced

I was in mom's group on facebook this morning, and the ladies were going absolutely insane over the fact that Keenz will no longer be allowed in Disney. Saying they were going to take their mom claws out and make sure that they got their Keenz in the park. Really?! I, personally, find wagons a bit too much for Disney, even pushable ones. So I'm glad they are putting a restriction out. Let's see how long before it gets re-worded.

And just FYI, I just confirmed that Keenz has updated their FAQs page on their website to read that as of May 1st, no type of Keenz stroller wagon will be allowed on Disney property.

I think people get upset anytime they are told they can't do something that they have done before and has become part of "how they do the parks", etc.

People don't like change and tend to think about worst case scenario and only think about the negative potential (and I fully admit I do this at times)

we use strollers, I am not saying people shouldnt' or anything, but I can't imagine someone who has gone with a Keenz and no*has* to use some other double stroller that does fit within guidelines is now going to have a horrible trip b/c of that (unless, of course, they go in expecting to have a horrible trip)

Sorry, I stopped reading responses on page 8.

What's the word on City mini double strollers? Allowed or not? If not, I'll need to make alternate plans ASAP.

Thanks!

I looked that up, the Citi Mini GT double is 29.75" wide so it is fine

Here's a visualization to compare a double tandem stroller to a Keenz.

Each will make their own conclusions. I only conclude I'm unsure why one is allowed and the other is not when both otherwise fit into the size limits.

I think Disney has decided that no wagons means...no wagons. And that includes products that are sold as stroller wagons.

Perhaps people with 1 child are more likely to reserve a Keenz than a double tandem. While they are the same footprint, maybe Disney wanted to reduce the overall size of strollers on average because of that likely scenario. Pure speculation would be also that it may reduce logistical concerns at entry of the park, perhaps it would convince those same people to go with less items, reducing the bag check lines. Though the first sentence is more likely, if speculating

Thanks, we have the non-GT one, which I think is a tad wider (30"). I wasn't sure which way I should measure.
I tried looking it up for you before I answered but there were different ones with different dimensions and I didn't want to give you the wrong answer.

I love how reusable ice packs are recommended but there's not a way to freeze them in most disney hotel rooms.
That was my thought too!! I would much prefer to bring an ice pack, but staying at a Disney hotel, I have no way to freeze it! So we've brought in small ziploc bags with ice from the ice machine, in a small insulated lunch bag with some lunch items for our kids (picky eaters!) and a few drinks. Guess that won't be happening any more! :(

Do they all have the "I need to speak to a manager" hair cut too?

'Mom claws'.... barf.

I wrote about this (it's in my sig!) but I think the best stroller is this one:

https://www.amazon.com/Delta-Childr...s=gateway&sprefix=doulbe+umbre,aps,145&sr=8-3

We used it 2 years ago. It's cheap, light weight, and folds up like a charm. It's sturdy and holds up. By cheap I mean that you can throw it away before you go home if you don't want to haul it back with you.

The only cons are that it has no underneath storage and if you're tall, it may be tough to push (I'm 6'2 and it wasn't terrible).

I'll just say this...we had our first stroller free trip last year, and got so much more done. I don't think some people realize how much time is used just unnecessarily walking back and forth to stroller parking areas. Come on folks....look for the positives.

Last October I took my grandson( 6 at the time) on my own stroller free. I was so sick of dealing with stroller rentals, stopping to park it and pick it up and lugging it on and off the busses. It was pure heaven not dealing with it. I am thrilled to be beyond the stroller years. We found that we really could tour the parks with nothing more than a light bag for a very few essentials.

looks like it is 30" which should still fit. Honestly, I sort of hope they have a very clear listing of which strollers are ok and which ones aren't - vs like a CM having a ruler and having to measure every one

I don't know about a list. I mean can you imagine going through ALL the thousands of strollers one can buy just to come up with a list of ones that are too big? It would take longer probably to go through said list rather than just measure it out especially going through all the models and trying to find the models on the strollers if they are even listed.

I'm still thinking they will use mostly judgement and measure when they think it might be too big. Could be wrong of course.

When I read threads about the Keenz really it became an issue with consistency.

It looks like a wagon..therefore it would get stopped by CMs sometimes
It can be pushed like a stroller..therefore it it was allowed by CMs

It's a wagon in structure and usage but can be pushed (rather than only pulled) like a stroller thus it became a gray area.

I don't know about turning radiuses but I can see how at times it may be clunky because of the design--that's actually the same with the very large strollers.

But regardless it may simply be best that Disney says no means no and call it good...so long as they are consistent on that lol.

You may already be aware, but just in case I wanted to mention the new policy starts May 1.

Yea just checked at EPCOT IG and she said you are correct that push wagons are ok for the next month, then no wagons as this thread mentions. She didn't know if there will be a measuring device or not for stroller size. We have a May trip tentatively will see if they are hardcore or loosely limiting.

My Niece has 3 kids under 5 and is very interested in what to bring.

She was hoping a wagon type but obvious needs to reimagine.

I’m a keenz lover and I agree, but I think Keenz’s problem is that they are literally too awesome. Anyone who’s ever faced the choice of struggling to get a toddler to nap in a regular stroller vs losing half a day to go back to the hotel for a nap is looking at these going THAT IS THE ANSWER!! And it is. And the parks are flooding with them. And one company already rents them, more probably would have started soon. And while there is a subset of people with 2-3 toddlers that ride in them that will now take up a larger stroller footprint with a double, triple, or two strollers, there’s also a huge portion of people (and more everyday) that were bringing them with just one kid for the nap reason and the parks just can’t handle the continuing conversion of that portion going from s single stroller to the Keenz. Especially with SWGE coming. So like I said, they were too awesome for their own good.
