Oh no. We really need a "dislike" button on the DIS!

I actually get to call Walmart soon because I ordered a gift card online and typed my own email address wrong. Yes, I am THAT stupid! I tried emailing them about it and this was their response:

"I have searched in the system about this request to resolve this case unfortunately the item you are requesting is not refundable. In this case since we can't provide a replacement or refund for the item, please be advised to dispute the charges with your financial institution."

Ugh.

My email with gift card finally came! So sorry you messed up your email, totally something I could do too. Hope you get it resolved. Good luck!

Picking up on the 'we can't be late'. What time is late? I'm in the area and drive the beltway fairly often.

The biggest challenge is when there is an accident, which is pretty frequent. Google says 3 and 1/2 to 4 and 1/2 hours from B'More to Lynchburg.

The Cherry Blossom peak was earlier this week - Monday or Tuesday I think. I doubt they will have much impact on the beltway, but if you try cutting through town (295) you will probably have a problem.

I would give myself a 2 hour cushion and then have breakfast somewhere around Fredericksburg. Not sure about using 29 as I've never needed to use 29 that far north to south in Virginia, and it wouldn't occur to me to do that. Not that it's a bad idea, but I'm more the 'jump in the express lanes and use my ez pass' type, but in the AM, they may be closed going south on Saturday morning after the Springfield interchange. The lanes on the Virginia side of 495 would be open until Springfield at least. I'd probably take 95 all the way to Fredericksburg and then 3 to Culpepper and then pick up 29 through Charlottesville to Lynchburg.

One thing guaranteed - there will be substantial traffic - the question is whether it will move at 60mph or 5mph, and your best guess on this will be to check it early tomorrow morning to see what is actually happening.

Editing to add in that 66 west to 29 could also be challenging as lots of people head that way on a Saturday to get out of town.
See I’d take 66 to 29. 95 north of Fredericksburg is excruciatingly painful in my experience. I would do almost anything to avoid that section of 95.

That's so exciting!! My dd will be there at that time too, but without the mother part :-( LOL. We did a mother daughter trip in 2015, and I think it's my favorite trip of all time! We had such amazing time!

Hahahaha well my DD was 19 so I guess that’s not apples to apples but I guarantee you will have the time of your life that you will remember forever.

We'd really like to be in Lynchburg no later than noon but we MUST be there by 1:00. We would leave in the wee hours but we also have to meet up with DD in the morning as she is going with us.

The route - 495 - 66 - 29 was picked by WAZE and Google Maps. I always get worried whenever the GPS picks something other than an Interstate highway. I have been burned by so may small towns, red lights etc. DD does have the EZ pass Express transponder but I wasn't sure if that would even help us on this drive.

What is wrong with 95 north of Fredericksburg? Congestion? Have you taken 29?

UGH - I am getting so stressed over this.
Edited to add - DH just showed me Satellite View and there's a boatload of traffic lights, at least at the beginning of Route 29. I think I will stay on I95 and hope for no accidents.

Yes, congestion and it’s unpredictable and is often terrible at times which make no sense. Honestly I’ve only taken 29 a few times since college so I’m more speaking from terrible experiences with 95 than good ones with 29. And I’ve got to take 95 home tomorrow—really the only way to get to Richmond from dca but it will be late so I’m hoping it’s fine.

Totally :offtopic: but, I hope someone here will have advice. We are planning to drive to Lynchburg, VA tomorrow morning from the Baltimore area, leaving at 7:30ish. The route has us going around 495 and then taking I66 to Gainesville and picking up Route 29 to Lynchburg. We can't be late, LOL.
My questions are
1. Will 495 be too crazy on Saturday morning due to the Cherry Blossom Festival?
2. How is Route 29 through VA? Is it a restricted access 4 lane highway or will be be slowing down through every small town?
So I live right off 29 so you will be driving right past me. Around Warrenton the speed jumps around from 45-55. Goes up to 60 around Culpeper. We are heading out down south on 29 tomorrow it shouldn’t be bad on the weekend. It slogs down through the Charlottesville area. I don’t go any further south than that. It does have stop lights along it. Getting through Charlottesville can be slow. It can also slow down around where it intersects 17. From about bealeton to Charlottesville it’s pretty quick. Hope this helps.

95 is usually terrible going north.
It can be bad going south around Richmond. We drive south since we have family south of Richmond. They complain driving north how bad it is.

I think it’d be so fun even with her just being 3. You girls can just go all out on princess stuff!! Hard to do when boys are in the mix.

I really want a mother/daughters trip so maybe when we have APs! My dh isn’t going to be left out very easily though :rotfl2: Not sure how some of y’all pull that piece off!
