BTW, I'm probably well behind on this, but when did the in-room Twilight Feast go to $60 per guest?

I was just looking back over the menus from prior trips:

1/2018 - $40 ages 10+, $20 ages 9 and under

7/2018 - $50 per guest

Now - $60 per guest

I remember the $40 to $50 jump but guess I hadn't paid attention to going to $60.

Not really unexpected I guess.

:scared1:Wow! That was quick. I can only imagine how much more it will be in 1/2019.

Just back from a week at my favorite Disney resort. :beach:

Poly is always such a fun place for our family to spend some time.

Had great boat and monorail transportation all week; used Minnie Vans on occasion when more convenient due to weather or just when we felt like it.

Lunch at Oasis Pool Bar & Grill was on point as usual. I could pretty much eat the Oasis Salad with Chicken every day and be content.

Tambu Lounge was rarely crowded, even during the height of Ohana dinner. One bummer, it seemed like the Lapu Lapus were pre-mixed. They’ve either always done this and I have never noticed, or this was new to me. Didn’t seem quite as good as prior trips, but maybe it was just me??

Lava Pool was the usual people soup some afternoons, but storms are pretty effective at clearing things out. We enjoyed the 11pm closing summer hours to extend our pool time a bit.

With the exception of a spot too far out on the main beach area, fireworks audio seemed to be on point from various spots all around the resort. You have to be careful on that main beach area as you can get too far off the path to hear well, but you can usually shift around to find better audio conditions if needed. Audio was quite loud around the grassy lawn outside of the Pineapple Lanai, Trader Sams Tiki Terrace, the pool deck, in front of the Hawaii longhouse.

Poly certainly has some nits, just like any resort, but it hit the spot for a mid-summer trip.

Happy to answer any questions!
Glad you had a great trip. I'm missing Poly again already!!

Hm. Now I dont remember what we paid in Dec 2018. It must have been $50. But even at $60, it's a decent deal. Of course, if they are worried about this encouraging people to skip Ohana then I guess we could see the prices go up even more. We plan on doing the Twilight Feast in Sept this year and I will have to remember to ask them to plate the shrimp skewers separately as I'm allergic to shellfish. I was afraid to eat any of the meat :(

Lol. It was a better deal at $40. I always thought it was too good a deal!

Speaking of Ohana...we may be somewhat odd in that we've stayed at Poly more than any other resort, but have only eaten at Ohana once 5+ years ago. Not that we don't like it or anything, we just find we're busy with other things and we have other things we want to do more than carving off the time to eat there.

Well, we gave it another shot this past week and it will likely be another 5 year hiatus for us again. I hate to get negative on things like dining because it's sooo subjective, but it just wasn't all that great. Service was slow and incredibly choppy. Food was reasonably good and tasty, no real complaints there. Just didn't walk away with a "worth it" feeling. So, back to the Twilight Feast for us.

Anyways, sorry... off topic venting.

It was definitely $60 per person at the end of June because I decided against it when I saw the price in the room service menu. I do dine at 'Ohana quite frequently, but this was a last minute trip and I wanted to fit something in before VAH. I couldn't find an 'Ohana ADR so I figured this was the next best thing. When I realized how expensive it would be and that I wasn't going to get ice cream with my bread pudding, I went to Tambu and ordered the skewer and a bread pudding. I saved 20% with TiW and paid about $20 total for food. All the "savings" went towards my Lapu Lapu budget :drinking1

I still think it is great for those who can't get an 'Ohana ADR or for added convenience, but the price value isn't what it used to be.

Finally tried it last summer because friends had booked a whole table. Far too much food for me. Agreed , service was random. Hard for table to get beverages too. Don’t they know that’s where the profit is??

I actually like Traders outdoor area. Dd and I now have that as our go to for a good time.

Sorry, the exact time of EWP is subject to small changes over the course of the year as the time for HEA moves around. I just got back yesterday, it currently stops at Poly at 8:40pm and GF at 8:55pm. HEA is currently at 9:15pm through 8/1.

@Lindaleeann - HEA is scheduled at 9pm during much (but not all) of party season. I suspect EWP will probably be at 8:50pm party night or not based on past precedent, but just keep an eye out. Disney's website has notoriously bad EWP info, and sometimes on-site CMs are just as bad, so sometimes asking around here close to your trip can be helpful to see what has been going on at the time.

Hmmm good thing your source is better than mine. Thanks for the update!

My family and just reserved 7 nights at the Poly 2/29-3/7 thanks to a generous sister-in-law renting us some DVC points on the cheap! Let the countdown begin!
Looking forward to discussing this beautiful resort (I have only stepped in and out a couple times for some Spiky Pineapples and weird concoctions at Trader Sams). I know my kids are going to love it!
Going to try to see if we can do this trip without the Dining Plan but those character meals can be pricy...

I thought I was the only one that thought this way since everybody raves about it. That is my favorite part of the bread pudding lol.

I agree, it is integral to the dessert! I was going to try and plead with private dining or walk over to the GCH and buy my own ice cream from the Mercantile and put it on top 😂

I told my daughter if we do this, I have to buy ice cream from the store and put it on when we are ready :rotfl2:
