When Will People Start Camping Out at WDW for SWGE Opening?

CM schedules will have to be changed for a 5a opening.
Not nitpicking. Some posters think they'll be let in as early as 3a if there are big crowds that early.

I was talking about the land itself. I have first hand knowledge on that. Rumors and I was also told this by a friend that works directly with operations is that the goal is to have the park ready to open at 3am to let people line up inside. This does not mean that rides will be open, just that there will be letting people go inside and line up close to Grand Avenue. Some have been told that the Indiana Jones theater will be used as a hold up space

Do you think I will have trouble getting into Hollywood Studios period? I just would hate to drive over and get turned away from the park and get charged $20 for missing my reservation as the cherry on top, haha.

that's a good point. I mean if the parking lot reaches capacity I'm sure they will be using Epcot's lot and shuttling people over. So you could still make it

If boarding groups are being used while you’re there (they were only used opening day I think at DLR), your Savi reservation should get your whole group in, if they handle it the same way DL did. A droid/savi/Oga reservation there got up to 6 people in i think? according to reports I’ve read here.

Oh I hope you are right-if I find out that's the case then we will sleep in or use the EEMH else where in the park and come back for the Savi's reservation at 11.

anything that doesn't fit in the trash can must be taken back to the vehicle. We used chairs, some people would bring sleeping bags and even small tents, but before the park opened we would take it back to the car.
This was when we were allowed to camp out outside the tapstiles, with rumors they might open the park at 3am to let people queue inside, those items will not be permitted inside the park

Phone CM information is so super terrible though I wouldn't be surprised if they are just reading the script about admission to Savi's and Droid Depot and conflating that with entrance to the land. I really hope they will follow the Disneyland approach of allowing a couple extra people in a group in with the reservation holder and plus one.

Grand Opening day and possible the week of I would expect them to hold to the "script" and then go from there as things taper off but who knows, guessing it depends on how the crowds will be like.....

If they are closed to the point where you can't get in period, you would not be charged for missing an ADR.

Any opinions about when to line up after opening day? Like on 9/4 or 9/6? I'm wondering if we should even bother going at our planned 4:30AM -on 9/4 DS has an 11AM reservation at Savi's-but that only gets 2 of the 4 of us in. We have a 6PM Oga's-what time will they let us in for that? If we can go in at 5 what kind of line for MFSR will there be?

You have the beauty of a nearly a weeks worth of operation to base your decision on. I would wait to see what they are doing and go from there.

I am still planning on leaving my house at midnight, will be at DHS around 12:15am. I'm sure I'll have people in front of me, but can't camp out like I used to

With the new configuration of parking and entrance, I'm thinking that chairs won't be possible like during SWW. Not as easy to quickly run them back to your car. Are you bringing anything to sit on? We are still debating what we're doing.

Correct. If it's for Oga your entire party in the reservation can enter. It's unclear for droid or savi since technically it's only the builder and one extra person that can do those experiences

I've got the nifty plastic sheets I picked up at Tokyo Disneyland that I use for parade waiting, fireworks waiting, and generally, OMG I HAVE TO SIT NOW moments. Second best Disney souvenirs I've ever gotten!

I just left DHS. Talked to a couple of cm
Tram operator: the parking lot will be open and staffed 24 hours
Security at entrance: first shift starts st 3:30am
Entrance cm : first shift starts at 4am
All of them told me they are expecting and prepared for people showing up by midnight

If the parking lot opens that early, I expect many people to cancel their Wednesday night hotel reservations
