I love credit cards so much! v3.0 (see first page for add'l details)

Ok, decision time. I'm looking for a card mostly for Plastiq mortgage use. This will be for P2 who is 2/24. (I don't want to list them out, but last Biz was 11/19, last personal was 7/19, has personal dropping in June).

The only card on my want list is Hyatt, but I have no upcoming stays planned so this can/will wait, and it's Visa so won't suit my purposes anyway. (Momma likes her hotel status lol)

Discover It Cash Back
No AF, would only get 1%, but doubled first year. I like the rotating categories for this year so that would be nice to have. However, this adds to his /24, which being so low isn't a big deal. I try to keep us at 4/24 so the door never closes.

Discover It Business
No AF and 1.5% but doubled the first year. That makes it a pretty good card for Plastiq, I would be ahead. Nothing else wows me about this card.

I ran some basic numbers and if I cap the quarterlies, the personal comes out ahead. But, that does pull spend away from some other cards. Decisions.

Which would you choose? I think I'm leaning toward the personal.
I believe Discover still reports business cards to your personal report so either Discover would up his count.

If that was the only consideration for the business card, the it Miles card has the same earnings with the double first year plus a $100 statement credit through some support links. (Some still show a $50 credit)

But if you can max out the 5% categories the regular IT card is probably still better.

@snugglebug @disneybirds - Thanks for the info!

If we get an upgrade, great, but I am not expecting anything. We are at HHV for half the trip to do and see stuff on that side of the Island (and save DVC points/burn Hilton points), so we won;t be hanging around the room/resort all that much. When we get to Aulani I think we will slow it down and do more resort-time.

I haven’t looked at the pool. 😂
That does sound scary with your daughter.
I am working 10 hours a day while I’m up here. I do love Montreal too. I’ll probably come up again next month for fun. We have friends that we stay with when we visit. First time for me staying in a hotel here in many years.
Thankfully it was maybe a 2 minute ordeal. We could see the floor numbers as it rose and it didn't stop and she didn't get out when it did stop. Then it expressed back down.
The pool apparently has a glass bottom over the foyer or lobby.

Are there 2 different versions of the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless card? When I go directly to the card application page, the SUB is 100,000 Bonvoy points after $5k spend. When I look at the card from a referral link, the SUB appears to be 3 free nights at a 35,000 point per night property after $3k spend.

Those free night awards would not be eligible at Swan or Dolphin correct?

This happened to me as a kid. In Milwaukee, on the way to go to the Zoo. My dad was still single, so I was 3 or 4, and I still vividly remember the terror!!!

She was fine. We all were freaking out. We were watching the numbers just in case she got off. I don't think she had time to get upset.

New Southwest Performance Business Offer... for those that like to SPEND A LOT!
https://creditcards.chase.com/business-credit-cards/southwest/performance-business
Earn up to 100,000 points!
Earn 70,000 points after you spend $5,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of account opening. Plus, an additional 30,000 points after you spend $25,000 total on purchases within the first 6 months of account opening.

I'm not sure I'm looking to spend $25k (that's almost all the money I spend in a year, lol) to get 100k SW points but figured I'd put it out there... This would be a path to a CP via just 1 credit card.

EDIT: I will say this...we have some people among us who apparently spend a TON of money regularly. And that's cool, but then you're butting up against the pacing recommendations and always wanting a new card. This offer could be perfect for folks like that who need something to preoccupy their spend for a few months!
According to DoC it's possible to get a match within 90 days. I'm within that window so I just sent a SM to request a match. We'll see what they say.

correct, Swan/Dolphin are 50K+ properties.

Same card, just two different sign up offers. And correct, the 3 FNCs wouldn't work at Swan or Dolphin.

Sometimes the FNCs could be a better value than the 100k points depending on a specific redemption. Although with the points chart changing it's probably harder to find.

If you're interested in the Swolphin I'd also compare cash prices for your dates. Sometimes it's not that expensive and 50k points+ resort fees per night could feel like a waste if it's a $250 (cash and resort fees) night.

Hey - it’s 2020 now - that card was almost FOUR years old!!

I have a card from 1994 that is still open. Was checking my list for #24. I had an older one but closed it after I paid it off. It was my first Chase card. I still have that old card as it had airplanes on it and I liked it.

Edited to add: my sign up bonus for my first Chase card - a tshirt.......

@wendow I’m guessing you have to enroll the cards in Shop with points as well? I did it for both cards. Right now it’s saying to refresh to see point balances and then says it’s unavailable. Maybe because I just added the cards so it’ll take a little bit

Thanks! I’ll try it again and see if it works

I remember reading some advice a while back to delete the card - wait 24 hours, then add it back. I don't know if that impacts the success rate but that was the advice that stuck in my head. It certainly seems to have worked for me a couple times but not 100%.

This comment makes me feel old!!! My oldest card is the Chase Disney from 1997 and I just received a notification that they were going to cancel it since I hadn't been spending on it. Called and they were able to reinstate, so this can be your reminder to put $$ on those sock drawered cards! I would hate to lose those 22 years of credit history.
