I believe Discover still reports business cards to your personal report so either Discover would up his count.Ok, decision time. I'm looking for a card mostly for Plastiq mortgage use. This will be for P2 who is 2/24. (I don't want to list them out, but last Biz was 11/19, last personal was 7/19, has personal dropping in June).
The only card on my want list is Hyatt, but I have no upcoming stays planned so this can/will wait, and it's Visa so won't suit my purposes anyway. (Momma likes her hotel status lol)
Discover It Cash Back
No AF, would only get 1%, but doubled first year. I like the rotating categories for this year so that would be nice to have. However, this adds to his /24, which being so low isn't a big deal. I try to keep us at 4/24 so the door never closes.
Discover It Business
No AF and 1.5% but doubled the first year. That makes it a pretty good card for Plastiq, I would be ahead. Nothing else wows me about this card.
I ran some basic numbers and if I cap the quarterlies, the personal comes out ahead. But, that does pull spend away from some other cards. Decisions.
Which would you choose? I think I'm leaning toward the personal.
If that was the only consideration for the business card, the it Miles card has the same earnings with the double first year plus a $100 statement credit through some support links. (Some still show a $50 credit)
But if you can max out the 5% categories the regular IT card is probably still better.
