Oh... here's a question for those of you who do have your minor kids as AUs. When they make a purchase (if they do, with their own card), how do you get around the photo ID requirement (if said merchant requires it)? Both my kids have school IDs but they don't normally carry them around...

None of my kids have ever been asked for ID. I never get asked for ID anymore. For the last two years, I have almost exclusively used a cc that belonged to my dh or my dd19. No one ever asks me for ID.

All this no new MSR and just doing category spend is really getting to me. DH wants both the Aspire and the Chase Hyatt card. If he gets the Aspire first he will be at 5/24 and won't be able to get the Hyatt until August. But we worry about the pop-up with the Aspire (as in, waiting until we really need it then getting the pop-up and not being able to get it at all). He's been putting significant spend on his Amex cards lately.

Anyone have any thoughts they would like to share?

Anything we should know before applying for the Aspire?

I would probably just go for the Aspire. Get Amex while you can. He does not have 5 credit cards right? If so he would have to close one of the existing. Amex is so fickle, that is why I would lean towards them.

The other factor is that the Hyatt does not have an increased offer right now. I hate to apply for personal cards when it is just the normal offer.

Thanks for the advice. I really appreciate it. We are kind of expecting the pop up at this point so that's kind of what I was thinking. No, he doesn't have 5 credit cards from Amex, just 2 (one is a biz).

I had a crazy morning on my ipad and (thank goodness I had both and 2 phones). I had the epiphany during the night that it was stupid to burn points for the one bedroom at BLT when I could just extend the dates of my booked Delta Vacations package and add another night. I needed to make the change right now since we are closing in on 30 days out. So I called Delta Vacations and asked about adding one more night. I had booked it with just the two mandatory nights and flight. They checked how much it would add one more night in a Riviera one bedroom. $900! So I then asked how much to add a night if changed room category to a studio. Only $80 more. Done and done.

Except...doing that cancelled my existing reservation in MDE. I nearly had a panic attack thinking I was going to lose my fast passes. No big...I will just get on MDE and add the new confirmation number. Except the website would not stop crashing.

Deep breaths and got through it (why I mentioned the 2 phones and iPad). Fastpasses all intact. I know the family won’t be happy in a studio for 3 nights but after that it will be 4 nights in BLT one bedroom. Plus they are in Disney! So no complaining allowed. :)

I like the value I get with the Aspire the free night, 250 resort credit and the diamond status. Although I'm going, to be honest, I'm not totally thrilled with Hilton. I've had problems getting points back when canceling, customer service is so-so, and the awful dynamic pricing. Unless you're at a hotel with an executive lounge and breakfast that's not already included I don't see a huge benefit to being diamond status. I've yet to get a memorable upgrade. I'm a big fan of Hyatt because I find their point redemptions to be the best and their hotels just seem a little nicer.

Hopefully, you'll be able to get both. I'd like the Hyatt card, but I'm sitting at 4/24 until next March. I'll probably stick to business cards for a while.

Since I have the Hyatt card already DH would just be getting it for the points, whereas we don't have Diamond status with Hilton. Honestly I don't "need" it right now, but it seems silly to be putting all this spend out there without an MSR. The Hyatt card is a great value at $95/year and I do recommend it.

Do you have a Chase online account set up? If so, you want to send a secure message. Click on the three lines (hamburger) in the upper right and look towards the bottom for "secure messages". Tell them that you recently applied under another offer and would like to be matched to the current, public offer and explain the offer to them.
Thank you so much!!! I did write and they said they’d apply the extra 15,000 to my next statement!!! I’m so glad I emailed them!! Thanks again.

I’m curious what y’all think....I got the SW Priority personal card a few weeks ago, and the initial 40k bonus plus my $1k spend to get it will get me to 125k points for the companion pass.

i sent a secure message to Chase and found out my closing date is Feb 14. DH and I are flying to Orlando on SW on Feb 20, and then home on Feb 24.

I know it’s a guess, but what do you think the chances are that my points will hit quickly enough that I can designate him as my companion and use the companion pass on our Feb 20 flight? How about our Feb 24 flight? (I’ve booked his tickets with points, so I cancel his ticket(s) and rebook him with the companion pass if it comes through in time.)

Just a (happy!!) update - as Chase told me, my statement closing date was February 14. On the morning of February 15, I could pull up my Chase statement on the app and confirmed that I had earned the SUB. The SUB points posted in my SW account by late afternoon on February 15. I called SW around 11pm on February 15 to add DH as my companion. By 11:23pm, he was showing up in my SW account, I had cancelled his original reservation for our trip next week (yay 19k points refund!) and had him booked as my companion!

I love this group!!!!

Keep the good news coming tonight!! Congrats on that sweet Companion Pass!!!

So happy they gave you more points! What offer did you originally apply under? The 50K? If so, your match should be another 25k points. Maybe check your SM with them to confirm.
@Thumper99 did the 40k + 20k offer that required $12k MSR. So 15k extra would match the 75k offer out there right now.

My daughter (14) has never been asked for an ID when using her credit card. She’s been an authorized user for almost 2 years. Initially I would give her cash as well just in case because she doesn’t have an ID. Her high school doesn’t give out school ID’s either. She’s purchased things from the mall, Target, and fast food/restaurants without an issue.

Our short pre-cruise Disney 13th birthday trip is becoming more real! First time ever for matching shirts!

I had the get 40000 at 1,000 MSR and then get another 20,000 after spending 12,000 in six months. I was so upset when the 75,000 for just spending a lousy 5,000 came out!! So I already had the 60,000 posted by the time I asked. I’m grateful because I got this card mid October last year so I really didn’t expect them to say yes since it’s been more than 90 days. I made sure I didn’t trigger the initial bonus until 2020 because I’m trying for the companion pass. When I was sending out referrals to try and get more points they all had the offer for the 75,000. And I still have the links to that saying someone could get the 75,000 offer still until 2/18 for some reason even though that offer ended on the 10th. So that’s what I told them in my email. We are also long time SWA and Disney card members so I asked and they said they were happy to and it will be on next statement!! I should be very close to a companion now!!

Perfect. I had a few clients apply under inflight offer links (that I emailed to them) for 50k so just wanted to make sure that wasn't the offer that @Thumper99 used.
And you are WenWOW!! Lol. Sorry about the typo in my original response to you!!

I texted my client as soon as I got the Yes from chase. For some reason her offer around the end of the year was only 30,000. I’d never heard of them giving such a low offer for spending 1,000. She said she went to SWAs site and it sent her to chase and offered that low point offer. So I told her to definitely try to ask for more. Thank you all!!!
