Cases rising or dropping by you?

The truth is it’s a rather ridiculous debate to be having especially since I don’t think we’re shutting down to that level. I was really just trying to explain that it’s not the same throughout the state, so blanket statements don’t work.
I don’t think we will close much further than we already are.

The point I was trying to make was Kohl’s is not any more of a risk than Walmart or the grocery store. So if we were to close back down to essentials let’s really do it. But because @tvguy can’t see beyond his own backyard he failed to see the point I was making.

I didn’t mean you were being ridiculous! I meant it was ridiculous for me to continue trying to explain when @tvguy wasn’t interested in listening beyond what he believes to be true. I was wasting my breath. I agree with you on all of it.

I don’t know what metrics are being used to determine a plateau, but I just read this. I don’t necessarily feel CA is plateauing, but today, I’ll take any hint of things moving in the right direction. Or least away from the wrong direction.

The most important thing to me is exactly what you said -- plateauing is NOT moving in the wrong direction. We don't want to stay here for long, but level is better than UP.

I'm not sure there are precise metrics, but looking at a bar graph of the last 30 days, you can see a plateauing in Florida. I apologize for the lines, but I am certainly not a mouse artist!

On the left half of the chart, the red line reflects the higher days, ignoring the highest. The blue line reflects the lower days, ignoring the lowest. In both, you see a clear upward trend.

The green line shows sort of the average daily new cases for the last 12 days (roughly 11,000), ignoring the highs and lows -- and you can see that it's as level as I'm able to draw it.

For reference, July 16 was 11,261 new cases, and July 14, 17, 19, and 22 were all just over 10,000 new cases.

Here as in Sacramento or here as in CA? Both @disneychrista and I have both said they aren’t Super Walmarts in our area. We don’t live that far away from you. But yet again (there was a beach parking lot convo a few months ago that involved the 3 of us), you feel the need to keep repeating this like we don’t know about our own area. Btw, the one in my area has been opened since the 90s.

I tend to agree. Except that the three of us talking about Walmarts in CA don’t live that far apart (relatively).

Of course I can only speak to what I have here. Not sure what the hangup is over Walmart being open IF they have everything the grocery store has. If they don't, then they aren't essential.

So it is one of the first, and those did not have grocery sections. The two that opened in this area, Elk Grove, and Watt Avenue in Antelope have been replaced with Super Walmarts with grocery stores and auto service and everything in between. I suspect yours is slated to be replaced with a Super Walmart

Does your wife ever tell you that you don’t listen to her? Because you are certainly guilty of it round here.

Not all Walmart have great grocery selections. But grocery stores have all the essentials. If you want to close down the nonessential businesses then Walmart can be closed as well as Kohl’s.
LOL. What married man hasn't been accused of that? Which is why I have a written Honey Do list. She still accuses me of not listening, or reading, usually followed by "oh" when she checks was she actually put on paper. But as Tarheelmjfan pointed out, Walmarts without grocery stores are getting rare. Walmart HERE has been a live saver for many people during the pandemic because they have not only have groceries, but they have a much larger inventory that just a grocery store.
For the record there are 4,756 Walmarts in the U.S. Only 376 don't sell groceries. https://www.statista.com/statistics...-walmart-stores-in-the-united-states-by-type/

My city won’t approve Walmart to build a Super Walmart.

The point once again is if we are closing stores that are deemed nonessential then Walmart does not need to be open when you can get all your essentials from the grocery store. And since they carry a lot of items that aren’t essential why should they get a pass to stay open when many others have to close. If you are going to a neighborhood market Walmart that is a grocery store.

What’s a honey do list? I have been with the same person for almost 20 years, and I have never heard of this.

They’ve been talking about rate of doubling for awhile. It was 19 day here at the beginning of June. It was 8 days as of yesterday.
The graphic should have gone from 1 to double that = 2 million, then from 2 to double that = 4 million. The way it is written is an attempt at manipulating an audience.

Really? Okay, I'll bite, a written list of things you want your spouse (your honey) to do.

And my point....once again.......is, if you have a Super Walmart with groceries, why should you make trips to different stores since each different store you go into increases your risk of exposure.

Are you seriously still talking about Walmart?😂. How about because they don’t have some of the things people might want.

The key word there is "want." Honey-do lists are merely suggestions, and completely voluntary, and have no time deadline.

However, as DW occasionally reminds me: "You have to sleep sometime."

Then people have options. But I have to ask, what don't they have?
