Mulan being released next month on Disney Plus

It seems like it, but it's not really if it's trying to be equitable to the movie theater. Think about if you have a family of four going to the movies: That's two adult tickets at (I'll be generous with ticket prices) $12.50, and two kids tickets at $8.50, so that's already $42 in tickets already, and now the kids want popcorn and such. It definitely works for the family that way. Usually with these you can watch it multiple times during the viewing window too. Now, for me, alone, the cost is high and I'd rather wait until I could buy the Bluray for $20, but I can certainly see some poeple going for it.

Lol. Mulan certainly not for the working class. $30.00 wow. Wait a few months then check walmart on the Friday after Thanksgiving. It will be $10.00 on blue ray.

:rotfl2: No freaking way. I thought $20 was a little steep for some movies (Trolls World Tour, The King of Staten Island). $30 and Disney+ (which I have) on top of it?! NO!

EDIT: Plus, I won't be watching it because the main actress supports Hong Kong Police brutality.

It’s not steep. It’s a new release movie skipping theaters.

You can spend $12 per ticket on opening weekend. You can pay less if you wait for a weekday afternoon. You can pay even less 4 weeks later. You can pay $20 for an early digital release. You can pay $6 to rent it 2 weeks after digital release. You can rent it for $3 weeks after that. You can finally see it for free on streaming services.

Here you can pay $30 or you can wait.

Disney just posted a $2 billion loss at the parks. Not everything in the world is free.

No it’s not steep. It’s way cheaper than a family of going to the theater on a Saturday. In my area opening night is about $15-20 per person.

We will pay to watch it. It’ll be a nice Friday night !!

We're all in......we will get the whole family together and get the popcorn, candy and soda and enjoy it!!
DD (adult has been waiting for it). Her favorite Disney character!
At least the 4 girls are all in.....we'll see if the guys want to, but we will be watching it.

So if we pay the 30 dollars how long do we get the movie for? Sad part is I see Disney doing this for other movies.

Except that we're not a family of 4. Usually it's just me and my daughter at Disney movies. And I would be providing the TV. And I would never watch it more than once. So definitely not worth it for us.

I don't really know what to expect them to do though. This is probably the best move. There were already some political issues with the movie that could have been problematic, so probably best to just dump it on D+ and take the hit while they have cover for a poor result.

I'm not sure on this, with other releases like Scoob! You could watch it as much as you wanted for the weekend (through Sunday) but there was also the option to buy right off too.

I get it. For me, unless my friends want to go in on it, I'll be waiting, but it definitely makes sense for those looking for a family night with it. I mean, options are limited.

It's just DH and me but we will skip it. Yes, we would pay about that for over 21 seating at our local theater. We would order dinner and cocktails and spend more than the $30 but we would have an entire evening out, no dishes, supporting our theater. I won't spend that to watch from home.

Honestly, these days, I have tired of the theater "experience" so to speak. It's always chaotic at the ones around here - granted I'm going to the big "nerd movies" but, honestly, with my new 4K TV - ehh, I could go either way. I'm not paying 30 bucks to see mulan though, but if friends want to go in on it, maybe.

OP here. My DD with her family of five would save $$ on it, but my DH and I are empty nesters and get a senior discount at our local theatre. So we're not going to pay the $30 premium on top of the Disney + fee.

Welcome to the future!

The public wanted unbundled channels. This is just the next step, unbundling movies.

People will need 5-10 different streaming services to get what they got previously with their primary cable or satellite provider.

Theaters started their "streaming" subscriptions with the AMC Stubs A-list and others but Covid-19 killed those.

Fight night priced pay-per-view new released movies are the future. I expect that DVD/BluRay releases will occur much slower for movies released this way.

That's us....that's why we are going to round everyone up.
I would pay it anyway....love Mulan.
Heck I think DD would pay it just for her. She has seen the animated one at least 500 times

I think it's time to subscribe. I know! Why didn't I do it sooner? I don't have a good answer.
