Another attraction gone?

Sucks to see an attraction close when it's likely that nothing new will get added for a little bit after this, but the whole area there could use a good new immersive land. I could see the area turned into Monstropolis. People have wanted something with it and they have the new show coming to Disney+ so it woudl still be relevant. Could port on of the dark rides, move the Laugh Floor to open up space for something more appropriate in Tomorrowland, and build a door coaster. Throw in a QS restaurant with family friendly food and Harryhausen restaurant for sit down service and you'd have a great land.

They'll need some kind of very popular IP to build around. I don't think they have any right now that would justify a full land being built in the tradition of Toy Story Land and SWGE. Cars/Monsters/Incredibles are too dated right now I think for a full land. Especially since this won't even be planned for a few years, built for a few more years after that. So basically popular in 2030.

I would disagree that they are too dated. Incredibles 2 wasn’t very long ago. Monsters is still set to get a new series on Disney+. Cars just opened a show in DHS not too long ago.

Maybe I am misremembering, but I thought there were rumors about 2-4 years ago that this show was going to be cancelled. For the past few trips, I have made sure not to miss it for just that reason (that it may not be there when I come again).

It doesn't help that there have been a number of malfunctions in recent memory (Ursula lost a head. Ariel's tail didn't quite come off...).

[Edit] It was 5 years ago and KtP reported it based on the refurbishments and what buildings would have to go, so it's obviously overcome by events.

Would be nice if One Mans Dream could be relocated as well. Would free up a nice size area for an eticket

Edit: Not that they have $ right now. But down the road.

I want a Frozen land in our Disney World. Probably has something to do with the fact that I had two boys and waited a long time to get my girl, but Frozen would be awesome to visit in person.

I agree with this. Also they could always put out another sequel. These characters are still well liked too. And honestly if you make it a fun area with great rides the theming itself doesn't matter that much. Relevancy aside, I have friends as well as my DH that aren't Harry Potter fans at all but those were there favorite areas still at Universal because of how immersive and well done the theming was.

Not to mention that Carsland at DCA is AWESOME!!!!!!

YESSSS!!! I've only been to DLR once but Cars Land at DCA was fantastic. RSR is one of my favorite rides, and the theming and level of immersion is awesome imo. I always thought Cars was really underrated and glad to see it got a land of its own.

I was never a fan of Voyage of the Little Mermaid, hopefully they put something good in its place eventually

You know what always drove me crazy about that show? It's super nitpicky and I know it's based on a cartoon but Ariel has spent her whole life as a mermaid but she gets human legs and jumps of her platform like Simone Biles. Don't you'd think it would take some time to get used to legs after having fins her whole life? For some reason that always bothered me. At least make her a little wobbly when she first gets up.

They did in the original movie. Granted, that didn't last more than a few frames but she certainly was wobbly initially.

I liked the show and I'm sorry to see it go. It definitely was feeling a little dated, but LM is a classic from my childhood and will always have a soft spot in my heart. I doubt anything will replace it for a long while.

That comment is now officially my favorite part of that attraction!!! 🤣🤣🤣

We haven’t seen the show since our first trip in 2008. Our DD(6 at the time) was seriously hacked because she didn’t want to see Ariel with her legs!! (Similar story with Belle in her blue dress versus her yellow gown...) And evidently she held a grudge, cuz she never wanted to go back. And sitting on that damp musty floor.......I was happy to oblige! Blech.

Show was cute, but it was super dated.
I agree, and the last time I was there, the Arial couldn't stay on key. I've never in my life been to a Disney performance where the lead singer was tone deaf but it made the whole show cringeworthy. I felt like I was at a high school play.

The theater has always had seats. Are you confusing theaters with Disney Jr?

No, I definitely remember sitting at Playhouse Disney (it’s been that long!) but would’ve sworn Mermaid was floor seating too. Maybe I just remember it feeling squishy carpet? I just remember it seeming damp and smelling moldy (I’m sensitive to mold), I guess from the bubbles. Count me amongst those who’d like to see it reimagined as the Animation Academy again—loved that.
