Thank you, was thinking perhaps the Citi. What can you do with Thank you points?
Dh does have a CIU, I would like one for myself, but his approval took so darn long, makes me nervous to try, so this last round I did the IHG premier. Which I could get for him I guess, but how many IHG point do I need?

I was thinking about the IHG but DH says he does not like Holiday Inns. I am thinking for free I can deal with most brands. lol

I know we have a lot of readers on this thread, so hopefully you all can help me . . . I have several certificates from Barnes and Noble that need to be used on a kid's book, but I have no actual kids to buy books for (all my "kids" are adults now). Any recommendations for books that are technically kids books but really are books for all ages? I'm thinking something like The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe (which we have).
Any Robin McKinley book.

Has anyone tried to SM to request a link?
Funny you should ask, I did SM Chase about this 🤪 I was going to apply today with DH’s link and now I’ve put it on hold because I can’t generate a link. They replied that they realize “the system is currently down” and to check my email as they periodically send out links, and feel free to call if I need more help. 😏 not too helpful. I’ve learned my lesson to save all links when available. I’m going to give it another week, and then I’ll apply either with DH’s link or through one of the great people here 👍🏻

Get your favorite kids book and save it for future grandkids

This looks promosing for Chase/Disney but I hope it doesn't mean Citi will break with cxLoyalty. Citi currently has Disney tix through their portal which is what I'm hoarding TY points for.

I am actually planning on doing the same, and I called today to check what the cost is. I was told they weren't offering theme park tickets for purchase right now because of Covid (after being hung up on twice but that's a different topic). I also checked online and don't see them there either. Are you able to see the tickets on the Citi portal?

I enjoyed The Mysterious Benedict Society series.

Anyone want to comment on the potential risk of applying for Citi AA cards?
DH got Citi AA Biz 2/2017 & Barclay Biz in 8/2018. I'm thinking he's safe to apply for an AA card now. Keep getting offers in email and snail mail.

I need a plan for 2021 but not inspired as of yet. My primary goal is saving cash to upgrade to a better house. Free travel welcome once we can travel again, hopefully by summer.
I think as long as you aren't doing anything nefarious with codes, you're fine to resume normal churning activities with Citi AA cards following their rules.

So far my week "off" is not going well... I basically worked both days. 😂 😂 And tomorrow I have my last loan closing of the year!

I guess I won't put in for PTO... although it's not like I need more of that right now either, lol. And PPP round 2 has me experiencing banker PTSD... who knows what January may bring for me!

At any rate, I hope everybody had a great Christmas and is enjoying this week as well! I've enjoyed reading many posts about how 2020 from a churning perspective worked out well for folks.

I met the Amex Bonvoy Biz spend before my Dec statement closed and I didn't get the SUB. I chatted with them to make sure because I had met the spend because I was really close according to my calculations, I had me the spend but I he said they needed time to review the transactions. I guess the RAT team is working extra this holiday season. I was really hoping the SUB would post.

My husband met spend on Bonvoy Biz in mid December and points posted couple days later; not related to statement close. Just keep regular spending on it. Even small amounts just swipe it. In my experience that is the main factor in them releasing the points and having points post. If Amex is loving you points post immediately. If they are annoyed or suspicious they will drag it out. You don’t want to deal with that.

Did you select the Cruise and Tours option when you called? They operate more like a typical travel agency. As long as Disney is allowing third party sales, they should be able to get it.

Called AT&T just to see if there was any kind of promotion we could qualify for to get a new phone for my son. Turns out I called at the right time and got an upgraded phone plan and new iPhone 12s for everyone. We were out of contract so I think that was key - we are locked in for 24 months but we weren’t planning to change plans anyways.

roahl Dahl?

Have you ever had a Citi Thank Points card? I figure that’s probably where I’ll go once I’m over 5/24 and in pop up jail. Or maybe, if I were you I’d wait (waiting is hard) until February and get a CIC/CIU.

Newbie question. I have a DC and tried for a Premier 2 days ago. Not approved. Not high enough credit score. I'm between 775 and 801 with all 3. But...I tried yesterday for Amex Platinum and got approved with 100k points and 10x groceries/gas. The AF is hard to swallow, but i managed to use my $20 streaming, $20 wireless, $50 Saks, and $35 Ubereats credits all yesterday after getting approved, lol. Still can't figure how to use the travel fee credits with no air travel for me on the horizon. But hate to waste it!

Any advice on when/what situation to retry for Citi? I'd really like to get more TYP, right now the ones i have via the DC card are not doing me much good. Although I really like using that card and find myself pulling it out in lots of situations.

I'm 6/24. Got CSP in October (which put me at 5/24) and Amex Plat yesterday.

I suppose my biggest goal at the moment - to take my junior DD on a graduation trip in 2022. That's kind of why I've been thinking about MR/TYP etc. But I'm new at the travel with points game so...

I was thinking about the IHG but DH says he does not like Holiday Inns. I am thinking for free I can deal with most brands. lol

I like Holiday Inn Express. But, for a long time I didn't care for regular Holiday Inns. I did enjoy the Ocean City one but it needs a room update.

But, in Nov 2019 I stayed in one near 95 close to Savannah that was brand new and gorgeous inside, plus it had a nice coffee bar that was free.

HI's had a review site that I could rely on fairly well. So I stayed at many in the late 90ties/early 2000's and did well so long as I heeded the reviews. The couple of times I booked badly reviewed hotels, I got what they described. Along the way, they did a lot of new builds and product improved considerably.
