I have a question about only being able to get a BG if you have DHS reservations that day....from what I understand you can park hop after 2 if you second park is not at capacity, correct?

What if you are planning to hop to DHS - is there no way to try for a BG at 1pm then for later in the day when you are at DHS?
If you don't have a park reservation for DHS it is impossible to ride Rise of the Resistance. Only those with a reservation are eligible to try at 7 AM and as @ENJDisneyFan mentioned, only those with a DHS reservation AND have tapped in by 1 PM may try for a RotR boarding group.

Those who hop to DHS are not eligible to try for a BG.

We arrive on Thursday and have three HS days, so hopefully, we will be successful on at least one of those days. We've been practicing at home and have been making it as far as the "you don't have a park reservation today" kind of message vs the "boarding group full" message that I sometimes get (my husband has had better luck than me! So I'm assuming, if we had a park reservation we would have gotten a BG???

Ok, so here is the plan...I welcome input!!!

1. From our room at CBR, I'll pull up the time.gov clock while my husband closes out the MDE app and gets off wi-fi.
2. When the time.gov gets to 15sec I'll tell him to open MDE. He will use the three line icon at the bottom right of the app and go to the "Virtual Queues" tab. (He doesn't hit the "Join Virtual Queue" at this point right??)
3. When the time.gov gets to 5 seconds, I'll start counting down and at 1 second before tell him to hit "Join"
4. He won't check any of our other party members, but keep hitting join instead.

a) Yes
b) I find this most reliable. I have tried others and always come back to the picture of the AT ATs on the home page of the MDE app
c) Yes

This is NOT correct. If you have a park pass secured for the day, you can get a BG from anywhere in the world, including mid-flight as some who have had in-flight wifi have reported!

People who are practicing getting a BG without a reservation for the day are not taking away reservations from those who are in the parks.

Those who do not have a reservation will get only so far and see a message something like, 'Is everyone in the park?' This message means they would have been successful should they have had a reservation but without a reservation it won't take them any further.

The only people who are successfully getting BGs (unless there is the rare system glitch) are those with a DHS park reservation that day.
thank you for mentioining,I have been practicing and so far got the "is everyone in the park" every time.

Total failure. This time I practiced for the 1:00pm but without referencing time.gov, and on top of that the screen immediately after the AT-AT was "Loading...." for too long. Now I want to forget the AT-AT and try the Join Virtual Queue method.

I’m at the parks with a park reservation for HS today. Set with phone in hand on the “my queues” page. At 7:00 am I hit the blue button. Took time to uncheck the two of three us that where not riding. Hit JOIN and got a red pop up saying all queues where full. In just a few seconds they were gone. The join buttons were still active for a few minutes so I kept trying but always got the same red pop up message until the join buttons disappeared and all hope was gone. But, there is another........at 1:00 pm

UPDATE: I got a BG at the 1:00 pm! Group 127. Took the advice from the board and didn’t waste time unchecking. Thank you!

Congrats! If you really enjoy the ride, you can take a magic band from someone not wanting to ride and go again!

New to the boards, going to Disney in 1 1/2 weeks for 1 day, mainly just to experience Galaxy's Edge. Been trying for the last couple of days to "practice" but getting nowhere fast.

I have an Iphone XR. I open my app a minute or so before the time drops (either 7am or 1pm), then go to the AT-AT screen, wait for the time flip, then click JOIN, JOIN (at picking my party, not wasting time to click on anyone), then I get stuck in an error loop every time - either it tells me "something went wrong, network error" or starts requiring my log-in credentials again. I have the app set on facial recognition for log in, and it just keeps rolling through that over and over, until it tells me that I am logged out completely, and I tried to log-in too many times unsuccessfully. It's really weird.

Then, once I log in, it properly goes to the screen telling me that it is too late to join the virtual queue.

It did this yesterday, and then I realized there was an MDE app upgrade that was in the app store, so I did that thinking that would solve the problem, but then tried again this morning and this afternoon, and still getting the same issues.

Anyone else see this? Apologies if this has been dealt with in this thread - I tried searching, and while some have had particular issues with iphones in the past, I did not see anything on it with my particular issues.

Thanks in advance!

etienne- try turning your phone completely off for one minute then turning it back on. That sometimes helps.

If that doesn’t work, uninstall the app and reinstall.

Today was my first practice run failure in quite a while. Makes me worried since I know it will be just as busy when we are there in two weeks. Anyone else have a bad run this morning?

Today was my first day practicing from home. Clicked past the at-at screen at 6:45. At 7:00, no join button appeared. Ever. What did I do incorrectly?

Why 6:45? I wait till 6:59:59 to click Join. I do open the app around 6:55 that to make sure it recognizes me and I don't get any surprises like crashes or update prompts, messages etc at the last minute.

I am successful practicing from home almost all of the time. Has anyone been successful at practicing and then when the time came for the real day, you couldn't secure a BG?

What does it mean when someone is successful vs. unsuccessful when practicing from home? Are people actually booking BGs that they can’t use as practice, or just getting to a certain screen and considering that “success”?

It just means they got past the Join buttons and the system indicates that you don't have a Disney Park Pass so will not give you a BG.

Yes while testing it is possible to get a BG at 7 AM from home if you have a valid ticket for the day and a valid Disney Park Pass for the day. In this case we ask guests to drop the BG so other on-site guests may take advantage of the limited capacity.

Thanks! I was just curious - interested in practicing myself, but wasn’t sure how to determine “success” if I don’t have a valid ticket or park pass for the day that I try it on.
