I love credit cards so much! v4.0 - 2021 (see first page for add'l details)

I got hooked on the idea of churning about getting a 100K sign up bonus on a Marriott Bonvoy card and then putting all of my spend on it for a couple of years resulting in over 300K points, and that includes using a few free nights. Now that my eyes have been opened, I want more! LOL! Before the Bonvoy card, we were pretty anti-credit card around here. I was scared of ruining my credit and getting into lots of debt.

By the way, how do you get your Disney tickets for free? Are you cashing out bonuses?
I have a couple cards that earn Citi ThankYou points. It's generally pretty hard to accumulate enough TYP but they have been offering me huge bonuses, like 10 and 25X points, on an old Sears card. Their travel portal still sells Disney tix.

My friends might eventually see the light, but my sister sees me doing this and is like No Way.

Interesting the different offers. DH's Hyatt got the 5x grocery/restaurant. His card is newer, just met MSR. My Hyatt card is older and got 5x anything up to $1500.

I got mine in 2017 and got rest/groc. Guessing the almost 15k spend in the past couple of months bumped me to that. Surprised they gave me anything really.

Now 3x ur on my csr for April groceries or 5x hyatt. I think hyatt makes more sense considering how most of my ur end up transferred there and I'm not doing pyb.

I don't know, my 79 yo mom was pretty dramatic. She was sick for a week, feverish (she doesn't actually use a thermometer 🧐) and swollen red arm. She has, literally, no immune system and has to get immunoglobulin infusions every month.

That's interesting. I wonder if the infusions somehow enhanced the side effects? Everything I've read says that younger people are more likely to have side effects because their immune systems tend to be stronger. I got the first dose of Pfizer last week and had only a few exceedingly mild effects that I probably wouldn't have noticed had I not been looking for them. I'm actually hoping for some effects from my second dose, just to know that there was an immune response.

My parents are late 70s as are most of their friends. They said the only ones that had symptoms after the second shot were their young friends (early 60s). I have a very strong immune system. So I'm worried about when I finally can get a vaccine.

It seems like the longer the systems waited to reopen, the less the kids wanted to go back. They've had a taste of freedom and they love it. September will be interesting.
My son says he doesn't want to go back because of bullying. He's enjoying zero interaction with other kids. ☹ Either the bullying was worse than I thought or he's milking it, and I'm not quite sure which.
Honestly some people are best off with a straight 2% cashback on all purchases card and your friends sound like that would be more their style. I have a friend like that, she’s got Fidelity’s 2% and is happy as clam. No travel portal hassles, no AF, no points to hassle with. Less money but less stress.
I do think my friend would use the Chase travel portal since they always stay off property and rent a car. But I'll definitely ask first before I recommend a card.

I'm not sure but I asked the immunologist when she should get the shot based on her infusion schedule and was told it didn't matter. I wasn't sure if she should get it right before or after infusion as I thought the reaction might be different.
I'm pretty sure you'll have a reaction to the second one. Everyone I know has, regardless of first reaction or which brand they got.
Edit: Everyone I know under 80 had a reaction with second shot. Checked with friend whose dad and uncle are over 80 and neither had side effects after second. Personally I had whole body aches and arm pain that went up into shoulder neck, but it was gone in 36 hours.
I have no idea which one I am getting. My appt is Sunday, I kinda wish I would have done Saturday, in case I have issues. Oh well, just happy to have it!
Exactly. DH got an appointment for 10 am Thursday. He'll miss work and has to drive 15 minutes but he's getting it done.

I got my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine today. I had Covid in late June and I’m still not fully recovered. If you’ve done any reading about Long Haulers, I am one of those. I was in perfectly good health before Covid, and I’m in my early 40’s. I’ve been reading reports that about 30-40% of Long Haulers have their symptoms resolve after their second dose of the shot, and nobody understands why. But I sure hope that is my experience. So far my arm is just sore, but no worse than when I get a flu shot.

Good luck with the second dose!

Long Haulers has been on the national news a couple of times, and it doesn't sound fun. 10-15% of COVID recovered patients get it. Maintain vigilance folks ... we're almost there!

I have friends/colleagues who are long haulers (a couple—both 60). What they have been through has been really awful. I hope you get some relief.

Trying to book a trip for May to celebrate graduations. We would like to stay in the US. We have 2 free nights with Hilton, 1 free night with Marriott, 5 Marriott Suite upgrades, and lots of Delta points/Delta Vacation dollars. I was looking at the Florida keys yesterday. Was thinking about Baker's Cay for a few nights and then either Hawk's Cay or head down to Key West. Any thoughts? Girls are 22 and 19. We will probably fly into Miami and rent a car.

Hmm. Check car rental prices first. I've heard a couple folks mention $1k per day.
If that's true for you, I'd consider flying into Key West and lodging within walking distance of all the action (or just buying a junker and maybe donating it?)

Even those who have a response to the second dose don't seem to have very bad symptoms for very long--mild flu-like symptoms for a day or two seem to be the worst.

Thanks for sharing, but Ugh! ... My second bonus still hasn't posted! And my statement closed on the 12th. I've been planning to use my points (and new companion pass!) to book tickets when they release and now I'm wondering if I'll ever see it. 😢 My first MDD and I want that companion pass!
