CIP AF hit, so I have questions!
And an additional question about BIL's app for a CIU.

DH and I both have a CIP. We both were charged our AF yesterday. We do not need both of us to have cards at this point, and since DH's is already IN his regular chase login, I would like to keep his. However. One of us sent BIL a support link for a CIU back on the 13th, and he has not received anything from Chase at this point (electronic OR paper), which is surprising since DH got approved in like 4days for the same card. I don't know which one of us sent the support link. I would like to close (or PC??) MY card since we don't need to be paying 2 AFs, but I don't want to potentially lose out on 20k URs if the link was from my card. Is there anything BIL can do at this point? I'm guessing he's either getting denied (in which case I will feel TERRIBLE for suggesting the card to him) or will get something in the mail asking for verification of his business?

SO.

How long can we wait to cancel (or PC....I would really just like to cancel because I don't like keeping track of as many cards as we have right now LOL) and still get the AF refunded? Can I do this via SM, or do I have to call?

And I should DEFINITELY move all of my URs to a different card before I cancel/PC my CIP, right? I feel like that goes without saying.

I called AMEX about a retention on my biz green and the person I spoke with suggested I open/change to the BBP (which I thought I already had open, but I'm actually just an AU on P2's BBP) to keep my MRs active. She told me to apply online and then call back to cancel the green once the new account was open to hold the MRs. I applied and was auto approved, but I don't see the MRs linked to that account yet. Should I be safe to cancel the biz green now? My payment for the AF is due tomorrow, so I want to avoid paying that just to be refunded later.

All your MRs are in one account, they aren't attached to a specific card.

I would PC to either the CIC or CIU both are no fee cards, this way if the support link was from your card and he’s approved you will get 20k URs

The biz green was my only MR card before my BBP app. It's weird that I don't see the pool of points on my membership page when I'm looking at the BBP, but I assume they are there? :confused3

I would call to PC it to a CIC, no need to pay the fee or cancel.

Are you sure you are looking at YOUR BBP and not your other BBP?

Since a few of you were interested in my "slow churn/no churn" approach, I thought I would outline a little more about my CC rewards journey.

Prior to 2016 I had more than a few CC, but primarily had the Amex Everyday (my oldest card- 1980's) and Disney Chase (acquired in 2009). I used neither regularly. In 2016 I decided to explore the CC "rewards for travel game." Here is how I evolved to the five/six cards I use now:

-Had Amex Everyday
-Had Chase Disney (usually in sock drawer these days unless planning a trip or have a promo)
-3/2016 - CSP - this is the only AF card I currently hold; pay the AF with Discover IT cash back
-7/2016 - CF - recently PC'd to CFF
-1/2018 - Discover IT
-8/2018 P2 gets Chase United - since PC'd to the no fee version and now in sock drawer. Keeping it only for the expanded choices for reward travel should we eventually use United for international travel. I use this card once or twice a year just so it won't get closed.
-7/2019 - P2 gets CFU.
-Somewhere in there I also had a Chase SW and a SW Premier - both since closed.
-Somewhere in there P2 had the CSP for a year - since closed.

Out of all of this, the cards I use regularly are the Amex Everyday, CFU, CFF, CSP, and Discover IT. I use whatever card gets me the most back for each individual purchase.

I only use the rewards for travel related expenses (so no PYB unless I am buying a travel-related gift card.)

I do not MS or buy stuff just for the points. I put just about everything on CC (DH not so much) and pay off weekly or more than weekly, so they essentially act as debit cards.

I do not pay anything with a CC that has a fee associated with it. I do not pay anything with a CC that cannot be directly paid with a CC (so no Plastiq, MOs, or buying GCs for future spend).

We travel roughly once or twice a year. I have paid very little to no OOP since earning the subs on my first few cards. I also am able to fly my college child home and back several times a year using points.

We have all said it before: There are many ways to play the game. Don't be afraid to get your feet wet and try it out, slowly. You can always speed things up if you find this hobby is for you. And if you find it is not for you, all cards can be cancelled whenever you like.

ETA: If (when?) I burn through the points I have, I am not opposed to churning the CSP or adding another card with a good SUB. But until that happens, I am happy with the cards I have. I don't feel I need to keep accumulating points by getting more cards. For me this is easier than always having an MSR for a SUB and keeping track of multiple cards.

I ended up chatting to cancel the green again and to verify that the MRs were safe. Apparently the new BBP wasn't enrolled in the MR program yet, so the CSR enrolled the BBP and now everything is all set.

You might want him yo check his secure messages. Reddit has some people getting a message that the 550 will post and then a week or so later they'll get 100 credit.
You are correct! Thanks for the tip! I'm still tempted to downgrade it to a Flex and have him apply for a new CSP with the current offer. Decisions decisions...

Has it been 48 months since he received a bonus on csp/csr?

Finally caught up from being gone last week. Let me start by saying I have no idea how people can drive from MI to FL, LOL. The entire state of MI is down in FL this week and next (spring break). Driving from ATL to Daytona was enough of a mess. We got stopped a few times thanks to accidents.

The hotel I picked was perfect for us, right on the beach, decent enough pool. My children however decided to disregard my warning of FL sun and the need for sunscreen and have both come back a bit burnt. But it was nice to get away. We had sunshine and great weather everyday. We did decide to hit Orlando one day and went to Disney Springs. It was "only" 83 degree and my children were miserable in masks. We wear them all day at school, so they are used to them, but gah, it was unbearable outside in them. There's no way we could do Disney. I had thought about getting us tix for SB (before they all sold out) and now I'm so glad I didn't.

So now the challenge is planning our summer vacation. The rental car situation and rising airfare might be the deal breaker on a trip to NC for the kids.

This came in an email for my Amex Gold. I was perfectly happy using it as a charge card, but feel like I should take their "limited time offer" so I don't get charged for the option later (if I should decide to use it). Thoughts?
