Tfw the IRS is weeks behind on processing tax refunds and you have to decide between cashing out some mutual funds or incurring interest charges. I've never paid a dime in interest and I don't plan to start now. I usually keep about $15,000 liquid but I did some late IRA and HSA investing to get under some of the stimulus thresholds, so I'm running very lean on cash. Annoyed.
Oh wow…so glad I filed the beginning of February…we received our refund a week later

😭 I filed January 21 and I'm still waiting.
wonder if it has anything to do with the stimulus stuff you mentioned…
I also did 2 other tax returns for my kids families….all straight forward…W-2 income, standard deduction…and they had their refunds in a week as well….
But …..no stimulus or child tax credit stuff…

Yeah that's definitely the problem. I opted out of the checks they mailed to parents, which is exceptionally rare. It's the subset of taxpayers who 1) were under the phase-out threshold in 2020, 2) anticipated being over the phase-out threshold in 2021, 3) knew enough to anticipate this and go through the opt-out paperwork, and 4) didn't end up being over the phase-out threshold in 2021 so claimed those bonus CTC payments after the fact.

Oh crap I opted out too.

Should I call SW just to be sure?
Is the business card still the one I need to get?
Statement for Jan 2020 shows "New Cardmember Bonus 80,000".

It would be the closing date of that statement.

Are you trying to get a Companion Pass? If you want to do that with 2 business cards, you can get the Premier biz first (60k points, $3000 spend). Wait 30 days, then get the Performance biz (you have to wait 30 days in between biz cards anyways). This is assuming you haven't gotten any other Chase cards recently (personal or business).

Went to Staples with my new AU CIC and the $800 transaction was declined. Ended up using a non-MSR CIC… ugh. Then went to Target and the card was also declined there 😭… at least I was able to use the GCs from Staples. We won’t have an issue meeting the MSR, but ugh. I should have called while I was there, no line behind me but I panicked.

Okay next up......The BIG TRIP! Ireland March 2023! I guess it's finally coming upon the time to start planning. I have NEVER gone to Europe and don't even know where/how to begin planning. So I will take all the tips you have! I have Delta Miles, URs, MRs, Spirit Miles (LOL.....kinda worthless these days since I have benefits) and AA miles. The DD's one request is at least business class. She wants to do Dublin on St. Patrick's Day, but also wants to visit some other areas.

I know living in MI, lots of people used to say that flying out of Toronto was cheaper. But w/ all the issues to get into Canada right now, I'm thinking it's probably not the best plan anymore. Also my mom is planning on joining us, possibly her dad (ugh), my sister might be in this mix too. I just need to get airfare for my DD and I, but likely rope my mom in too as she has URs and MRs and will open whatever I tell her to get, LOL.
One tip about staying in Dublin - you’ll want a hotel on the southside of the river Liffey. Preferably in postal code Dublin 2.
It’s nicer and better for tourists.

My new Business Leverage did this to me the first few times I tried to buy a $500 MC gift card. I called and with a rep on the phone I was able to get the first charge to go through. Since then I haven't had any issues. I'm wondering if they'll be curious about all the random charges that are close to $500. I'm trying to mix in as much as I can but to meet the MSR I need to get gift cards and convert them to money orders.

so maybe I've been overthinking of the bonvoy card the wrong way. I went to
La Caserne Chanzy Hotel
in Reims, France, i booked a 2 twin beaux-arts large room on my certificate I ended up getting the sky junior suite (not the cathedral view) but it did fine. I also was recognized there and at all the Hyatts, I felt like bonvoy treated me soooooooooo much different in Europe than they have here in a while, so maybe if I'm going to do one trip abroad the card is worth keeping. (edited because of my jetlag/time change delirious post).

I had that happen with a CIC AU card last year…it was the first time using it…Called but Chase would only authorize it after speaking to DH who wasn’t with me. Had to have him call later on. So from then on I’ve used the AU cards on smaller purchases before using them at Staples for GCs

How many AA points do you have? I find availability with AA points is usually pretty open, especially when you have such a long lead time.

I don't know if I'd consider driving to Toronto in March since the weather could potentially wreak havoc on a drive to the airport.
I'm not too worried about weather in March, LOL. I mean I've drive through some pretty crappy storms, LOL. I'm more worried about how accessible Canada will be in 2023. I don't think most expect the borders to be closed for so long, and with so many restrictions. I mean MI is the highest volume border crossing.

I've been stalling on submitting mine. I took 1 check because I didn't opt out fast enough. I am getting a return. I guess I better go ahead and file sooner than later. UGH.

I called and they never asked to speak to DH, I was even worried because I called from my cell.
