Are people not fans of the Tim Tracker?

How is vlogging even allowed for WDW? I thought they didn't allow it if it was for profit? (Commercial means for profit, right?)

https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/park-rules/
Under prohibited activities:

"Photography, videotaping or recording of any kind, or otherwise engaging in any activity, for unapproved commercial purposes." Are they supposedly approved? I guess they must be if Disney comps them and they are considered "media" (which is a load of baloney in my book) Seems like a conflict of interest to me, and I'd be very skeptical of future things they do. But then again, I wish the whole lot of "social influencers" into a deep, dark, cold hole in the ground :)
Wow, those are some strong feelings.

Disney cutting off vloggers would be a huge business mistake. They know that, and they foster it.

If Disney didn't like vloggers then why would they invite so many to opening events, preview events and news/launch events.

They rely more and more on the vloggers, especially with the backlash to recent park decisions.

A couple of years after this post but I felt the need to reply because I'm stumped about this TheTimTracker and Jenn thing, too. @nkereina elaborated on her apparent Twiiter presence (which I was unaware of, pardon my ignorance) and whatever she has to tweet about rubbing some the wrong way but I have never seen so much animosity directed toward a seemingly benign YouTuber! Yikes - these people loathe her and it's a little scary.

I never watched Tim pre-Jenn and I find that I'm not really interested in solo Tim vlogs about DisneyWorld. In the few Tim + Jenn YT vlogs I've watched, I really enjoy her take on things. Planning a couple of WDW trips, I was (am) really into most of the YT Disney vlogs, and just like @Jafar30 I landed on a message board that ripped her to shreds. I cannot agree more wholeheartedly - if folks don't appreciate the content or the content-creators, then don't watch! I have never felt the need to investigate a YouTuber's life outside of their YT content but maybe I should?

Tell me if I'm missing something. Is Jenn Tracker spewing offensive, mean-spirited, cruel, and over-the-line comments online (I mean, anything to justify the offensive, mean-spirited, cruel, and over-the-line comments directed toward her)? If she is that terrible, I really want to know.

The entire controversy mainly revolved around two things that happened. Jen made the comment "can I catch the gay" in one video. And another they attended an "urban party". The urban party is akin to dressing up like Mexicans and throwing a taco party, if that makes sense. Anyways I am just quoting some articles that I read awhile back. I don't know what is true or isn't. But it seems like due to some questionable subject matter Disney didn't want to be associated with them anymore. The only thing I can say is Tim and Jen posted a video apologizing for their actions. So it seems like that kind of confirms something indeed happened.

I think this has been already all mentioned before, but the thread has become pretty large.

I havent seen their latest cruise video. But what surprised me when they got invited to their first cruise, I was surprised that they hardly did anything. As in, they missed all the shows (if I remember correctly) and one or two other staples of a Disney cruise.

Of course the benefit of a cruise is that everyone can have the vacation they want: do all the things all the time or relax on a sunbed the entire cruise. However, when you are a vlogger, I thought you should be showing as much as you can.

How was this cruise? Did you get a good impression of a Disney cruise?

The shows in the theatre are not supposed to be recorded--I think it is an actors union requirement. A lot of other vloggers have mentioned that during their cruise videos.
I meant they didnt go to the shows. I seem to remember that in their wrap up they said that they missed a lot of things going on, on the ship, as they didnt look at the navigator.

They seemed to do a LOT on this cruise so far. They are really detailed with the room and the food, the cabana non Castaway Cay. I'm really enjoying the vlogs.

Since when are youtubers food critics?. I don't mind them talking about the park, resorts, etc. But please don't pretend like you're a food critic. That's something best left to the professionals.

I actually like the food comments. I don't see it as them trying to be some sort of professional food critic. Honestly, if some stranger tells you 'that was blade', do you believe them? However, if you watch them regularly, and have tried the same foods, you get to know what types of their comments with which you tend to agree. They have "talked me into" trying things I didn't think I'd like, because how they described the dish tended to be something I would also end up liking. They've also "talked me out of" trying other things. For example, if they say it's too sweet, it's BEYOND too sweet for me! I think things are too sweet well before they tend to.

In the end though, it's just content, and everyone likes different things. If I don't watch a vlogger often enough to know how my tastes relate to theirs, I take their food comments with a grain of salt, but I still love seeing and hearing about the food. Besides, pro food critics pick up WAY more flavors and nuances than I ever could. I could never relate! :rotfl2:

With so many festivals and new food and drink items many people watch the vloggers to get an idea on what's on offer, it would certainly save people money if an item was not liked or that the cost was too high for the portion.

You don't need to be a professional food critic to help or advise viewers on a vlog. They are there to present content and tasting food and drink is part of that.

Also, what is a professional food critic? Don't we all eat food, don't we all know whether the cost of a dish/drink is worth it (to ourselves)?

I don't know. On the other side, most times when I see umpteen videos of the same thing, I feel that now, I don't really need to experience it for myself. I pretty much get the jest. It's a double edged sword there. Like the Star Cruiser. Thanks for showing me...I'm never going and now there's zero mystery about it anyway. I really think the vlogger market is saturated.

That doesn't happen to me because I choose not to watch umpteen vloggers.

I disagree. Love or hate them, they ARE popular. I completely understand and respect the need for a nanny. If what they say is correct, Jen does all the editing for the videos. That is a job in itself. I understand how difficult it is to try to edit videos with a child underfoot. Yes they set their schedule, but they release a video pretty much daily. That is a lot of editing, and a lot of going out and making these videos. Childcare is such a touchy subject. Darned if you do, darned it you don't.

I am not saying that they don't do any work. A lot of people do their jobs from home, or even on vacation, and don't have a nanny. So it's not like they can't go without one. There are 2 of them and only 1 child. If Jen is doing the editing, then Tim can easily watch the child. Their audience is supposed to be the average WDW guest and the average guest does not bring a nanny onto the cruise with them. Maybe I am just one of those people that didn't like others watching my kids. Too many horror stories of day care and nannies injuring or killing the child. Especially if both parents have flexible schedules and can make it work. JMO

Prior to Lynn, they brought Jackson to most events and if it truly wasn't good timing for him, Jenn stayed home. The benefit to having childcare now is that they can both go do things together and make content. It is her business too. Jackson is a well adjusted little boy. I'm glad he gets some time away from the camera too!

Jen is often editing while Tim is filming. Who watches Jackson then?

I disagree. I watch youtube way more than anything else. I have learned a lot from travel vloggers, especially. I like being able to see what hotels, flights and destinations are like. And I'm glad people can make money without the middle man hiring them as "talent". Let the people decide if they are worth watching.

Some of the cheapest advertising and promotion Disney can get is with the vloggers.

Not saying any of this - but Disney has a clause on their site saying videotaping for commercial reasons is not allowed. No one has answered how vlogging isn't considered commercial?

And I’m saying they will enforce or not enforce it based on whether it is in their best business interest. It’s pretty clear by now Disney has chosen to embrace it.

IDK. But I can't imagine that he takes that long to film the ship, it is not that big. I don't pretend to know what they do, but how long can it possibly take to walk around and record things? People do it all the time. I am sure that it takes at least a couple of hours, but does Jen work 9am -9pm editing that she doesn't even have a couple of hours off. And the kids still naps. Look at all of these people that have worked from home and watched their kids at the same time without a nanny. A nanny is a luxury, plain and simple. If they could not afford one, they would still somehow be able to do what they have been doing before they got the nanny.

I resent the vlogger bloggers because they know exactly where and when to stand for taking those non commercial photos. Especially during events that I have paid $$$ for.
Once again absolutely no oversight or control . It is free advertising for Disney .
And usually not very good quality unless you like watching home videos of other people , On vacation .
Once upon a time we hated being invited over to watch our best friends vacation videos! Haha.
Believe me they are laughing all the way to the bank .
