I would NOT book flights through the Chase portal. there are hundreds of horror stories, Chase isn't flexible when it comes to flights, it seems that they have their own terms and conditions even if you book a "refundable" flight. Unless you at okay losing out points if the flight doesn't happen.
Thanks! I booked the flight through Aer Lingus this afternoon around 3 pm. Almost 8 pm and I still don't have an email confirmation, but I did get a booking reference number. When I try to look up the flight using the number, it doesn't show up either. Anyone else experience a delay? Getting a bit worried, but I did get the email confirmation for the insurance that I purchased with the flight. Should I call or wait a bit?

Was your credit card charged?

Thought I booked a flight on United, but was confused when the charge didn't show up. Had a booking number that I could see online. But turns out it wasn't ticketed. Had to contact them to get it pushed through.

Thanks for the reply. The cc was not charged. I called but the call center is closed. Will try again in the morning. For someone that only books Delta flights, this has taken way too much time today!! I could have put her on a direct flight to Dublin on Delta, but she wanted to be with the group.

Of course that new Southwest voucher offer is effective June 1st. I just had tickets I
I couldnt use expire 2 days ago. Grrrr.

I would submit a request to have these unused flight credits transferred to a luv voucher. Their previous policy was to ask you to let them expire before making this request. I think you might luck out and not be charged the $100 fee. It's worth a try!
Wait this is terrible! Have you tried calling and talking to someone higher up? Lot has been going on
the
@smallsy I agree with @jujubiee4 . You have a great attitude and are willing to just ask what you can do differently in the future, which I totally commend. I would encourage you to file a CFPB complaint. Even if you are technically outside of the transfer window, I think an exception could be made. From what I understand, a CFPB complaint gets eyes on it from people who can actually solve problems, rather than the routine responses you'd get from a csr. I've heard a CFPB complaint is fairly easy and not very time consuming. $3,000 is a big chunk of money to me. Just my two cents.

I have experienced it can take 24ish hours for a codeshare flight to show up in the system of the other airline. Also, I would be very careful not to purchase again, assuming it didn't go through. I read one horror story of someone who booked a flight and it seemed like it glitched out- never got an email confirmation or the confirmation screen. Days went by. Booked again. Then turns the flight was booked twice. They couldn't cancel within the free 24 hour window because the window had passed. They attempted to chargeback and the cc company sided with the airline. I'm sorry this has been such a headache. I hope she has a great trip with her group. It'll make all your hassle worth it.

Hoping for some advice from the travel experts. Next year is our 25th anniversary, so looking for a destination for just DH and I for sometime Aug 2023-2024. Wants:
-Resort feel, preferably boutique size, high level of service
- Good dining scene
- Things to do outside the resort
- New destination for us
- About 5 days

We'd like to keep it to about 9 hours from Chicago O'hare, so no further than Europe.

I wouldn't say we are super well traveled, but here's where we've been or will have been by then:

Paris
London
Rome
Venice
Greek Islands
Iceland
Lots of Mexico
Maui and Honolulu, Hawaii
Cayman Islands
Bahamas
Costa Rica

I'll take any destination suggestions and specific accommodation suggestions as well. I know this is really open ended, purposefully, as I don't want to limit any great ideas.
Don't know if you're interested in this since you've already been to a couple of Hawaii islands, but we loved our recent stay at the Grand Hyatt on Kauai. It's a fabulous resort with lazy river, wonderful pools, great and friendly staff, and right next to the beach. We were doing a split stay with the Grand Hyatt first and then onto Aulani, which our kids love. When we were leaving to head to Aulani, our kids kept asking to stay at the Hyatt. Much fewer people than Aulani. We were able to book a ($800-$1k) club level room using 33K Hyatt points a night - a great savings! The club lounge was one of the better ones we've seen here in the statesIMG_3138b.jpgIMG_3394b.jpgIMG_3399b.jpgIMG_3505b.jpg.

I feel for you. Dealing with Chase on my issue was challenging. Try calling again -- the last supervisor that I spoke with was able to process the refund for me and also gave me UR points as a goodwill gesture. It does take a lot of patience as the CSRs aren't able to help -- I would always ask for a supervisor as soon as someone answered the call as the CSRs aren't able to help (though each would insist that they try). And the wait times for a supervisor are painfully long.
Agree with this. Can't understand why their front line CSRs are not able to resolve many issues. Our last dozen calls to them had to be escalated, and each call takes a good chunk of time to resolve.

I'm looking into an Aruba trip for Feb 2023, week of president's day. Family of 5 (me, DH, DD15, DS14, DS11). We've never been and know next to nothing about it. I'd love beach front. I'm hoping we wouldn't need a car there? Any suggestions, advice? I have URs that I can use (over 500,000, but I would hope to not use them all) Thanks!
We have stayed at the Hyatt Regency twice and love it there! If you are Globalist, free breakfast and free club access is nice. Lots of restaurants right behind the hotel. My DS likes this place where the food is semi cooked and you cook the rest of it on a hot stone. The ATV tours are fun and we did a cataraman cruise that DS enjoyed.

We've booked a number of refundable flights via the Chase portal. Many of the refundable tickets (clearly stating "refundable" ticket) surprisingly come with the disclaimer "this ticket is non-refundable" and we always had to go through a couple layers of customer service to get the tickets cancelled with full refund, which was very frustrating and time consuming.

The good news:
1. We were always able to get a full refund.
2. We were able to use our CSR to get the 50% boost in savings. For example, 60 days before our trip, we booked a late March 2022 Hawaii one-way flight that cost $549/ticket for only 36,566 UR points each.
3. By booking refundable flights, we were able to cancel and rebook when tickets dropped in price. In the same example above, we kept checking, but the prices never dropped below our purchase price and some days were higher - until 3 weeks before the flight, when the price dropped to $245/ticket. We called in to cancel the bookings and received a full refund. Then immediately booked the exact same flight (choosing the exact same seats that we had just cancelled) for 16,300 UR points each (a significant savings)!

Okay, so I have a vanilla platinum (got two retention offers in a row so when AF posts I'll probably cancel), a CS platinum (got retention offer last year so maybe I'll cancel when AF posts), and two business platinums (got retention on one last year, the other is still in year 1). I got a targeted email for 150k MR points for $15k in spend in 3 months plus 10k for an employee card with 1k in 3 months. NLL. I'm thinking about applying and using it for q2 and q3 estimated tax payments. Am I pushing my luck? I also have two Amex gold biz cards at the moment (will cancel both of those when AF posts).

This would be a very risky move and would also likely put additional eyes on the account that the account holder may not want. What would be the factual basis for a CFPB complaint? @smallsy is looking for an exception to policy, I don't think getting lawyers involved is the way to get an exception. I would be calling in, sending a SM and/or email, maybe even an actual mailed letter. But no way am I going to risk a complete shutdown over something that was my screw up.

heh, i usually find the nearest shell by costco since its always cheaper. i cant stand waiting in the 30-40min line just to get cheaper gas.

costco: $5.59
shell: $5.89

Smart guy! I noticed this yesterday. The station right before the Costco was within 20 cents of the Costco. The station after the Costco was maybe 60 cents more expensive. This was on a commuter road towards DC, so heavily traveled by people who live out in the sticks where gas prices have no competition.

Fortunately for me I live near a Costco where it's in and out in 5 minutes or so, plus driving a hybrid means 3 weeks since I had to fill up. Will have to fill by Saturday as I have a short trip to make.

Cringing at your gas price. Here's what I pay (today), using my 4% card - Costco Visa, so about $4.20 after cents back.

Gas Hours
Mon-Fri.6:00am - 9:30pmSat.6:00am - 8:00pmSun.7:00am - 7:00pm

Usually Costco is within .20 near us. However now with super high prices I just looked at Gas Buddy and see
Costco 4.76
Fas Fuel 4.79
Shell 5.55 (nearest station to Costco)
Crazy differences. Fas Fuel is not close to Costco but clearly undercutting the competition if that price is correct.

Did you get to a spot in the app to enter the offer code? I got to what looks like the last step, electronic signature, and there wasn't anywhere to enter the code, so I stopped. I cancelled the app and started over, but I still don't see a place for it before the signature step.

DoC has a fat checking bonus for anyone who likes bank bonuses for up to $450 with Teachers Federal Credit Union and like under $5k of non-Amex cc funding allowed link

If you can generate a link don't forget to post to DISchurners! Never know, maybe someone else here will want to apply as well!
I was denied halfway through the app so I don't get to participate in this one, better luck anyone else who tries! (might be restricted against CA- Edit: nope. Others in CA got approval)
This is not going well... all new accounts locked, opening funds tied up and some (including me) have already switched DD and now are completely lost on what to expect

Thanks everyone for all the advice! I called this morning and waited on hold 60 minutes, 10 minute call with a really nice lady in NY, and the flight is booked. She said it was a glitch on their end. I have already received the confirmation email.

Ok I have a CSR TC to use up ASAP.....any advice? I'm drawing a blank (I actually have 28 days to use it but ya' know)

I wouldn't worry about it. People on r/churning are getting\using those nll offers often.

I don't have access yet, but they emailed me a customer feedback survey today. I think I'll wait to fill it out. :scratchin

If you want to keep both that is great but this is what I would do…
Use CSR travel credit, downgraded to Freedom after the credit post.
Upgrade CSP to CSR. Keep for a year, use travel credit when it resets next year, then downgraded to Freedom.
Next year upgrade Freedom (original CSR) back to a CSR.
I would use CSR Travel Credit - then Downgrade to Freedom. Then either Downgrade or cancel CSP (depending on how much credit is already extended).
Since you are coming up on your 48 month mark. I would try for the Modified Double Dip on the CSR and CSP so you can get a SUB again on both.

I think there's a certain level of risk to them. Something can be okay with Amex until it's not. I think many on r/churning who are doing one every 90 days are cashing out as they go.

Quite possible it's fine and nothing ever happens. But I can see the next shutdown survey first question being how many NLLs did you do.
