Topolinos no longer allows more than one entree?

The “abuse” I was referring to was the reports of way more than just a “few guests“ ordering multiple entrees not just an extra item or two…there was even a report with a party of 4 ordering 2 breakfasts to split and then ordering multiple extras…in general I guess people were basically ordering what they considered their “money’s worth”. I think if had just been a few people ordering extra items maybe it wouldn’t have been an issue. I agree that $45 is a lot to pay for a plate of breakfast food but your also paying a significant amount for the characters…
Gotcha. Thanks for the explanation. I didn’t realize that people were doing that. When I read the title of the thread, I assumed that a table of people were adding 1 or 2 extra on top or ordering a meal.

Most character breakfasts at this price is all-you-can-eat so it wasn’t unreasonable to expect it at Topolino, even if it wasn’t “official” policy. Sure the quality of the the food, venue, and character interaction was higher but not THAT much higher. It was a new experience which drew a lot of people. I’m actually glad they made the changes and the hype is gone. People that actually want to go now have a better chance to eat there, especially guests actually staying at the resort. I hate staying at Beach Club and not being able to eat at Beaches and Cream.

I agree. I own at RIV and was never able to get a breakfast reservation here. I finally got one for May but now I don’t think it’s worth the money and am going to cancel :( . I’m so sad.

Oh the irony. It’s easier to go now but only because it’s not as good as it once was and the demand is down. I think I still want to try their dinner

What was the justification for not letting you pay for an extra egg?? That seems so odd!
If they are being strict with not giving away free food, and the computer system has not be updated (or won't be) to purchase extras, then they likely can't input on an order anything other than substitutions or things like "no onion".

I can understand their policy change in offering the additional entrees given the abuse but I do think they should offer items ala carte.
You mean in lieu of the prix fixe? I don't think that will happen especially with characters.

If you just mean ability to purchase extra ... if they were smart they would work on the menu & computer system to create add ons at an additional charge so folks can add to it. OR for some extra value maybe add a fruit tray along with the pastry basket. Then perhaps drop fruit from menu and add something else.

All you can eat means a lower quality food, service and venue. This is priced for better cooked to order food, a true server and character interaction in a lovely upscale venue.

But I agree, glad if they are now operating how they set it up, how the menu states and what prix fixe means. For folks who want the nicer venue, characters and better food they might have a chance at eating there. I don't think they'll have any trouble filling seats.

Things like quality and value are completely subjective. Topolinos used to be a great value and quality for all, and why it was so difficult to book. But now that value and quality is in question. I too am glad that it will be easier for those that still find value.

Very true when it comes to guests.

The price point is determined by the value Disney places on it and it comes with many factors including their costs, which includes higher quality product and production costs along with how many seats they can turn. The more seats you can turn (AYCTE) the less quality they have to focus on.

I’m actually glad my kids are almost past the character meal phase. We had an amazing time at Topolinos in 2020. And we still go to Storytellers at Grand Cal. But the all you can eat style is way too much food and expensive IMO. I’d rather pick quality over quantity too.

Yeah. My oldest is disabled and still likes characters but I've moved away from them. We did do Storybook Dining last trip and it was our second time. It's an experience as well as a meal and worth it to ME. I don't think it would be if I were paying for a whole family and young kids who might not appreciate the meal process.

When younger I would do them but usually felt like I paid way too much for Golden Corral. I'd rather find characters in the parks. But I would do Topolino in it's current form. I like being waited on, we don't need a massive amount of food and I'd appreciate the character meet. I've had dinner there and it's a lovely restaurant. I'm okay with the price point when I factor what I would pay a la carte in a nice restaurant and then add the characters coming to us.

Ironically, my kids prefer more expensive options. Like Fantasmic premium dining packages. Spoiled little s&its!

Yeah that just gets worse .......... :teeth: ....... mine LOVES the Rose & Crown Fireworks Dining and wants to do it every trip if he can. He also wants Biergarten, Space 220, California Grill .......... and if he brother comes they double team me.

I can’t imagine any payment system that Disney has and implements in its restaurants that doesn’t allow for the inputting of an additional custom amount, if need be. Being that rigid is definitely a choice and I think it’s fair for people to express that they’re not a fan of that much rigidity at a family restaurant with that price point. Could even be rung up as an extra juice or coffee if need be tbh. I think sticking with and enforcing a prix fixe cost is fine but prix fixe doesn’t require also prohibiting a guest to pay for an add-on in addition to the prix fixe price.

not in lieu of Prix Fixe but in addition to it…

I hear you but we all know Disney has lots of IT items that seem reasonable to do but they don't. If the system is set up with the prix fixe price and the upsell drink prices ... maybe that is all they want to do. And it's not just checking out a custom amount, it's adding it to the kitchen system. Maybe they just don't want offer any more than the set menu. Doing it will add cost to the process so maybe it's not not worth it to them and something they are trying to stop at this point.

Oh everyone absolutely has the right to complain or state they are not a fan of how something is operating. I do as well about some things. I just think Disney messed up here (again) in offering prix fixe, then not sticking to it, then letting people get in a habit of abusing it and now that they might be sticking to the plan on paper - so they will have to hear the complaints.

As with all things once it blows over everyone will move on or keep booking. Disney knows this and I don't think they'll be impacted at all, likely income will go up now.

I just saw an article that said that Topolinos no longer was allowing more than one entree, is that true? I’ve been a few times and every time we were allowed to order other dishes just smaller without the sides to try more than one thing. They stopped doing this and now you can only get your one entree?
We just ate there but I didn’t notice.

I wonder how this happened. As far as I know, at all Disney prix fixe meals, everyone at the table gets charged.
Actually it was even worse than I remembered..I went back and found the post it was a party of 4 that ordered one entree and extras..
