VDH Opening

Was just at DLH this past weekend and there were no tours. Wondering if they'll eventually have a model room at the DVC center just outside DLH. Several years ago they had a model room for AUL.
I asked that a few weeks ago, and they said those will stay Aulani (they are remodeling everything over there, EXCEPT those model rooms). My guess is that in just 3 more months you'll be able to see an actual room 200 feet away, whereas Aulani remains 2,500 miles away across half of the Pacific.

Ah, that makes sense. Seems like Aulani will be for sale until the end of eternity, so guess that model room has a good return on investment? LOL

Plus, I don't think they will have to go to the same efforts to try to sell this like they do Aulani. I don't think it's going to go gangbusters, but I don't think it will sit for many years either.

We are wavering a little bit on picking up the 50 points min because I am thinking we would use points differently than originally expected. Originally I was planning on trips with all five of us but now I am thinking we would use it more for adult only trips. The duo or normal studios would be fine for us then which makes the TOT and number of points required a little more palatable. I am still debating though if it makes more sense to hope for the 7mo window or just rent points since we would only go 1-2x every three years.

How easy is it to rent VGC points? Do you have to go through private rentals or are people able to book it through the brokers? I am assuming renting points for VDH will be significantly easier since it is much bigger than VGC?

Anybody have any guesses on when this will sell out? We aren't going to buy right away since we get zero incentives.

You can't compare VGC to VDH. VGC is tiny. Buying resale or renting points can be very difficult. Renting points even more so. Sometimes, it can be difficult for owners to get what they want at 11 months, especially during busy times. VDH will be much bigger and have a ton of studios. It's the 1/2 beds at VDH that will be difficult to get. I think studios maybe not so much at 7. Duos it's hard to say. I thought they didn't go well at RIV, because they are so small. However, they don't use many points, and that's always appealing to DVC owners.

you pay the prorated dues for 2023 at closing?
Because this resort is opening in 2023, the first set of points for all is 2023.

For dues, you will pay a pro-rated amount from the date it opens in September if your UY is Feb to Sept. If you have an Oct or Dec UY, the dues will be pro-rated from the start of that UY.

There's a model room in that one video....where was that built?
If you look at the whole video, starting at 7:02, you'll see it's a mockup built in a large warehouse space, probably up in Glendale three or four years ago. The host enters from a large open space directly into that "hallway", and the "hallway" is actually very short, with mirrors at both ends to give the illusion of depth.

Just got off the phone. Call lasted all of 10 minutes total… Start the clock for documents haha
I emailed my guide and let her know I had finished signing everything a couple of hours ago and she said the wait time for documents has gone up. I technically bought them before the guides could call, my guide had emailed me that she was in early at 8:30 and if I wanted to buy early to call her since she couldn't call out until 9. My unit is 1B and I own 0.173 so probably not even a doorknob. :rotfl2:

But it’s a nice doorknob
