I love credit cards so much! v6.0 - 2023 (see first page for add'l details)

Yahoo!!! I just logged into my Chase account and guess what? My new card is there!! I used monthly spend of 2K and got a CL = 5K so it's perfect! Sent them a SM to ask for expedited delivery. What a relief!!

Now if I could solve DD's card application with Cap One. Does anyone have a number to call? It seems silly that they turned her down because they could not validate her phone number. There's got to be a way to work that out.

We used a FNC and then points to stay 2 nights at the NYC Conrad Midtown last year. Very nice hotel that was walkable to many places.
There's a Hilton in San Juan that's in a good location
what about a weekend in NYC?DC?
i was thinking about NYC! Its our 10 year anniversary coming up in the spring and weirdly school is out that day for in service so my in laws could watch our kids while we take in some shows. I always feel weirdly guilty taking trips without the kids but I am working on it lol

Just a note for those who use a lot of $200 (or any other value for that matter) gift cards. I had a recent online purchase which would have required me to use Paypal so instead of giving them my CC info, I substituted in a gift card which worked just fine.

Fast forward to today when I received an email that I was getting my money back due to a service issue delay, even though I had no expectations of any reimbursement.

Usually I toss all the used cards into a small plastic bin. Bin was chock full of cards! Had to start checking them all for the transaction. It was on the absolute last one I had and checked! Took me a couple of hours! The really annoying part? I WROTE on the card that I'd used it for the transaction but during my search, it never occurred to me to turn them over and look for any notes.

Still, I found my $47.
Good reminder. I usually write on the back what I used it for, sometimes paper clip the card to a receipt, and toss eventually.

I was just thinking I need a system to track my VGC purchases :/

Does anyone have a good method they recommend? I buy about $2000 every month and pay most of my bills with them, so I have quite a stack of used cards

Similar to Judique, I toss them in a drawer but I try to group them together with a rubber band and a sticky note with the date and notes as to where I spent them. Eventually, I toss the oldest ones.

I want to close my amex business checking account. I have 5k in it. I'm planning to transfer the money out and then sm to close. Will that work?

In what no one in the world would define as a problem, I have a lot of Hilton FNC to use. No clue where we want to go. My soon to be 6 year old has requested Hawaii (lol- he dreams big) but idk that I can churn that many airline miles from the east.

Hilton doesn't seem to have the most interesting Caribbean profile either.

If anyone has a Hilton they love in the US or a cool city/park to explore let me know!

In credit card world we are both working on Wyndham Biz cards, just finished our Hilton biz by buying our first ever Disneyland tickets!
Anaheim Hilton? Weekend in New Orleans? There's a Hilton resort & golf course in suburban Chicago with a theater and arboretum nearby and some good shopping and restaurants if that's your thing (sorry, I was born in Chicago but am now a suburban girl 😉)

My dad is from Chicago! My almost 6 year old is space obsessed and we were thinking a trip to Chicago/Adler if we didnt do something beachy. Hows Anaheim Hilton? I have Hotel Indigo booked on IHG points right now but did also consider switching to the Hilton property.

I feel so out of depths planning Disneyland even though weve been to WDW a ton!

To be honest, I haven't stayed there but was going off your mention of DLR tickets. Looks fairly close though. I have done Best Western Anaheim Inn and Camelot Inn there but those won't help with your Hilton FNCs. Hit up the Disneyland board here on Dis if you haven't already. I read there extensively before our trips. Your kids will love DLR and DCA especially if they are Cars fans. CarsLand and the Spider-Man ride were my faves last time. Also take time for shows that aren't at WDW, like World of Color. The dessert party is $$$ but worth it to us as you get a table with chairs to sit (plus dessert!) while everyone else is standing.

In Chicago, the Museum of Science and Industry has space exhibits also and a motion simulator IIRC.

I usually buy monthly and spend most at Costco, grocery store, the Vet, oil changes or car repairs, plus a few random restaurant charges or similar.
Mostly it's stuff that are one and done, with no action required after the fact. Costco returns I just ask for a Costco Shop card as I'm usually going in to shop after returning anything and it's used up immediately.

This transaction was the service fee for 'Ileftmystuff.com' which helps get back stuff left in hotel rooms. The UPS pickup was delayed and it took about a week before my stuff got delivered. I was happy to get my items back so was not expecting to be refunded the fee due to the extended delivery issue.

So now I'm considering better notes, and grouping and dating each month's set of cards. I knew the card was yellow so was able to eliminate the older gray colored cards. I'm usually dealing with about $1000 but in May I bought almost $3000. It didn't help that the cat had jumped on my desk, tipping the cards onto the floor and mixing them all up a few days ago!

Interesting... now I want a Target credit card! (Currently have only the debit). I'm 1/24 as of today, actually....
Well, your timing couldn't be better! Target is doing a $40/$40 coupon for new debit/credit red cards (also reloadables) Go to target.com/redcard to see the offer.

Unfortunately, I already have the debit and not gonna burn an x/24 slot for this... but what is a reloadable card about? I read the flyer and I don't really get it...

Paris and London next year on points is underway! We booked the Hyatt Regency Paris Etoile for a couple of nights and used a suite upgrade award certificate. We have friends that have stayed here and they really loved it! We also booked the Hyatt Regency London Churchill for 4 nights and used a suite night upgrade award certificate there as well. Next up will be the flights to deal with. That should be fun. Really glad to have the hotels out of the way for now.

Don’t have a ton of trips going on for next year so planning will be light for once. I’m going to try and leave myself open to do some spontaneous trips or be able to jump on a great points and miles opportunity that shows up out of the blue, like a mistake fare or unicorn availability on something in late 2024 and through 2025. I’m always kicking myself for being all planned out and unable to jump on these types of trips when they come about. So my theme for late next year and 2025 is let’s see which way the wind blows 😉
i wanna go to churchill let us know how it is. I didnt book etoile myself i thought it was too far out of the way but great value.

I'm 2+ weeks behind on reading as we just got back from 14 days in Ireland (and 2 in Boston). I'll write up a little recap of the pts/places but wanted to share this Global Entry interview experience while it's fresh in my mind as a DP.

DH & I both applied LAST July for GE. I was conditionally approved within a week, DH still was not as of our time of travel, & we never bothered to schedule my interview, so we traveled w/o GE.

We departed from Shannon airport on Monday and in Ireland you pre-clear IN Ireland, so I was planning to ask about "apply on 'arrival'". Before I even asked, when they scanned my passport the lady saw I was pending interview and asked if I wanted to complete it now...I did. The person who scanned my DH's didn't mention anything either way, but we asked if he could "try". She hesitated a little, saying they normally don't allow people to do it until they are only pending the interview, but they did let us both go to the office for the "interview".

I was first and it was a quick few questions (validate address, email, had I been arrested ever, had I lived in middle east, employment status), then finger printing and that was it. My DH did the same thing and was approved as well.

Keep in mind that there was literally NO LINE in Pre Clearance or in the CBP office at all so it was PAINLESS!
(edit to add: I think most of the people on our flight had already gone thru based on the crowd a the gate when we were done, so perhaps had we gone thru earlier there would have been a small line.)

Shannon was a nice small airport and I would highly recommend using it unless Dublin is more convenient. We flew into Dublin and it was fine as well actually, but I suspect there would always be more people during the middle of the day. We had biz class (Aer Lingus) going in, and since both you and your bags are let off first, we were at the front of the line for immigration there -- which took < 5 minutes.

Arrgh...I made a little bitty mistake while booking this a few months back..... the points are in Dh's name, (I've always just used them no problem) but I booked a 4 person 2 queen room....now it looks like instead of me/ds going, it'll be just ds (young adult) aaaaaand here's the mistake it's booked as 1 person in the room, even tho it can do 4 people. Should I call and request they put ds' name on it also? b/c it says '1 person' it has the main acct name on it only....(siiigggghhh) and hotel is full so if I had to cancel this we;d be up a creek..... what should I do here?
Small potatoes here I know but we solved our problem by calling the hotel directly and adding ds's name to room, along with a confirmed cc for incidentals and hopefully that takes care of it. They never asked about occupancy (and my mistake of 1) I guess since it holds up to 4 people anyway.

AA shopping portal,I'm trying to keep my littls stash of points alive, 2nd time I;ve tried thru there but how long does it take to show as a purchase? The first time just never showed up,and I'm frustrated

Huh... I didn't even know the reloadable was a thing. I guess it's like giving someone a reloadable visa or something?

I shall think about it. I'm not overly concerned about the x/24 since I am currently low and I generally don't apply for personal cards at all... I am learning that I have a bad habit of accumulating points I end up not being able to use!

Two new grocery offers on our Platinum cards this morning. One is for $5 off $50, use 6 times. The other is for 4 extra points /dollar up to 25,000 points.
I don't have other grocery bonuses so better than nothing.

I didn't have this but I did have 10% back as a statement credit for "Insurance bills" on my amex plat up to $20.
