I love credit cards so much! v6.0 - 2023 (see first page for add'l details)

Two questions as I ponder our next card. We need to do things to not add to 5/24 so we can get certain cards next summer for 2025 planning.

1. If accepting an offer to upgrade a gold to a plat, does that take a 5/24 spot? IIRC no but I want to check. Also, will they factor in for the AF that we just paid the gold AF? (i.e discount it)

2. I have an offer in my account for 150k MR for 15k spend for the biz plat. Is that the current best offer? I doubt we can meet that spend but if we did go for it- are we allowed to pay taxes with it or is that a big no for Amex? I feel like one of the issuers was weird about that.

Instacart just charged my Chase card for a Instacart+ subscription even though I didn't ask for one lol. I did activate the complimentary IC+ subscription a year ago so I guess this is them renewing it for me. I haven't used it for months though because it's not convenient. The Chase terms say I can continue to get the monthly credits through 7/31/24 regardless of whether I renew the IC+ membership. The problem is I can't figure out how to cancel the Plus membership. I only see an option for deleting my account. Has this happened to others?

I have the SWA performance Biz card that I applied and was approved for on 10/22/22 so I am coming up on my 1 year anniversary. I really don’t see the benefit in keeping it for $199 AF. I have used the free Wi-Fi benefit on all my flights the last year, but really didn’t need it. I enjoyed having the 4 free upgrades to BS and that came in handy when I got stranded in ATL and was put in the C group on the replacement flight.

I also have the SWA priority card, $149 AF, that I got in June 2023 and earned CP until the end of 2024. It comes with $75 yearly travel credit and also has 4 BS upgrades.

I have a CSP that I have been charging my $11.20 flight taxes on for the insurance coverage in case of getting stranded.

Is there any reason to keep the Biz card that I’m not thinking of? I want to make sure to get the 9k anniversary points. What date should I cancel the account to get my anniversary points and not have to pay the AF?

I saw a family in late August (last hurricane) with shoe covers; had never seen those before. They looked interesting!
😆 they are definitely not pretty to look at, but they work great! To me, nothing is worse than having wet feet in a shoe at an amusement park. We used them last September and this September when the crazy rain storms came, and actually we were at MNSSHP both times!

Agree about the wet feet. I wore my Keen sandals to MK on Aug 30, by the end of the day they were bothering my feet

I've been to Europe the past 2 years and both times I did not buy roundtrip tickets. This year I flew a different airline each way, which is not uncommon for those of using points. I was able to get a good deal on United biz on the way over and then flew KLM premium economy on the way home. I recommend checking a few different airlines regularly for a few weeks (or longer) and determine what the lowest pts rate is. They usually go up and down regularly. I've booked my Europe airfare in Nov/Dec the last two years. I had been watching the rates for a couple of months before that while I amassed enough pts. As soon as I had the pts, I jumped on the good rate the next time I saw it.

ETA: Flying Blue (KLM and Air France) has been 3/4 of my flights to/from Europe. However, their current rates are more than double what I saw last year around this time. So I have no idea what a good rate is going to be for them next spring/summer.
Are you still planning to wait until Nov/Dec to book tickets for next May/June? I have spent most of today looking at every combo possible for us and the points are so high. I have about 500K points in each currency: Delta, UR, and MRs. We definitely prefer the Delta flights, but it will take just about all our points to fly economy to Italy! Looking at United the points are slightly lower, but the flight times are definitely longer. I also usually like to use our URs to book hotels. I wish we had been able to book when the flights first came out for May, but we were still debating dates (who am I kidding - we are still debating dates!). It is so hard to book a trip with 4 adults with different schedules. We have 3 flying from SAV and one from ATL which makes it even more difficult. I feel like we should be planning our trip based on where we can find great deals, but this was a hs/college graduation trip planned from 2020 and they still want to go to Italy.

Quoting myself here. I solved it. I chatted on the App and the person I chatted with said they removed the Auto-Renewal from my account. (I screen shot it just in case). If anyone out there also activated their complimentary IC+ subscription and didn't already cancel it, I suggest you do that before they renew it. The terms and conditions say you only have 5 days to reverse it.

I need flights to Israel, but I've also priced to Europe in an attempt to ensure lie flat for the longest part of the trip. I have already started checking pts rates, and I will book as soon as I see a rate I can afford. However, my plans are extremely flexible, so I will postpone our trip until 2025 if I don't find a good deal. That would allow me to continue amassing pts and watching rates.

I called Chase today after unfreezing TransUnion and got instant approval for the CIC with a $4K limit. My last card was the CIP in July. I'm 3/5 because I thought I wanted to go for the SW CP at the end of this year, but I am not sure I need/want the CP next year. I'm going to try to stick with biz cards as long as I can until a really good deal comes along on the personal cards.

I like the SW Performance card. But I do enjoy the upgraded boarding a lot. I wish it came with more of those! We also each have a personal Priority card so a total of 12 upgraded boarding per year, and even though we only use them for one of us at a time (saving a seat for the other), we don't have enough! I guess we fly SW a lot. Lol.

Then there's the reimbursement for the fee SW charges for point transfers. I used that a few times the last year. The free Internet is not crucial but nice. All those benefits make the card pay for itself for us, but then there's the anniversary points on top of it all. Now, if you don't have use for those benefits then no need to keep the card.

I know that there are a number of people here with Verizon, so I’m sharing this (from Slickdeals) - a very easy way to save $10/month per line for the next 12 months:

1. Open your My Verizon app.
2. Click on the Account icon at the bottom of the app.
3. Towards the top, it says "Hi (Your Name)" Click on the "Edit Profile and Settings" link underneath that.
4. On the Account Settings screen, scroll down to the Security section and click Number Lock.
5. On the Number Lock screen, turn off the Number Lock for each line. This enables other carriers to port out your line.
6. Go back to the Account Settings screen and click on Number Transfer Pin.
7. Generate a Number Transfer Pin. Since I already did it, I can't do it again right now in order to give you step-by-step directions. It was easy. You can figure it out.

And that's it. Wait a day or two and see if Verizon decides you are also a loyal customer worth giving a $10.00 per line loyalty discount for 12 months. YMMV.

Note: After a few days, go back into the app and turn Number Lock back on, so nefarious characters can't try to port out your phone number without your consent.

Speaking of Verizon, has anyone had their bill increased recently? My bill just jumped a little over $30 and I can’t find out why. The statement just say plan changed. We didn’t change anything. Of course, despite DH calling Verizon multiple times in the past to make me the primary acct holder they wont always tell me he is the primary and they can’t talk to me🙄He needs to call and find out.
