Let's speculate about Polynesian some more!

How likely do you think the Polynesian tower will be part of a new/old association?

Is that an answer though? It was not the "existing Polynesian Resort association". That answer very much could mean shared amenities, shared lobby, etc. Could argue that BRV and CCV are the same "Wilderness Lodge Resort".
I agree - it will be part of the existing Polynesian Village Resort (as distinct from the Grand Floridian Resort area, for example) but not necessarily part of the Polynesian Villas and Bungalows condominium association.
For that exact reason I think the wording had to be chosen very carefully. They had to know this question was coming today so I'm sure they rehearsed what the answer would be. I think they answered strategically knowing that response allows them to go either way.
Exactly, very carefully wordsmithed.

Sure but the "Our plans right now" part would give them all the wiggle room they need.

Until they have the legal signed documents submitted, seems that's all they will say.

Going to be hard for Disney to change decision now because guides and others will be mentioning this.

Yeah but was there ever a question if it would be part of the resort? Nobody thought they were building a second Polynesian themed resort next to the first one did they?

I agree I think backtracking this will be harder for them even if they left themselves wiggle room. They know that.

The telling behavior will be if they start buying back resales via ROFR in a higher quantity. If that behavior doesn't change, the resort is sold out, so they can just say they're not responsible for information on resales.

Just because no one thought it doesn't mean they can't answer the question with the information 🤣

Until legal paperwork is filed, wouldn't anything said fall under the not legal argument?

Basically, they could say anything and then change their mind when the legal documents are filed.
I have no idea what would be legal, just saying if it ended up being separate they could say plans changed

I spoke to 3 guides this week who all separately said although they knew nothing their personal belief would be that it would likely be a new association based on the way DVD was moving forward. Our resale PVB just went through ROFR yesterday. Doesn’t this behavior seems so strange? Why aren’t they buying back the resale contracts??

I was one of the few who thought same around these boards but I am still a bit stunned to be honest. So glad I didn’t buy direct for the benefit of “staying at future resorts”. My 2019 resale points are getting me into 2 of the newest DVC builds thus far. I’d be seriously irked if I was a RIV owner.

What is their strategy here?!

Do I get to say "I told you so?" I'm going to anyways.
Will be lot of that going around 🤣 I admit I was way wrong on it. My question is does this mean they are backing off the restricted points strategy? Or maybe only for new resorts not part of an existing? So confusing to why they wouldn't want to restrict all these points

Further proof the guides find out the same time we do

Chang: “Our plans right now are for the new tower to be part of the existing Polynesian Resort.” Looks like theres our answer hopefully.
There is no reasonable alternative interpretation other than same association. Back tracking is built in but seems exceedingly unlikely because they've had years to think about it, backtracking is difficult, and they didn't need to answer when they could have punted.

This. I own PVB resale and just bought more so it works for me but as a RIV owner it’s so strange and yeah, a bit disappointing.

I wonder if this might mean they’re rethinking the restrictions and might change things in the future?
