"Back in May, we shared “Five Speculative Reasons the Polynesian Tower Could Join the Existing Association” and we’re thrilled to see our thoughts panned out. The attendees at this year’s condo association meeting also shared our excitement, greeting the news with cheers and applause." -DVC Fan

"During a public question and answer session at the 2023 Condominium Association meeting, Disney Vacation Clubboard member Yvonne Chang confirmed that the new tower will be part of the existing association. All current owners of Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows will have 11 month booking rights in the new tower, along with combined annual dues and the 2066 ownership end date for all owners." TIM KRASNIEWSKI - DVC News

Unless you're into conspiracy theories, seems like it's done deal. I don't understand that hesitancy to believe the reports of people that were at the meeting

The issue I have with all of this is that they refuse to give the same information to members who were not there.

If it’s a done deal, and it was allowed to be shared there, then I should not be having some much trouble getting someone from DVC to answer the question for me, I just got my second answer and it said “We can not tell you anything about this resort addition”.

No one is saying that it was not said, but when they refuse to even address it with your members who are now asking, it’s a little odd. Heck, they won’t even acknowledge that Chang said anything regarding it….

Again, it’s a piece of the puzzle that I think DVD still wants in play

Because other people who were also there, at the meeting, provided the direct quote from Chang, versus "Chang confirmed", and it was anything but a lock. Just because DVC Fan interprets Chang's language one way, doesn't eliminate the validity of other interpretations, and the precise language she used absolutely didn't shut the door on other interpretations or hesitancy to believe theirs.

Also, it's a sloppy quote. "All current owners of Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows will have 11 month booking rights in the new tower, along with combined annual dues and the 2066 ownership end date for all owners" isn't quoting Chang, those words didn't come out of her mouth. It's Tim Krasniewski 's assumption based on what he heard.

Yeah. They said “we have no response for any of your questions”.

I don’t get it. They didn’t have any issue putting out offical statements for VGF or in promoting the cabins.

It makes me even more convinced they are okay with, and I dare say, even want people to still have doubts.
And we still have people claiming DVC's messaging on this is clear. Obviously they are not ready to officially announce a decision, which is fine. But that's what Chang should have said instead of "Yep, it's the same...something. Maybe, sort of. If we don't change our minds."

And they had to know the question was coming. So bizarre.

Exactly and thus the reason people are still skeptical. I get maybe not making an official announcement, or even putting on the website, but when asked the same question by owners who are curious, why is the same answer not being given? It is definitely bizarre.

At the current time- same association. Establish the trust all POLY2 points go in the trust and while it is within the same association you need to own shares of the trust.

or

Trust is found to be too problematic, so they move to a new association with restrictions.

or

Because people think POLY2 will be sold without restrictions it hinders Riviera sales enough for Disney to rethink the concept of restrictions

I still just find it incredibly odd that Poly2 would not be a restricted resort. We can not include VGF in the equation as this was already a building in existence, just refurbed. Riviera, VDH, FW Cabins, are all new structures, and restricted. Following this pattern so should Poly2.

But those are all new resorts not an addition to an existing one.

No sense in continuing to speculate. When they file the POS and sales start, then the time for debating will be over and we'll have a definitive answer. If it's a new association, then those in that camp will be happy. If it's an addition to the existing PVB resort, then those people will be happy. Either way, someone is going to be wrong, but none of us has the power to make any difference.

Paul said on the podcast that aired today that he independently verified things with multiple sources before they ran the article.

Not doubting they have sources and are confident in their reporting.

But my question still remains. Why is DVC refusing to answer any questions about it when asked now? How is that different than the question that was asked?

They responded twice and both times with “We can’t answer your questions.”

All I am reporting is that I can not get DVC to even confirm a statement was made.

Did anyone speak with a DVC rep after the meeting during the Meet & Greet portion?

I’m perturbed that it’s an in- person meeting with no streaming or recorded replay. Nor does there seem to be minutes or a transcript.

And, the meeting is to ratify certain agenda items like dues, expenses, budget. It’s not a full presentation for the future of DVC. If they had a presentation on the cabins, why not incorporate this decision if it’s set in stone? I just don’t buy it as definitive. I’m not a conspiracy theorist, just a skeptic. If the economy and wind turn in a certain direction beneficial to making it a new association, then I can see them doing that.

I emailed my guide asking for updates on the Poly Tower. I omitted asking if it will be the same association and instead asked if there’s any info on expiration date, point charts, expected sale date or offering docs. We shall see….

It’s not a “done deal” until it’s in writing. And it’s not in writing yet.

Does it really matter that much if it’s different or the same if they don’t provide additional transportation, more restaurants, etc.? Just seems like if it’s the same or different, the overall resort will be more crowded than ever. I think we may be disappointed on the overall feeling, not the actual decision.
Personally I dont care if its restricted or not.

But I could see an upside if it wasn't as more points would be used at Poly2 and hopefully leaving more availability open at other resorts for other members.

But we do have the power to get us to Page #100 in this thread! 🙂
