My daughter and I have just returned from a ten day trip. We decided not to book any ADRs and just see what was available on the day. We always do RD, generally have an hour long nap at the resort and then return to the parks until park close. Just before we arrived MP opened, and we did book that for one evening. Our on the day reservations (about an hour or two before we wanted to eat) were CG, TT, Jiko and Tiffins. We used the walk up lists for GFCafe and Nomad and ate at the bar twice at Jaleo. At Boathouse we found high top tables around the perimeter of the bar and at Chef Art we had the entire outside patio to ourselves. The only place that we couldn’t find a table was the bar at Flying Fish.
We used G+ and park hopped most days, and because we were not working around dining reservations, on average we picked up between 15 and 20 LL’s a day. We also got BG1 twice, and BG2 once for GoG.
We are two adults and I am not suggesting that this would work for everyone, but it may be worth considering for single/couple adult only trips.
It was an enjoyable trip; the CMs were friendly and helpful. Some of our fellow guests were badly behaved. We were aggressively barged by a hefty middle aged woman at 7DMT rope drop. I stood my ground and just as we were about to get on the ride, very politely invited her to board ahead of us. A group in AK decided it was great fun, despite the signs asking guests not to feed the wildlife, to give the birds bread covered in mustard and ketchup and use a very choice selection of four letter words when addressing their toddlers. A woman screamed ‘shut the xxxx up’ at her male partner at MK and the CMs that witnessed the incident, offered to escort the man away.
Our strangest encounter happened at UOR. We were walking along the path from the parks to HRH and caught up with a couple and daughter clearly in the midst of an argument. The young girl was valiantly trying to pacify both parents, but just as we were passing them, the mother hurled a full box of voodoo doughnuts in my daughter’s direction. The doughnuts spilled everywhere and the corner of the box caught my daughter on the leg. It wasn’t aimed at us, but it still wasn’t pleasant to witness.
