Thanks for all those who helped me with posting of these pictures...I took them in mind especially for all you DISers!! :p

Some background information: My DH and I arrived at POP Century on August 4, 2004 after spending three rainy days in the St. Petersburg area. We are PAP holders and this would be the fourth trip in a year for me (third for DH) to WDW. This is our second stay at POP (we usually stay at Value Resorts) but our first time having our car with us. My mom and younger sis flew in on August 11th for time with Mickey...and us! ;) We ended up having connecting rooms (Thanks so much, POP!!) which worked out so well especially during the storm-more room for us to spread out/less chance of resort room fever! DH and I had originally planned on leaving Saturday, August 14th, but since we would be driving home via I-95 (home is Southwest VA), we decided to wait out Charlie totally and left Sunday, August 15th, instead.

Thursday, August 12th-Upon returning home from a beautiful night at Epcot, the four of us decided that we would head to Magic Kingdom as planned in AM. Thankfully, mom and sis turned on the WDW DIY channel which was providing the park hour changes for August 13th-No Extra Magic Hour; MK, Epcot, and MGM would be opened from 8am-1pm; AK and TL would be closed as would be DTD. At that time, the rumor was that E-night would be conducted after 1pm...from 1pm-4pm. This was crazy to us, but we thought that WDW probably didn't want to cancel that until the weather became more predictable. Obviously, E-night was cancelled early the next morning.

Friday, August 13th
7:00am-We awoke to an eerie sunny sky with normal August steaminess.

As planned, we were off to MK.

While we were waiting for a bus at POP, a CM told us that those with park hoppers/UPH would not be charged for the day if they choose to go to a park. That was a very nice gesture and totally unexpected. Since DH and I are PAP holders, it didn't affect us, but mom and sis were able to save one day on their UPHs. (Another trip, anyone?? :p )

Friday, August 13th
8:05am-Arrived right after opening to find Magic Kingdom virtually EMPTY!! Wow!! Where was everyone??

We were able to ride Splash twice without any wait. There were plenty of empty logs going down in between people!

We were able to ride Peter Pan, Winnie-the-Pooh, PhilHarmgic, Buzz Lightyear (two times), Space Mountain, and TTA without any waits! Here are pictures taken around the park-look how empty it is!

Friday, August 13th
10:00am-Believe it or not, we were able to get on Dumbo at this time with less than a 10 minute wait! Incredible! Weather continues to be steamy and partly cloudly...no rain yet! You would never have known that a hurricane was to hit just hours later. However, we did see many signs tied down like the lanterns at the Tea Cups.

I thought it would be fun to mention that the Fastpasses were not available today, and you wouldn't believe how much we had to "adjust" to being regular guests! :smooth:

Friday, August 13th
11:30am-We had a PS at the Plaza Restaurant for ~1pmish, but we decided to check out the restaurant early as we were getting hungry. At check-in, the manager mentioned that she had left us a message on our hotel phone telling us that since the park would be closing early, our PS would not be valid. Talk about going above and beyond! We enjoyed our pleasant filling lunch at the Plaza Restaurant, a first for all of us! We would not realize how thankful we would be that we had eaten early...until later!

After eating, we slowly made our way out of the park and noticed that the CMs were moving into "high" gear with hurricane preparations.

The rain began as we left Magic Kingdom.

Stay tuned for Part 2~IVY

Thanks for the report so far. Can't wait to see the rest. Is there any way you can make the photo's a little bit larger? They're kind of small.

Sorry 'bout that!! It's my first time posting pictures so I'm not quite sure how to enlarge them...even though I would like to. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to do this??

Thanks for reading inspite of the size...:p

That was sarcasm right?

I hope so, because your picture is more than 1/2 the size of these. I am seeing these in normal picture size and my resolution is 1280x1024. Man, if I had my res at 800x600 I would never see more than one picture at a time.

Thanks for sharing the photos, Ivy.

Bytheblood...I just managed to figure out how to make the pictures bigger than the originally posted thumbnail size so that was what the other poster was commenting on. :)

Glad you enjoyed them!

Thanks for posting these. Interesting to see what was going on before Charley hit!

For no lines like that in summer let me know when the next hurricane is coming!

Cool pics, thanks for sharing, I was wondering what it would be like then.
