I don't want to deal with the maintenance and other issues of a second home from afar via an HOA.

This right here is why a near-WDW condo won't work for us. We looked into the option but many of the monthly HOA fees were brutal.

At what point point do people decide to buy a condo instead of timeshare?

You don’t get a free backpack with a condo purchase so a condo is off the table for me.

I would never give up DVC, even if we bought a condo in the area…but DH doesn’t like FL enough.

I like the ability to be close to it all. Now if I had the condo, I’d do a night there every week or two. Best of it all!
