Luckily everything was very quick this morning and they were able to do X-Rays and the exam within 45 minutes.
He did SO much better at the Vet this morning, it didn't even look like he had a problem walking. And he was barking too, which he was having a hard time doing for the past few days.
From the X-Rays, it shows that he has there isn't much spacing between his vertabraes on the upper thoracic/lumbar part (if that makes sense) so they rub together which cause inflammation and pain. I guess this can be corrected if it this keeps occurring with a specialist later on. He also has Luxating Patellas, where his knee falls out of place. I always thought at times he walked funny, but now I know why. Usually they'll go back into place on their own. So the times he was wasn't walking good at all the past few days may have been a combination of his knees falling out of place and a pinched nerve because of the spine. Also, not related to any of this, but he's missing a rib!
She told me that he needs to be a forever 'horizontal' dog. No jumping on couches or chairs or climbing up and down steps because it can irritate his vertabrae.
He's on a steroid to help with inflammation and he did start eating when I brought him home. Haven't seen him drink yet, but if he doesn't start drinking water within 24 hours, i'll have to bring him back in for blood work and fluids. But he was walking SO much better when I brought him home, so I know he's doing better and his tail is up in the air, rather than curled under him.
Thanks for all the prayers everyone! I know it's silly to ask for prayers for an animal, but he's more than an animal to me. I call him my first born and I treat him like that.
