Fort Chatter

Each campsite has a short pole with a power feed that will need to be checked and dried out?
What does that have to do with my original statement? That is what was disputed...

WDW has power or the parks wouldn't be open. The problems at the FORT would be downed trees and flooding. Many areas will require pumps to remove the water. We've been there several times, where slightly above normal rainfall created many new lakes so I can't imagine what happened after IAN.

Anyone have first hand news about FW reopening. I have second hand news from my mother.

Her neighbors were suppose to check in today. After a call from FW, they canceled and moved to a hotel for the entire week. However, they were offered the opportunity to check into their campsite at FW on Tuesday, 10/4. They declined.

My 81- year old mother is easily confused....

Ok, so you implied power would not be a problem at the campground, I disagreed and said it could be. You continue to try to prove your point. I can keep going , but I won't. Have fun. Stay Happy! You are right , nothing power wise can be compromised by water....

You are the first hand news. At least you have a check in date.

It could be as in Teamubr's example a few years ago that they might get SOME loops open to receive guests but keep others still closed while cleanup continues. Who knows when ALL loops will be open? :confused3 Could be a re-opening in phases.

That Disney would not be opening all the loops at the same time makes a lot of sense to me. For some reason I think the tent/popup loops were not going to be opened as soon as the rest of the loops were but don’t quote me on that.

The Fort was closed for 10 days after Irma. When it did open, there were only a few loops open. Some of that was need. A lot of people cancelled or left. By the end of our stay (3 or 4 days after the Fort opened, they had about half the loops open. Most of the ones that remained closed, were closed due to still getting cleaned up. (trees, roads, debris).

It's interesting someone was told they could move to a resort and stay their entire reservation even though they could move to the Fort on the 4th. They must have a lot of open rooms right now.

It's my understanding that they declined the offer and rebooked at a hotel. It's not a swap, they're paying extra. But still, there are open rooms for that option.

Just popping in to add that a FB Fort Wilderness group has a thread today where at least 5 or 6 folks have stated they are confirmed for Friday check in. Some had Thursday checkin booked but they were moved to Friday. It seems that they were all notified by phone either yesterday or this morning.

That’s exactly what happened to me today

No reports yet?
The fort is in great shape. Looks like there is some storm damage here and there but nothing major. We checked in around 10:45 and our cabin was ready. They had already had 100-150 parties check on with a total of 500 or so total checking in today.

We are all checked in and set up in the 1400 loop! Picked up our camper at MK parking about 7:25, and arrived at the Fort at 7:30. Went inside-super quick and easy checkin- got the site we hoped for- and headed right in! We saw one camper - that’s it! All the way to our loop! And we were the only ones in the 1400 loop when we got here-it’s something we’ll never experience again, and I will always remember ❤️. Then we got all our stuff moved over from OKW, and have pretty much got everything done for now! Headed to sea world today but I’ll update more later with pictures! Everything we’ve seen looks absolutely perfect and beautiful!1A3B29E0-C308-4200-84D3-A44B9BB3712A.jpeg
