Hawaiian airlines 11 hour flight from JFK to hnl

Be sure to specify Row 34 for the Extra Comfort seats. My wife and I have done this roundtrip 3 times and gotten row 34 each time. WELL worth it. You have probably 6-8 feet of legroom which is massive for a trip that length. The seats themselves are also slightly upgraded and more comfortable. The legroom is the biggest plus though. For your best news when coming in for landing on Oahu, try to get the left side of the plane (when looking back to front). Either way though, DEFINITELY row 34! I can't recommend it enough!
Thank you for that! I just changed my seat for the September flight! I forgot that I had comfort seats this time around since I used my miles for the base fare and only had to pay $145 total for the upgrade.

Hi! I'm traveling on the same flight this coming August! Do you feel that row 34 is better than row 11? I upgraded to extra comfort for my family of 4.

If you're doing the middle section of seats then the biggest benefit of row 34 is negated. I should've specified this, sorry. There is no row 33 on the 2 outer seating areas because of the exit door, which leads to the massive amount of legroom for row 34. In the middle there is a row 33 however. So unless you wanted to split your family of 4 and do 2 & 2 on either side, it's probably better to just stick with row 11. Again, my mistake, I should've specified this!

Sorry, I just realized that I didn't specify the 1 caveat to row 34.... it only maintains its biggest benefit if you're sitting in any of the outer seats (2 on each side of the plane), not the middle section. The reason being that on the outer seats there is no row 33 because of the exit door, but there is a row 33 in the middle. I hope this didn't mess you up. Sorry for any confusion.

Ok so I just went on the HA site and double checked... row 34 in the middle is not even considered extra comfort, only the 2 outer seats on either side. Row 33 in the middle is extra comfort, but seems very similar to row 11 in the middle just further back in the plane. So again, unless you want to do 2 & 2 on either side in row 34 (which for that legroom could be worth it depending on the kids' ages), stick with row 11.

Thank you so much for clarifying!!! I wanted to make sure we picked the best seats! My youngest is 6 so I would rather keep us together. ☺️

Yea that makes sense. For us, it was always just my wife and I so this was never a consideration for us...until now! We have a newborn boy now, so next time we go, row 34 won't be an option for us anymore either lol let us know how row 11 is! Is this your 1st trip out there?

Oh congratulations!!!! So exciting! Yes it is our first time in Hawaii!! Needless, to say we are so excited!

I will be on the same flight in August! I am trying to find things to occupy my kids during the flight as well as my husband lol.

Hi, we have never taken a flight with our kids as long as Hawaii (our max flight has been 3 hours) but here is what I do to occupy the kids (and DH usually konks out as soon as we take off, of course I can never sleep on the plane);

* Last prime day at Amazon I got my 2 kids their own Kindle Fire (the small 7 inch one for a fantastic price), I got the Kindle with a little extra memory as I downloaded a bunch of new movies for them and tv episodes the day before the trip (I made sure to download them as the Wi-Fi has been inconsistent when we fly to the Caribbean and if they are downloaded directly on the device, I don't have to be dependent on the Wi-Fi), prime day is coming up next week, July 12th I believe.

* I get each of my kids one of these bags from Amazon as their carry on;

Another vendor makes them in purple;

They are fantastic as they hold my kids device, sweater, snacks, the DK sticker books I buy, headphones, markers, yet they are not bulky at all, they fit right at their feet / under the seat no problem.

* I usually get a cute small art / drawing journal from Michaels and a pack of pip squeaks markers as they color a little. the journals at Michaels have nice covers and come in all sizes, I recently bought this one for DS;

* I will get them a DK sticker book, as those are usually their favorite;

My daughter loves the sticker dolly books;

https://www.amazon.com/Sticker-Doll...rd_wg=cBcqT&psc=1&refRID=2VHBHE9X7X1BDDFBXXCN

these are the kids headphones I get (they come in black and pink), they don't go too high as to hurt/damage hearing, they are lightweight, great for travel and my kids love them;

Anyway there are some ways to keep the munchkins happy & occupied on the plane, hope this helps, Marina :flower1:

It's fine. I made sure when I switch the seats that I was going to another extra comfort one. :)
